  • Episode 4: Growing a Thriving Luxury Brand with Sara Duchovnay

Sara Duchovnay is a master juggler of dual careers—professional opera singer and estate fine jewelry company owner—and she has also found a way to mesh these two passions together beautifully. Sara searches the world over for the most beautiful pieces of fine jewelry from the past and curates them into collections for her clients online.

    Doesn’t that sound fabulous?

A few years ago Sara got out of an emotionally and financially abusive relationship, bought herself a diamond divorce ring, and came to realize that she was more business-savvy and financially smart than she had been led to believe. As she pushed past the pain and found freedom, she knew this was her chance to focus on a product that was personally meaningful to her: beautiful vintage jewelry.

As an opera singer who’s often on the road, she uses those trips to shop for jewelry at estate sales and hole-in-the-wall shops. “When I think about how antique and vintage jewelry makes me feel,” she says, “I want to give other people that feeling.”

On this episode of The Product Entrepreneur Podcast, Sara gives us the inside scoop on owning and operating a luxury brand and shares:

    • How her unique story helps her brand stand out from her competitors.
    • What skill she learned that has saved her thousands of dollars in her business.
    • Why she posts and markets her business almost exclusively on Instagram.
    • How she leverages data to make decisions for her business.
    • How her target audience finds her and how she builds connections with her customers.

  • Episode 3: Commonplace Marketing Mistakes

When it comes to owning a successful product-based business, knowing what NOT to do can often be as important as knowing what TO DO. As a brand growth strategist, I have witnessed entrepreneurs making some of the same mistakes over and over and over again while trying to grow their brand.

I want to help you avoid those mistakes.

We live in a highly-saturated market, and you need a magnetic, profitable brand that will not only stand out in a crowd, but will also stand the test of time. Building that kind of brand is a journey, and I can help you navigate the problems and challenges that will inevitably occur along the way.

In this episode of The Product Entrepreneur Podcast, we’ll talk about these common marketing pitfalls and how you can prevent them:

    • Pricing your products really high, then trying to compensate with discounts.
    • Training your customers to only buy from you when there’s a sale.
    • Burning advertising dollars on short-term ads and giving up too quickly.
    • And three more. . .

On today’s episode of The Product Entrepreneur Podcast, I share the final three things you need to focus on:

    1. Creating and using distinctive brand elements

  • Episode 1: What Makes A Brand Successful - Part 1

If you want your brand to be successful, there are certain simple—but very specific—things you need to do to make sure you’re giving your product the absolute best chance you can in the market.

The most well-known brands in the world—brands like Apple, Coca-Cola, Nike—have perfected these strategies, and their products are consistently best-sellers.

The first four things you need to focus on if you want your brand to be successful are:

    1. Reaching your target audience
    2. Making your product easy to buy
    3. Ensuring your product is noticeable
    4. Building memory structures
