It was great to be back in the studio for the first news based episode of 2021. We were hoping for more positive news stories to report unfortunately with the developing story coming out of Hong Kong regarding crew requirements and medical observations and the dire state of the European market this was not the case.
Our headline story of the week is the narrow body market and their proposed use on long haul sectors. Prepare to see plenty more A321's flying around the globe in the near future. If you have any views about this sector please get involved in the conversation, we want to hear your views.
The South African market has been set back by the Lockdown retractions and the curfew has created havoc with regards to passenger and crew scheduling. A huge congratulations to Airlink as they become the second largest airline in Africa, a remarkable achievement.
We also touch on Emirates, Qatar, Lufthansa, aircraft deliveries and IATA's approach or lack there of to our crippled industry.

So, that's our last "serious" episode for the year. Next week will be our final episode for season 2, but we intend to make that a little more lighthearted, in view of slowing down for the festive season.
This week - Nelson Mandella Bay is headed towards stricter lockdown rules for December, while the rest of the country is still open. Travel restrictions are easing up for children under 5, and the airport terminals are finally open to the general public.
Disappointing news for Airlink after loosing their appeal against SAA in the high court, but the question remains? Where has all that money gone?
International news - The Vaccine has been approved, luggage will cost more, airline mergers and quarantining in Darwin.
Pilot Insure are hosting a Fly-in this weekend, an event called "Steady Climb", which is an initiative aimed at helping new start-up businesses, particularly those created by redundant aviation professionals who are taking to transferable skills.
A big thank-you to all our loyal subscribers, we truly value your support and encouragement throughout this year. We can't wait to get back, revived, refreshed, and ready to bring you a much better podcast next year!

This week on the BAP, Comair releases plans to start operations. Pravin Gordhan blames a 32 year old agreement for the failure to transform SAA. Maybe Pravin should just stick to politics and keep honing his snakes and ladders skills. African airlines take advantage at the lack of a national carrier in South Africa. Who do you regard to be the national carrier at this point? Can it be privately owned?
Bryan was interviewed this week by Alex Macphail on High Performance Teams, a different challenge being on a "live" show but he thoroughly enjoyed chatting about podcasting and the benefits of being proactive.
Health passports, an inevitable outcome of the pandemic. Whats your view on the possibility of only being allowed to fly with a certified vaccine?
Tech tip of the week - OmniFocus 3, an app developed to help you organise your daily tasks. It has helped the BAP crew remain on top of our tasks and goals.

With some more subtle adjustments to the appearance of our new studio. We have a chat about the chaos stemming from the Zondo Commissions enquiry into SAA. Comair are set to make their comeback in the next few weeks. Botswana are open for charter flights, but no indication as to when they will allow scheduled airline traffic.
Cargo operators, expansion, conversions and belly shortage in this sector.
News from India as their carriers get creative with demand picking up, Indigo Airlines are gaining momentum and expect to be operating at 80% capacity by the end of the year.
