Paul Ma, VP, Lead Portfolio Strategist, joins the show today to explore where we are in the business cycle and see what that means for portfolio construction. With inflation still sticky and the banking sector taking a hit, Paul discusses options investors can go to in this current market environment. He says that expensive tech companies could be a good investment as they are still seen as dependable revenue generators. Paul adds that in an environment where there is higher inflation, stocks, and bonds are highly correlated and can go down together. You need to look for asset classes less correlated with stocks and bonds. Through slides and charts, Paul explains how alternatives could be a good choice if you are looking for another asset than bonds. He says in the short term, all eyes will continue to be on inflation if that starts to cool down, that could be an environment favorable for equities.
