  • 22. Sisterhood Of The Travelling Ugly Leggings
If you've ever participated in the network marketing industry, you will notice that it is a group of amazingly positive people.I don't know if amazingly is even a word but whatever. It's just made up of extremely positive people. And you often think, are these people actually positive? Does the industry make them this way? Do they become this way?Because of all the motivational and inspirational stuff around them? Are they absolutely enjoying their business? Is it a facade? They're always so positive. And how are you having fun and loving life? It's fantastic to see. But you often wonder how much of it is actually real? And then you start to think it's a bit cultish, isn't it? It's a bit like a cult. Well, there might be positive cults out there, right. Maybe there's benefits to being in a cult, like a sisterhood of women, or men coming together in harmony, to have an aligned goal of achieving your life's dreams. What is so wrong with that? Absolutely nothing. What is wrong with that is if it's fake, and a facade, and if deep down inside, they actually hate their business, because they despise the activity they have to perform, to keep their business alive, or keep this whole image alive to keep the recruiting coming. Then it's an endless hamster wheel that you can't get off.If that's what's happening, then that's no good. And that's why I only recruit online and with an automated funnel, and not through the traditional ways that you're taught to do the business. But back to that sisterhood, that bond, that community. It can be very powerful. Brotherhood too, a bond, whatever you want to call it. But watching this documentary, continuing with the documentary theme of LulaRich, those leggings are fucking ugly, are they not? Like am I the only one who thinks those leggings are fucking ugly? I'm watching this documentary and typically I fall in love with network marketing because of the product or the compensation plan typically comes secondary. But if I'm using the product anyways, what's it to me to actually get the discount? Sell some products, introduce other people to the opportunity to let them go at it and help guide and consult, train and mentor. Nothing wrong with that. That whole network marketing is a scam I never understood because you get paid if you sell products. So is going to the mall a scam?I never quite related with that whole network marketing is a scam belief. But people scam themselves into believing that if you buy a bunch of product that miraculously it will be sold. That's where the scam is. You scam yourself because you don't have business training. Maybe. I don't, I don't know what it is. But I'm watching this documentary and I'm looking at these pants. The maxi skirts were cute. The leggings were freaking ugly.Apparently they're comfortable and people were going ballistic over these patterns. Because there's only 3000 of a certain pattern ever made or something so there was scarcity to it and some uniqueness to it. But the patterns were ugly. If your pants are comfortable, but they're ugly, do you still want to have the pair the pants? Do you still want to wear them? Or do you just wear them for like fancy leggings around the house.I'm laughing because I could see it turn. This is a four part series. You can see the first episode is about all the positive things, the opportunity, and the second episode you start to see how things are starting to go wrong. Because this company has grown so fast and they're starting to get messy. Just see the downhill turn of this documentary because the third and the fourth episode I bet it's gonna be all about how the products were junk.Because the manufacturing went to the crapper or something. In the first episode, there's an introduction of things to come. I guess there was moldy products. Sorry, I'm laughing because it's terrible if you spend five grand starting a company, and the products were junk, I really feel for you.

Because of all the motivational and inspirational stuff around them? Are they absolutely enjoying their business? Is it a facade? They're always so positive. And how are you having fun and loving life? It's fantastic to see. But you often wonder how much of it is actually real? And then you start to think it's a bit cultish, isn't it? Selling breast milk to become a bossbabe. Now, you can do whatever you want with your breast milk, I do not care. It has nothing to do with me clearly. It is more the company that encourages it that I am concerned about, if you will.I'll tell you a story. I'm watching this documentary called LulaRich, if you are familiar with it, it is based on the company LulaRoe. And there is a scene where one person says, one of the the retailers decided to sell their breast milk in order to raise the startup funds to purchase the starter package, which is something like $5,000 for 300 pieces of leggings and maxi skirts. So this woman apparently sold her breast milk to raise the funds to start this business. I'm not as perturbed by that as I am by the fact that it was then encouraged and used as a success story, or an example of how to think out of the box to start your company and raise the startup funds. Where do you draw the line? Would prostitution be the next suggestion? And so they tell the story about this woman who raised the funds. Then there's a scene where they're asking the founders, if that's ever been encouraged, and the owner says no, never. That's ridiculous. Then it cuts to a video of a team on a webinar or a conference call or something. And they clearly say, oh, one of the retailers, they raised startup funds by selling their breast milk. Perhaps the founders might not have been encouraging it. But clearly the upline team member, the mentor or whatever they call them at that organization was encouraging it and using that as a case study to have people think out of the box to come up with the funds to invest in the business. Now clearly, when you're in an MLM company, your upline might say stupid shit all the time. And the founders can't control what the upline says. But the founders can set the culture and probably talk about things that are out of bounds. So perhaps, you know, the the founders didn't know about it, perhaps they did encourage that kind of thing. Apparently, the founders were helping people get liposuction operations in order to look the part and help them recruit with their lifestyle choices. I mean, who am I to judge these things? This documentary could be biased because there they could be just interviewing rogue former distributors or it could be a shit show at that company. I don't know, I have never participated in that company. So I don't have first hand experience. Documentaries can be slanted one way, and try to portray a specific narrative. But that is not how you become a boss. There are other ways to raise funds. But you know what, who am I? I'm not judging that person, who the hell am I to judge? I don't know that person. I found it interesting, the people behind the documentary obviously found it fascinating enough to mention it. So how to become a bossbabe by selling your breast milk. You sell your breast milk and then you raise the funds to use those funds to start a business. There could be worse decisions in life I guess. What about the baby though? Did we hear from the baby? I want to hear from the baby. Did the baby go hungry?I'm sure the baby had enough food. Anyways, in the next episode, we're going to talk about out the Sisterhood of the Traveling Ugly Leggings. Catch you in the next episode. Keep building and enjoy your life.

