There's a pandemic going on and it is horrible customer service from companies, especially major corporations.

Nelly here, build your army podcast and soldiers, solopreneurs, prepare for battle.

I want to talk about rewarding excellent companies, rewarding good companies with excellent customer service and punishing bad companies with horrible customer service with your wallet.

I won't go into the company, but it is a major coffee shop.

Wife and I, wife is 8.5 months pregnant, at the time and we walk into this major brand coffee shop.

I'm not going to say it by name, founded in Seattle and my wife asks to use the washroom. The employee says, no, you're not allowed.

We're not able to let anybody use the washroom.

    My wife was pregnant.

Have you no sympathy at all?

The employee basically sent us to the competitor.

She actually said, oh, coffee shop such and such down the street has a washroom that they're allowing people to use.

You just sent your client to the competitor and admitted that the competitor is going to treat us better than you're treating us.

Let that sink in for a minute.

As a business owner, you might spend hundreds, thousands, or hundreds of thousands of dollars on branding, customer experience, trying to sell your product. Only to have an employee ruin that all for you.

And because I absolutely love giving my money to companies that provide superior customer service, I think twice before I spend money at that company now. Because it's the little things.

It’s very easy to treat somebody like crap and you might not think that the gesture was a small thing, but to me it wasn't a small thing.

Before I decide to spend money with that company again, I look for other companies to spend money with. Particularly mom and pop shops in relation to a big corporation. Treat your customers like gold and they will spread the word for you as well.

Grow your clientele of rabid loyal clients. Reward good companies, punish horrible companies with your wallet.

This is nelly, build your army and enjoy your life.

    Keep building.

  • 6. Superior Customer Service From The Most Important Cake
Solopreneurs.Yeah, that's a hard word to say, isn't it?Solopreneurs, prepare for battle. In this episode, I'd like to talk about the most important cake I ever ordered. The most significant cake I ever ordered. Both for myself and for my opinion of the bakery that I ordered the cake from. This goes back to providing superior service for your clientele. It was 5pm on a Sunday. My newborn daughter had just come home from the hospital for the first time.So we bought a cake to celebrate. It was a busy day, rushing around getting balloons and everything ready for the baby reveal to the grandparents.I forgot that perhaps the bakery would have been closed by the time I went to it.I received a phone call oh about 5-10 minutes after the bakery had closed and they asked, “We have your cake here. Are you coming to pick it up?I said, yeah, I'm on my way. What time do you guys close? And she said 10 minutes ago.Oh crap, was my immediate reaction.I asked, “can you do me a favor and is it possible to stay open? I'm about 15 minutes away.”She said “hold on,” then came back on the phone and said, “Yep, no worries.”“We'll be here for you.”What a relief. In the grander scheme of things, not having a cake might be a small thing. But because it was to celebrate the birth of my daughter, my first, it wasn’t a small thing for me.Can you imagine, a celebration of your firstborn, you order a cake, then don’t make it to the bakery before they close?Coming home empty handed would have been embarrassing. Let alone having to face my wife with no cake. It’s actually pretty funny thinking about how it would have played out.The bakery could have easily closed. Called it a night. Without checking in on me.But they stayed open and waited for me.They didn't even ask what the cake was for. Surely, they weren’t aware of the importance that cake was to me.They might have understood it was a special occasion, based on what the cake said. They could probably figure that out.But they gave me no attitude. And I am forever grateful to that bakery for that small gesture that meant so much to me.Those are the little things that as a business owner, it doesn't take you much to do, but means a lot to your customer or client. From now on when I order a cake, I'm going to that bakery first.I'm not going to the company down the street from my place that closes sometimes early without notice. And, you know we ordered a cake from them before, the place down the street from my house. They didn't really put any care and effort into the cake we ordered.Meanwhile, this superior customer service bakery has a comparable product. But the service wins out. This is how you take price out of the competitive equation.I will never price shop this bakery ever again. There's a jeweler I work with locally that I don't ever price shop either. She does custom stuff, even the non-custom stuff I don’t price shop. It's fantastic quality. She’s very transparent. The service is through the roof.If you provide superior customer service to your customers, price doesn't matter as much. You no longer compete on price.I want to repeat that. If you provide superior customer service to your clientele, you will no longer have to compete on price.I do not price shop the bakery now because they went above and beyond for me.I will not price shop my jewelry because of the above and beyond service that she consistently provides for me.For Mother’s Day I sent her a quick email, we brainstormed a few ideas and within 2 or 3 days, she had my request ready for me.We messaged back and forth. She showed me samples. I absolutely trust this jeweler.Because of the trust factor, I do not price shop this jeweler. The service just far surpasses any experience I’ve ever had with her competition. She has essentially wiped out her competition in my eyes.

