A magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck near San Leandro in Alameda County at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, shaking much of the East Bay. The quake was initially reported as a 4.1 before being downgraded. Several aftershocks followed, BART briefly slowed trains, and no damage or injuries were immediately reported.

By a 3-2 vote the Fresno County Board of Supervisors are suing the state of California and Fresno County Registrar of Voters James Kus over the passage of AB1923. The bill forces the "Better Roads, Safer Streets" measure on to the November ballot. They call it an unconstitutional power grab by the state. Stan calls in and Blake reads him the riot act.

Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig appears to be a shoe-in for a seat in the California Senate in the November general election.
If he wins, it will free up the District 5 seat and trigger a special election.
Clovis Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua and Mayor Pro Tem Diane Pearce, both republicans, are running.

In an interview Tuesday with John Broeske and Jeff Aiello, Mayor Dyer suggested voters vote yes on both road tax measures while promising we will not be taxed twice. Last week Dyer shelved the city's tax proposal after Gov. Newsom signed AB1923. But after some Supervisors threatened to sue, Dyer reversed course and put his plan back on the ballot.
