Building Stronger Family Connections to Promote Healing

Listen Later

In this episode, Dr. David Hanscom continues his discussion with internist Dr. Matt Lederman and his wife, family practitioner Dr. Alona Pulde. They discuss how family relationships trigger us the most, and how the reactions to these triggers can amplify the experience of pain.  Through a process of empathic listening, trust can be built and the needs of both the patient in pain and their family members can be met and the process of healing can be accelerated. They illustrate the process of empathic communication via a role play.
Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matthew Lederman have combined conventional medicine, Chinese medicine, and Nonviolent Communication to create their groundbreaking health care paradigm. As corporate Vice Presidents for Whole Foods Market they implemented their Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine program cutting health care costs and improving health outcomes for thousands of patients.  Their additional contributions include starring in the life-changing documentary, Forks Over Knives, lecturing for eCornell, serving as adjunct assistant medical professors, appearing as medical advisors for popular health and wellness media outlets, and becoming NY Times Best Selling Authors, publishing five books on nutrition and health.
