The second film in our salute to Pride Month 2026 is an Academy Award winner for directing, writing, and music! Helmed by the famous director Ang Lee, 2005's "Brokeback Mountain" follows Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) as two downtrodden cowboys looking for work. They're hired by sheep farmer Joe Aguirre (Randy Quaid) to tend to a flock high up on Brokeback Mountain, with one tending camp and the other sleeping some two hours away (by horseback) with the sheep. As the season passes, Jack and Ennis find themselves drawn to one another, leading to them giving in to their attraction. After that season, however, Joe refuses to re-hire Jack, and Ennis gets married to Alma (Michelle Williams) and has two children. But the attraction doesn't disappear, and the two find ways to be in each other's company, even as Jack becomes involved with, marries, and has a son with farm equipment heiress Lureen Newsome (Anne Hathaway). Ultimately, Alma divorces Ennis and he and Jack find their lives making it more and more difficult for them to see each other. Also starring Dave Trimble, Tom Carey, and Kate Mara. Plus, the trio disclose what two alternate westerns Chad has in store for everyone in the next pairing!
