Build with Joy

Today more than ever we need to understand how policy affects us. We've teamed up for a cross over episode with Kriselle of Empowered in Color and her interview with Shaniyat Chowdhury who is running for Congress in NY-5 district against a 20-year incumbent.  We talk about his life growing up in Jamaica, Queens, poverty drafted into the Marines, journey into activism serving in the New York state assembly, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez's campaign, and ultimately running for office.

You might think politics is too much and rather avoid the topic but the best way to ensure America becomes a better place is by electing people who truly understand the realities of economic, racial, and social inequality. People like Shaniyat.

Thank you to Empowered in Color for this collaboration to get the word out.

You can learn more about Shaniyat and donate on his website at Shaniyat2020.com

In this episode We're going to  revisit a conversation Grecia and I had last season about BOUNDARIES! Now - this something many of us struggle with and really didn't learn especially being an immigrant diaspora kid, Latinx, and growing up in very communal environments where personal space is (stress ) kind of a luxury. Learning boundaries are necessary to respect your self, those around you, and have healthy relationships. So we're talking more about it today with Grecia .
