    Bside Incoming: Rudolf C
We’re very pleased to continue the global journey that the Bside Incoming series is taking us on, as we are welcomed into the record bag of the Berlin based Aussie - Rudolf C.
There is no doubt that Australia has seen the rise of some of the most exciting electronic producers this decade. Rudolf C's passion for extraterrestrial electro has pushed boundaries in the genre, from producing soothing experimental floaty breaks, to pounding club ready electro.
    Here is one of our favourites;
'Wanderer' - On the B1 of his EP 'Honey Mushrooms 2'.
In 2015 Rudolf C and Shedbug created Salt Mines Record to drive the sound they aimed to push forward. Each release since has been filled with a difficult to master balance of both heavy hitting club tracks while maintaining emotion with creative pads and synths. Salt Mines has pressed records with some of the biggest producers in the electro/extraterrestrial scene; Jenson Interceptor, Roza Terenzi, Reptant, Shedbug, Escape Artist and more all contributing.
Rudolf C, has himself released tracks on labels like X-Kalay as well as his own Salt Mines baby. The rest of the time you can find him touring across Europe and tearing up many a dance floor with his partner in crime Shedbug. Always endeavouring to put their talented colleagues in the spotlight and share their scene’s music with clubs across the continent, that’s what we love to see.

  • Bside Incoming: Partner Music
    Bside Incoming: Partner Music
This week we welcome the soothing sounds of Partner Music’s Bside selection.
A reputation forged in the UK scene is beginning to launch Partner Music into the realm of global recognition, with dance floor tracks released on High Praise, RESPSIES, Top Pocket, and Cosmic Incantations.
    Oh, and this groovy number:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNib8T9JYRE&fbclid=IwAR3V73mTxBfxtiqL6FtIilPjyDfCWUH8R7V5lI9XLZnZ6v3Ra1gq4OK9g94
The recent move from Brighton to London has proved a success, earning himself a slot at the revered Dimensions Festival, and some supporting acts in the calibre of Mount Kimbie, Dan Shake and San Proper.
The Bside of his record collection takes us on a journey of dramatic and disco infused gems from yesteryear. A masterful collection which often pays tribute to his parents sublime taste; his father an avid disc jockey in the 70/80’s, “mullet and everything”. Partner Music explores this rich family history as he continues to build upon it, contributing to the narrative with many wonderful discoveries of his own.
Having a lazy Sunday? Why not gently coax it into motion with the opening track ‘A Warm Summer Night’, Chic’s sultry b-side to the widely celebrated ‘Good Times’ - an overlooked treasure tucked away on the flip-side of this classic record. This episode is full of surprises, each one embracing our ears with open arms. The perfect partner for any activity, today, tomorrow… all week.

  • Bside Incoming: XNTRS
    Bside Incoming: XNTRS
This weekend we bring you a landmark episode. Between our intimate live recordings and the increased output of Bside Incoming episodes during lockdown, we have now reached number 50!
Firstly, we would like to thank the ever growing community of music lovers that have shown appreciation for our Bside mixes. So, to the 563 Soundcloud followers with over 24,600 total listens, to the instagram and facebook followers, we really appreciate all the love you have shown us!
It has also been really beautiful to see Bside taking a more global turn with the last 3 episodes being Afrobot’s tasty broadcast from Rotterdam, JKRIV giving us a belter of a show from NYC, and Footshooter bringing the jazz from London Town.
And, without further ado, we present you Episode 50 from our very first Russian Selector, a beautifully eclectic mixtape from Moscow’s XNTRS.
Alena Rakova (XNTRS) initially came to our attention through a stunning selection of deep and energetic tracks on our past guest Mosaic Man’s Astro FM (an amazing mix series with the Bside stamp of approval). Digging a little deeper and Alena has put together some equally impressive sets on some of Europes premier platforms, Brussel’s Kiosk Radio and Paris's Le Mellotron to name a few. But it’s back in Moscow’s Powerhouse as a resident DJ where she has made her mark with a distinctive, experimental, and expressive style, a showcase of her particular love of the “ethnic electronic sound”.
Unrestrained by genre boundaries and with a keen ear for the bizarre but familiar feeling tracks, a passion for music with a record collection to match, and a preponderance of hidden gems and influences from the world over. XNTRS encapsulates the Bside ethos, the search for new and exciting music, so what better way to mark the half century!
    Enjoy!

    Bside incoming: Footshooter
Barney Whittaker A.K.A Footshooter and one half SAUL: a band that perfectly captures the new wave of jazz in London, featuring on Rhythm Section INTL with their debut EP ‘Murmurations’.
His capabilities as a selector have been proven by his regular slots on Balamii radio, while his own’Strange Days’ EP has done the rounds on a few of the music industries most celebrated platforms: NTS radio, Balamii radio, WorldWide FM, as well as appearing on Bonobo’s NYC Boiler Room set. Check out ‘Dawn': the B1 of Strange Days with some beautiful spoken word from Hadiru Mahdi.

This is a Bside for the global grooves; its got jazz, afrobeat and funk; darker rhythms, soothing soulful sounds and a nice little dose of uplifting house. Beginning with a track from the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and from there another hour of heavenly hypnosis.