  • 20. Avoid Being A Basic MLM Bitch
Avoid being an MLM basic bitch. Men, women, gender neutral. I'm talking to all of you. When I say basic bitch, I just mean don't make stupid decisions, okay? Just because your upline encourages you to do something, it does not mean you should. Let's go through some examples. Do not go into debt, or deeper into debt to purchase your startup kit. If you are doing that, you might be buying too much of a starter kit, maybe go lean, or you might be joining the wrong opportunity. Because you should not have to pay an ongoing fee, buying a minimum amount of inventory to stay a member, only benefits the owners of the company or the upline, particularly if your upline gets paid from your inventory purchases. That's a red flag because your upline is not looking out for you. They just want you to keep ordering and ordering because that's going to create sales and commission for them. So maybe take a harder look at your opportunity that you're looking to join or that you are participating in currently. Do not go deeper into debt. I know, starting a business, you have to invest money. Any traditional business, if you were opening up a retail store, you would have to go into debt, obviously to do leasehold improvements. So you probably have a loan to raise capital, or your monthly bills, or you might have an operating line of credit to hold you over in the slower times, things like that. So debt is associated with business, but for your skit to get started, or if your business opportunity that you're joining needs you to purchase a minimum amount of inventory month over month, just take a deeper look into that. Now, you are definitely a basic bitch, if you spend everything you earn. You should be investing back into your business or yourself or pocketing some money. It's kind of like going to the casino and you're playing blackjack. And you start with 20 bucks and you get up to $200, maybe pocket the $200 and then start again with another $20 so that no matter what, you're going to walk away with a profit and maybe gamble or invest with with the profits, after you've pocketed some. For example, if you earn $83,000 a year in network marketing, that's pretty good. That's a legit side hustle that can replace your full time income. However, if you are spending $78,000 on merchandise, at the end of the year, you've made $5,000. Nothing to write home about, nothing you can leave your job from, nothing to be excited about. It reminds me of people who brag about how much they earn on Facebook ads. But you know, they'll say oh, I make $30,000 a month on Facebook revenue. Okay, are you spending $32,000 a month on ads because you're still at a loss. There's a few retail companies in Canada that this reminds me of, EATON's comes to mind. You know, they're making a ton of money, but they were losing money so they couldn't figure out a way to be profitable. And I think Sears has also gone down that same path. So the top line, your revenue is not enough, you have to look at your bottom line, look at how much you're spending. Look how much you're investing and go from there. Now there was one story of a woman that spent $10,000 on a meal because she was riding high with network marketing. She was making tons of money. If you're gonna spend like that though, 10 grand on a meal, it doesn't matter how much you make, you're not going to keep any of it. It's not sustainable. There's another story, and I don't want to come from a place of scarcity here. But you gotta think critically. You know, it doesn't really matter how much you make it matters how much you keep. So if you're making 10 grand a month, and then you spend 10 grand in in one meal.Give your head a shake. You have nobody to blame but yourself if you're making decisions like that. Don't spend all of your earnings on lifestyle, fashion and accessories, purses and things to create this image that you're making a shit ton of money so that you can attract more people to your downline.

