Today we celebrate the 50th episode of Bryan Air - As much as today's show is dedicated to the fire-fighters who fought the horrendous fires in Cape Town over the past week I also want to commend my crew. I could not have done this alone, it was a team effort from day 1. Brett and Ryan - Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
On this episode:
✅ IATA's recommendations are ignored
✅ DPE wants a realistic buyer for SA Express
✅ SAA begins training its pilots
✅ Airlink has a new APP and Safair has a great special
✅ The crew gives a run down our live show
✅ We celebrate number 50

On this weeks episode I try unpack the SA Express story. It is story close to my heart, I shudder at the level of corruption that has taken place even after the company was placed in provisional liquidation.
SAAPA punch back at DPE, Virgina airport is under the microscope again with planned land developments on the cards. The SACAA advertise a new digital license card and new airline Lift is poised to take advantage of their nimble structure.
Ryan opens up about his brother's battle with diabetes and Brett offers some brilliant advice about disengaging from negativity and toxic character traits that may be holding be holding you back.
We usually gather as a crew on Tuesday evenings at 7pm to lay out the structure of the Friday show. As a trial we will be going LIVE on YouTube to open up the discussion to the audience and to get a feel for what you want to see in the Friday show. Join us at 7pm on Tuesday evening for a live forum-like event hosted by the Bryan Air Podcast crew.

An alarming article from the Business Insider sparked the question, are South African's amongst the most restricted travellers in the world? With little happening in terms of a vaccination rollout and without a credible national carrier where does this leave the South African tourism market?
There is still much to be proud of in the aviation sector, Airlink continue to set the standard in the regional market, FlySafair, Comair and Mango show slight number improvements and Cemair start making all the right moves.
The era of the narrow-body jet is among us, the A321LR stretches its legs to Heathrow and Jet Blue unveil a radical new design for both economy and business class travellers. Is this the beginning of the end for hub and spoke travel? Ethiopian land at the wrong airport, I loose my cool with a snotty remark from a ex-colleague wearing orange blinkers and the SA Express saga is about to end.

Unruly passengers are becoming a serious threat to aviation safety with reports around the globe increasing rapidly since the start of the pandemic. There is no place for this in aviation, IATA have made big strides in enforcing this law. I hope these cases are dealt with swiftly and harshly.
SAA Pilots association strike as the flight instructors are called back to the office to work and are the African operators beginning to struggle?

The big news of the week is the investigation of the flight of heroes to Brussels. After 13 exemptions from the SACAA, an alpha floor event, miscalculations and noise abatement non-compliance there's much to talk about however until the investigation is complete I am of the opinion that finger pointing should be kept to a minimum.
Brett and Ryan take the opportunity to introduce the listeners to their lives outside the podcast studio and we test an awesome new bit of tech, the ATEM mini Blackmagic pro - what a brilliant little device!

To watch the High Performance Podcast interview with Jonny Wilkinson click the following link https://youtu.be/O80qs9OEadw We took a lot of energy and positivity out of this interview for today's show, we made a conscious effort to relax a bit more and leave our self importance at the front door. To operate in the now, learn from mistakes and not take things too seriously.
