How do we support the delivery of computer science (CS) at all levels? As evidenced by the rapid uptick in the adoption of CS standards across the nation, it is an essential part of the next century of learning. To get CS into every classroom, teachers need support. Camille Sloan Schroeder, Director of Efforts for K-12 Outreach for the College of Engineering, is here to share strategies, and how she’s making that change in her world.
By making CS easy to use and supporting teachers, she’s making sure it is something they WANT to be a part of, thereby opening new doors to all students. Camille, accompanied by Elizabeth Bacon, discusses how to address common implementation challenges, such as teacher buy-in, preparation, scheduling constraints, choosing a program that aligns with the school’s educational values, and taking the scary out of CS.