Hello, I am nelly and this is the Build Your Army podcast.

And in this episode, I want to talk about not waiting for other people’s permission to start your business or for everything to be perfect.

I have launched a podcast and the biggest tech podcast platform is not ready for me.

But instead of waiting to launch, I'm launching with every other podcast platform.

This is exactly why you should own your own platform and go like gangbusters. Start your business and continue moving things forward.

    They may work themselves out.

In the first episode, I mentioned just winging it and not caring about how things play out. That’s exactly proven to be the case.

The biggest podcast platform is having tech issues and rather than waiting for them to catch up and fix their issues, I am going ahead. I do not want to wait for somebody else to get their crap together for me to run my business.

I may be giving up on a large audience for that platform.

But let's say you were to be de-platformed from that platform, you can’t put all your eggs in just one basket to run your business.

People get de-platformed all the time these days.

But you know what, they continue to run their business. Sometimes are even more successful for it.

Instead of living in fear, go out and do your thing.

Don't wait for anybody. Go ahead, make it happen. Own your own platform so that you're not relying on somebody else to allow you to run your business.

In this podcast episode, it's all about just going out there and do your thing. The rest will fall into place as long as you're constantly running your business and moving ahead.

In order to own your own platform, head on over to buildyourarmy.com to start your website and build your own funnel. You can have a website, a funnel, appointment scheduling, anything you desire, it's all in one ecosystem.

Head on over to buildyourarmy.com for a free 14 day test drive.

And that is the lesson of the day.

Do not wait for other people's permission for you to get your business going. Do not wait for the perfect circumstance.

Success Coaches or Coaches in general selling an $8000 product before they even get to know your name.Imagine that. Because this podcast is a view from the buyer's perspective, I want you to imagine yourself as a Success Coach. But put yourself in the mind of your potential buyer.Okay, your potential buyer is surfing online and they stumble upon your site and they don't know you. This is their first introduction to you.And you do not have on your website a section where they can enter their information in exchange for a mini course or a mini consultation.Even if it's a small product for sale like nine bucks or 27 bucks.Something that allows your potential customer to get to know how you work and how you provide solutions. At that point, if they were to sign up for your mini course, then you can sell them through building the rapport and working with them.Your $8000 monster course to dive deeper into creating a solution for them. But if your website has just your $8000 program and no other way for them to get to know you first.Man, if you can make those sales happen from just an initial visit, then you are the greatest copywriter, web content creator in the world. And you need to be selling that as your course.Instead of just coaching and mentoring, what you should do is create a mini offer.Allow that person, those potential customers, to pay for that mini offer experience, show your customer how you teach. On the back end, offer them that big monster high ticket product or at least do like these mini consulting meetings with them or whatever.Give them a sample of what you do.If you look at Tony Robbins, who’s probably the biggest coach or mentor, consultant out there. The biggest name anyways. And even he doesn't sell his $80,000 dollar mastermind or coaching weekend.Whatever it is, one on one coaching, or even his $10,000 weekends, his live events. He doesn't sell that on any of his websites or anything. He gives you a free, uh, look into how he does things through, like a Facebook group and a free weekend event or something like that. And then in that, he will then upsell you or offer you his higher ticket one on one, smaller group coaching offers. And that's really how anyone really should do it.If you're a success coach and you're trying to sell five figure product prices just from website visitors, not gonna happen. So what you do is use a funnel. When they visit your site, you sell them a smaller ticket item. You capture their information in the email flow going forward in perpetuity. You can offer the bigger, higher ticket item as you build rapport with your potential customer, and they know, like, trust you and want to work with you and want more of you.And that's how it's done.Or you can flip them, flip them into a webinar and do webinars, if that is what you would like to do or one on one meetings. But either way, you have to start with the smaller offer.Because if I come to your website and you're offering me this $8000 product and I just met you online for the first time, it's not going to happen.Like how about, uh, you're not even going to offer a reach around first?Come on.All right, that's it for today.High Ticket Coach.Five figure products without even knowing your name first. Not good. Do it right.Head on over to buildyourarmy.com.Create your sales funnel there, and I don't even ask you for a credit card. And I'll let you use the system for 14 days, complete opposite of what some of these Success Coaches are doing. You have to put yourself in the shoes of your buyer. It's all about the buyer experience. Not you're selling experience.Keep building and enjoy your life. And to break my rule again, instead of just offering one call to action, I'm asking you to complete two.Head over to buildyourarmy.app/mobile for my free app with free tips and str...

