Brilliant Perspectives

Favor is released because God has a passion for us that is designed to provoke astonishment. It’s a new creation reality that upgrades our expectation to the same level that Jesus enjoyed. Regardless of life events or any form of hardship, favor can elevate us to a place and position that empowers us to receive under pressure.

Key Scriptures:

+ John 17:23. I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

+ 2 Peter 1:3-4. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises.

The process we engage in with God is what makes us truly rich … not just the outcome at the end of the journey. We feel safe and free when we know how He wants to walk with us, and we are continually becoming more like Him as we learn to love the process. Joy, peace, and delight are not postponed until the outcome is seen. They can be discovered at every turn, throughout the entirety of our growth and development.

Key Scripture:

+ Jeremiah 17:7-8. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord.

When the pressures of the world fight for our attention, how do we uncover our Kingdom assignment and partner with God’s passion for our world?

Key Scriptures:

+ 1 Timothy 6:12. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

+ Ephesians 2:10. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

+ Matthew 11:28-30. Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

+ John 5:19-20. So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel.

Most Christians have resigned to living two separate lives. We find ourselves setting boundaries between our spiritual lives in the Kingdom and the “real world” where our workplaces and families seem to reside. God’s intention has always been for us to live fully integrated lives. So how do we make God’s reality our reality?

We’re getting ready for our annual virtual conference by sharing the highlights you loved most from Brilliance23. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for extended content, bonus Q&A time with Graham, and personal stories from community members just like you!

There’s something better than discipline that’s always on offer with God. For every upgrade He has for us in our identity and calling, there is a relational invitation into joy and delight which prepares us to thrive at a new level.

This devotional comes from pages 66 and 67 of letter #7 in The Nature of Freedom (2017 edition).

Key Scriptures:

+ 2 Corinthians 3:18. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

+ Philippians 2:13. Philippians 2:13: For it is GOD who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

We can get stuck for all kinds of reasons, but rarely is there a way out when we put logic and reason above God’s wisdom. When we understand that His nature is constant and unchanging, His ways of thinking are designed to produce faith and trust within us.

This devotional comes from the first paragraph on page 66 of letter #7 in The Nature of Freedom.

Key Scriptures:

+ Isaiah 55:9. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

+ Philippians 4:7. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

+ Genesis 18:14: Is anything too difficult for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.

+ Numbers 14:24 But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it.

Most of us have places where we feel stuck, but we’ve mistakenly thought that all the weight is on us to become unstuck. In the Kingdom, however, the responsibility for experiences with the Truth is never with us. It’s always with God.

This devotional comes from the first part of letter #7 (”An Invitation to Come Unstuck”) on page 65 in The Nature of Freedom.

Key Scriptures:

+ Ephesians 2:10. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

+ Jeremiah 31:33-34. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people…

"If all your thinking has brought you to a place you don’t like, have another thought.”

Remember, we don’t become a new creation by changing our behavior. We put off the old things completely. Then we discover who we already are in Jesus and step into that identity, guided by the Holy Spirit.

Key Scriptures:

+ 1 Corinthians 6:17. But the one who is united and joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

+ Galatians 5:1. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

+ John 16:13-15. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.

+ Colossians 1:27. To them God would make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

We aren’t taking anything from our old nature into our new covenant relationship with Christ. God’s goodness and mercy completely redeems our past. Now we can be “present-future” focused in all our dealings, living fully in the present moment while eagerly anticipating what God has in store for the future. In every difficult situation we face, He simply compels us to see, think, and speak differently as we learn to walk with Him in newness of life.

Key Scriptures:

+ 2 Corinthians 5:14-21. […] namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation…

+ Colossians 3:9-10. Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created it

+ Ephesians 4:20-24. […] and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