  • 19. Network Marketing Isn’t As Easy As They Say It Is
Network marketing is not as easy as they say it is. They will tell you, you just have to follow these three simple steps. You get your own online store, set up to host a few parties, the guests will then host their parties, people will join, people will buy products, they will then host their parties, you will show them how to do it and then they will be off to the races and go. It's not that easy. And I'll tell you why. For one, you have to be unique. Yes, it's beautiful that you get a bunch of tools for you. However, you should have your own system that you own, that you're directing customers to that site, not their site. And in order to stand out you must be unique. So in order for you to be successful in the network marketing industry, it is no different than any other business. You cannot rely on just this turnkey system. And everything will fall into place. It's a successful industry because that's how they sell it to you. It's a beautiful pitch. I mean, they've perfected it over decades and decades, and every network marketing company seems to act the same way which is wild to me.But you absolutely must be unique in your approach. No different than an author, no different than an internet marketer, no different than the coffee shop down the street. You have to set yourself apart. However, to make it easier on you while still owning your own brand, and image and make it your own. Without some difficulty, I have gone ahead and created network marketing sales funnels for you that you can tap into and utilize one for selling your product, one for selling your opportunity and growing it with technology that is done for you, built for you. You don't have to worry about how it all works. It's easy, but the major differences instead of sending customers to their e-commerce store to sell the product, you send them to your own site. First you capture their email, you build a relationship with them, you own the relationship for life. Heck, at that point, you can sell them anything you want. If you have a digital course you can sell them that too. If you change opportunities, then you can keep that list, take them with you to offering them maybe to join you at the next opportunity. If you only send them to your duplicate store. And you act like everybody else does, you're not setting yourself apart. You're the same. At that point. You don't own your customer base. Because if you move to a different network marketing company, say things don't work out at the one company you're with and you want to move. If you don't have that email list of all those people that you've been working with, training and helping, supporting, you will lose them and then you are not able to move them to your other company. First thing you have to do, start with your own email list, first. Not the product or the opportunity. I show you this at outrank.buildyourarmy.com. Sign up for the free giveaway. I'll show you how this all works. We can work together. I'll help you build your own downline, not even mine. buildyourarmy.com. Keep building, enjoy your life. In the next episode. • 18. Excellent Business Model Crappy Marketing
I've been ragging on the network marketing industry for quite some time. So let's talk about the positives and the benefits of it because there definitely are quite a few. For one, the products are fantastic. And you'll notice that the reason you believe so much in the system of joining the network marketing opportunity is because you did fall in love with those products. Nine times out of 10 that's probably what it is. And you think since I like these products, why not make a business out of it, I'm spending the money on the products anyways. So why not turn my expense into a revenue? Very valid reason for going into business. Why is the model great? And why do people believe in it so much? Leverage. The reason why the marketing methods suck, though, are because they teach you how to do it unleveraged. One on one meetings, coffee dates, asking every random person. There is no sustainability. And no real leverage there, you have to do all of the activity yourself, you have to also rely on others to do that same activity as yourself. And if it is hard for you to grasp it and do it consistently, it is definitely going to be hard for other people to do it as well. Not everybody's gonna have the same drive. So the methods of finding new people over and over and over again, are very tiresome. However, the reason the business model is fantastic is because you make a commission for selling a product, you get customer service with that, you get a warehouse, you get shipping and receiving, you get research and development, you do not have to spend the millions of dollars it would take to own a piece of let's say Sephora, for example, the makeup store. So if you are selling a makeup company for network marketing, for example, you get a chunk of that, like right out of the gate, you just have to spend a little bit of money to sign up a processing fee, for the most part, maybe buy some samples, and you're off to the races. Beautiful. So the other benefit to that is you make a commission when you sell the product, a product that you're already using anyways. And you can make a commission when someone on your team also makes a sale. That to me is just affiliate marketing, which has existed for quite a long time. With the internet, Amazon, basically, they're as big as they are because of their affiliate marketing program. You can sell somebody else's product, make a commission and continue to sell that product, you do not have to own the product to make a commission from the product, you can start an Amazon store, sell some electronics through your link. And Amazon will reward you with commission from directing that sale. Creating that sale.Network marketing is no different. The only difference is affiliate marketing is one level, you have the company that owns the product, then you have yourself that sells it and you can you make a commission from selling that product. With network marketing, however you make a commission from selling that product but you also then make a commission from somebody else that is part of your team that sells that product. It's called multi level marketing because there's unlimited amounts of levels, some companies max out at like seven levels or something like that. But that's pretty deep to begin with. You have the opportunity to earn commission on multiple people's efforts alongside your efforts. And you can train development, coach and do all of that stuff. I mean, it's multiple industries in one. You can satisfy your coaching and consulting needs. And you can share in that person's revenue that you are coaching and consulting. That is why I love the industry. I am a teacher and instructor. I facilitated before. I developed sales teams. Typically I don't share in the development of those sales teams as far as the commission that they produce from my teachings. But with network marketing or multi level marketing, you are able to share in the revenue created by your teachings and your instructions...

Creating that sale.

Network marketing is no different.