  • Bside Incoming: JKriv
    Bside incoming: Jkriv
Hailing all the way from Brooklyn New York, JKriv is a DJ and producer, an excellent musician of many instruments and the co-founding guitarist of the band Escort, a major player of the esteemed Razor-N-Tape record label and of course a man in possession of an impressive vinyl collection.
'Make It Hot’, has been a long held favourite of the Bside Crew, a deep and groovy production with a pure disco energy that can get any party started.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDjA7reiUYE
But it doesn’t end there, JKriv has a huge array of disco edits, original tracks, and cutting edge releases on his Brooklyn based label - trend setting and boundary pushing in almost every facet of the industry. His tracks feature in the sets of some of the biggest names in the game, Derrick Carter, Louie Vega, Mark Farina, Greg Wilson and the late great Andrew Weatherall. He himself has been sharing his own collection and good vibes with dance floors the world over, and sharing line-ups with some equally impressive names.
This episode of Bside is a delectable dose of the good times from an artist at the pinnacle of modern disco.
Expect funk, expect soul, expect passion, expect heads to bop, expect every good reason to break into a little 2-step.

  • Bside Incoming: Afrobot
    Bside Incoming: Afrobot
We can’t wait to share this episode with you, over an hour of hidden Bside gems from Afrobot’s incredible vinyl collection.
He’s a crate digger in the truest sense of the term, a record collector with an insatiable taste for the unknown exotic, a purveyor of rare treasures from across the globe.
His selections always strive to push musical boundaries while maintaining a warm feeling of the familiar, a hair raising hybrid of styles:
“The more confusing the better: a krautrock song with traditional ethnic instruments that sounds like an African record; that Nigerian boogie or Turkish disco track that are comparable to an American production and that Bollywood break that is a Kraftwerk copy. In music people have always liked to travel…”
As a DJ for the last 25 years, Afrobot has been sharing his discoveries with the lucky listeners on Rotterdam's dance floors and Red Light Radio air waves. But in the last 5 years his musical journey has taken him further afield; from Dusseldorf’s Salon Des Amateurs to Budapest, from Marakech’s Atlas Electronic to Minimuzikhol in Istanbul, Belgrade’s Klub 20/44 and the Croatian festivals of Dekmantel Selectors and Goulash Disko.
Here’s an episode of purist Bside philosophy: mostly from the ‘other side’ of 7” singles, and tracks that are “different or confronting”; alternative, moody, and ever-engaging.
Not only is Afrobot an excellent DJ and collector, he runs the ever growing label Afrobotic Musicology, with 17 releases each delving into different corners of the globe with different moods. -
    https://afrobotic.bandcamp.com/
He is also a very talented producer, and is known for turning strange undiscovered tracks into club ready bangers. A personal favourite is his edit titled 'Indian Acid' on his '5am' EP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPNiBA6-LVU
Check his soundcloud here - https://soundcloud.com/afrobot
"I think in the A-sides they are often more about celebrating the good things of life, love songs, and B-sides could be more about heart breaks, complaints, sadness, the real life stuff, the B side of life.” - Afrobot

    Bside Incoming: Blo
Half French, half Spanish, based in Brussels, Blo is an up and coming producer with releases on Piff records, Charmin Records, Strictly Flava, and apparently much much more in the pipeline.
He appeared in the Bside radar with a wonderful edit of Marvin Gay called ‘Gay for Marvin’:
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=qie8Yu-np9U&t=108s
This episode has two distinct moods, beginning with some soothing jazz classics from the likes of Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Gil Scott-Heron, Fela Kuti and a lovely rare Nigerian track.
Next, we float on through to the kind of deep house grooves which have obviously influenced many of Blo’s own amazing productions, includes a jazzy cut from Nick Holder, many personal treasures which would have cost a pretty penny, as well as some long awaited re-presses from Da Houze Maroon and Suzukiski.

    Bside Incoming: Man Power
A top notch Geordie DJ whose skills have taken him across the world, Boiler Room appearances in Brussels and Berlin, Panorama Bar, Love International, Mexico, Japan, New York, Thailand, Amsterdam, Australia, LA… the list goes on...
He’s the owner of the record label ‘Me Me Me’ along with its sub label ‘Now Now Now’, and a prolific producer himself with releases on a variety of other labels: DJ Tennis’ Life and Death, Jennifer Cardini’s Corespondent, as well as DGTL, Four Thirty Two, Optimo Trax, Hivern Discs, and even a Futureboogie release of his own as the final track of his Bside episode.
With his hectic touring schedule cut short, he’s been a busy bee during lockdown, publishing videos to help with music production, increasing his output of mixes, and making some more of his own music:
Man Power’s ‘Economy’ LP is streaming now: open.spotify.com/album/17P3vMxpku…OTQoqLJJelrNoPXA
Man Power’s ‘Statements’ (with all profits going to NHS supporting charities) is out now:
    STMNT1 - lnk.to/STMNT1
    STMNT2 - lnk.to/STMNT2
    STMNT3 - lnk.to/STMNT3
    STMNT4 - lnk.to/STMNT4
He’s taken the time to lovingly put together a “guided playlist” of classic and favourite Bsides alike. A smooth number from Peter Gabriel, a dose of UB40 reggae, a funky flip side from The Clash, and some proto 80s house music from Eddie Grant on the Bside of Electric Avenue. Before smoothly sliding on through to some of his favourite electronic tracks from Pepe Braddock, Kenny Larkin, and his own production ‘Ashes’ with the Last Waltz collective.