Imagine that. Because this podcast is a view from the buyer's perspective, I want you to imagine yourself as a Success Coach. But put yourself in the mind of your potential buyer.

Okay, your potential buyer is surfing online and they stumble upon your site and they don't know you.

This is their first introduction to you.

Man, if you can make those sales happen from just an initial visit, then you are the greatest copywriter, web content creator in the world.

If you look at Tony Robbins, who’s probably the biggest coach or mentor, consultant out there.

    The biggest name anyways.

And even he doesn't sell his $80,000 dollar mastermind or coaching weekend.

Whatever it is, one on one coaching, or even his $10,000 weekends, his live events.

You capture their information in the email flow going forward in perpetuity.

You can offer the bigger, higher ticket item as you build rapport with your potential customer, and they know, like, trust you and want to work with you and want more of you.

    And that's how it's done.

Or you can flip them, flip them into a webinar and do webinars, if that is what you would like to do or one on one meetings.

But either way, you have to start with the smaller offer.

Because if I come to your website and you're offering me this $8000 product and I just met you online for the first time, it's not going to happen.

  • 3. Network Marketers Ask Strangers To Join Their Business

Network Marketers offer strangers to join their business.

That is why that industry has stigma. Other than that the industry is legit.

I participate in network marketing, actually love the business model, manage a team.

Commission is only earned when a product is sold.

    Beautiful.

The industry has stigma because of the way the leaders train.

    It’s called their downline.

So the person who sponsors you is your upline, the person you bring into the business is your downline.

So your upline tells you to grow your downline this horrible way.

One size fits all, which I've never agreed with.

One size doesn’t fit all for anything.

But in that industry, they force it down your throat because that is how they did it.

So this is how it's gonna work for you, and you're thinking it's not gonna work for me because it's not a genuine way for me to deliver the message.

I'm not gonna sit there on Facebook for two hours at a time messaging random people.

It's become such a thing that it's known as the "Hey Girl" message, which is what it is because I actually received one once.

I mean, it was from a person participating in the same business that I was participating in. And I gotta "Hey Girl" message.

And then later I realized that that was a thing, you know, send out "Hey Girl" messages.

You'd be awesome at doing what I'm doing blah, blah, blah good on that person.

They were successful and it worked for them.

    It doesn't work for everybody.

That's the thing also, you know, I've done these trainings where people tell you what to do, send out these messages on Facebook.

And I actually messaged somebody that knew somebody I knew personally and they were literally mocking me because of my approach.

    And I thought, “they're right.”

    Why?

Why would this person join you?

Hey, we live in the same neighborhood, so awesome to connect.

Oh, by the way, do you want to start a business with me?

In another podcast episode, I talked about Realtors proposing on the first date.

This is like asking for sex at the dinner table on the first date, or even further, not proposing but actually getting married on the first date.

    It's one step further.

Being in business with somebody is such an intimate thing that there is no way a good working relationship would work this way.

If you jump from a random message to building a business with a person, you got to wonder about the relationship.

Building a business with a business partner is like building a relationship with your ideal client.

You have to build a relationship with that person before they decide to buy from you.

So in Network Marketing, why would it be any different?

Why would I start a business with you or join your business?

I've got to know you more than just Hey, how's it going?

    What are you up to?

    It happens.

    Don't get me wrong.

There are stories of "I met this person walking my dog."
