E3 Hero’s Journey Requirements |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “The hero’s journey is inside of you; tear off the veils and open the mystery of yourself.”----- Joseph Campbell Starting the journey requires you to leave behind the illusion of your insignificance. It requires that we leave behind a shrunken sense of possibilities and choose to live a big life. We can live big lives only if we are willing to become big ourselves and in the process give up the illusion of powerlessness and take responsibility for our lives. Initially we may start the journey with a desire to achieve some image of perfection. Ultimately we need to let go of whatever predetermined ideal holds us captive and just allow ourselves to take our own unique journeys. This is not a self improvement project. It is a way of finding and honoring what is really true about you. Everyone who takes a journey is already a hero!

E1 Embarking on Your Hero’s Journey |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “A hero is someone who,in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway”. —-Christoper Reeve A great model for living life to the fullest is found in stories about heroism. The heroic quest is about saying yes to yourself and your purpose. When we do this, we feel more alive and are more effective in the world. The hero’s journey is about finding the treasure of your true self and then returning to give your gift to help transform others and in that process we also end up transforming our own lives. The complete Journey consists of three stages: Preparation, Journey, and Return. There are dangers and pitfalls as well as rewards along the way.

“There are always new, grander challenges to confront, and a true winner will embrace each one.” -- Mia Hamm Be a possibility thinker. Set your goals by what is possible instead of what is probable. Cultivate faith and courage by outlining and defining the most desirable possible outcome. Then remind yourself that it actually is possible… even for you. Once you begin to believe it is possible, gradually refine the details and continue to play them over and over in your head. Soon you will notice feelings of faith, self confidence and courage - also known as the “winning feeling.” When you feel successful and self-confident you will act successfully. Define your end goal or result then picture yourself clearly and vividly accomplishing it. Think of everything that is possible and then see yourself attaining it.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution." -Albert Einstein Your nervous system can’t tell real failure from imagined failure. When your creative mechanism is set for success you experience that “winning feeling.” We do this by keeping our positive goal in mind. Accept negative feelings as a challenge. If we react to negative feelings aggressively and positively, they become challenges. These challenges then bring more power and ability within us. Substitute pleasant mental images every time you catch yourself caught up in worry. You are free to accept or reject negative “failure” feelings or you could focus on “success” feelings.

“There is one grand lie - that we are limited. The only limits we have are the limits we believe.” -- Wayne Dyer Build success patterns into your gray matter by building patterns and feelings of success at any time and in regular intervals. If we are habitually frustrated by failure, we will begin to acquire habitual feelings of failure. Instead, arrange things so we can succeed in little things and build an atmosphere of success that carries over into larger goals. Gradualness is the secret. Little advances daily add up to greater success and accomplishments than trying to do it all at once or in larger proportions.Keeping the “winning feeling” cancels our obstacles and impossibilities and adjusts errors and mistakes in order to move closer to success. Spend time going back into your memory and reliving past successful experiences. In your imagination, revive the entire picture in as much detail as you can. In your mind’s eye “see” the event and all the little details that accompanied your success. Include all the senses like sounds, smells, etc.

“There is a powerful driving force inside every human being that, once unleashed, can make any vision, dream, or desire a reality."-- Anthony Robbins Our past does not have to dictate our present or our future. We can choose to adopt a winning feeling which alters how past experience shows up in current results. Use positive and constructive worry to your advantage. Mentally begin to play with the idea that you can achieve complete and inevitable success. Don’t force yourself or try to coerce your mind. Just do what you do when you worry, only “worry” about a positive goal and a desirable outcome instead of a negative goal and undesirable outcome. Don’t try to force yourself to have complete faith in your desired success. That is too much, too fast. Instead, use gradualness and think about the desired end result and add possibility thinking. What could happen favorably? Start there. Old recordings and patterns can be changed. The choice is up to you.

“Nothing in the universe is contingent, but all things are conditioned to exist and operate in a particular manner by the necessity of the divine nature”. - Baruch Spinoza There are many triggers or disturbing stimuli in our various environment situations that we have become conditioned to and that we respond out of habit to even if the response makes no sense. Many of us learn fear from our parents and other well meaning people in our lives. We were taught to fear strangers for example. The response to avoid strangers served us as children. But many of us still have this same fear of strangers as adults and it interferes with our abilities to build a business, make cold calls and network. We can change our conditioned responses when we make the practice of relaxing instead of responding. We can use visualization to practice our new response ahead of time so it is ready when we need it. During this process it might be difficult to ignore the stimuli, especially if it is triggered unexpectedly. In this case you can achieve the same result by delaying your response. Delaying the response breaks up and interferes with the automatic response. It can be as easy as counting to 10 when you are tempted to use your conditioned response.

“Sometimes you just have to calm down a little bit and let the system work itself”. -BlakeGriffin Many professionals cause worry, insecurity and tension by trying to respond emotionally to something that doesn’t exist except in our imaginations. Doing nothing is the proper response to an unreal problem! Carry these thoughts with you as your “Calm Professional” first aid kit: Inner disturbance (the opposite of tranquility) is almost always caused by over-response. Practice not responding and put some distance between yourself and the disturbing stimuli. Cure old habits of over-response, triggers and conditioned reflexes by delaying the automatic, habitual response. Counting to 10 is a great place to start. Relaxation is nature’s own tranquilizer. It is also a “non-response.” Learn physical relaxation by incorporating it into your daily routine. Use the “quiet room in your mind” technique both as a daily practice to tone down nervous responses and to clear your emotional mechanism of “carry-over” emotions that would not help the next situation. Stop scaring yourself with your own mental pictures! Respond emotionally only to what is actually here and now … and ignore the rest.

E39 Escapism and Your Success |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Meditation is not about stopping thoughts, but recognizing that we are more than our thoughts and our feelings.” — Arianna Huffington Our nervous system needs a certain amount of escapism from the continuous bombardment of external stimuli. Your soul and your nervous system need time for rest, recuperation and protection every bit as much as your physical body. You can create a quiet room in your mind as a place to escape to several times a day. Every time you go there you are clearing your success mechanism before taking on a new task. It is especially important to do this at the end of the work day as a way to transition. Insomnia and rudeness are often emotional carry-overs. If we don’t clear our mind before bed it can lead to us mentally and emotionally still trying to solve problems. But the really helpful thing to know is that friendliness, love, peace, quiet and calmness also carry over. Spending a few minutes in the quiet room of your mind wipes the slate clean of negative emotions and moods.
E37 Response Is Good. Over-Response Is A Bad Habit |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz
1. “Every intention is a trigger for transformation.”-- Deepak Chopra 2. Outside triggers happen to each one of us throughout the day. The external stimulus from our environment suddenly changes our intentions. For example, you might be sitting quietly preparing to do some work when all of a sudden the phone rings. When we get a phone call, most of us rush to answer it without even thinking. This outside stimulus moves us into action without us even thinking about it. 3. The point is this: You do not HAVE to answer the phone. You do not have to obey any outside stimulus. You can choose to totally ignore it. 4. Now see yourself sitting quietly and choosing to ignore the phone. Even though you are aware of it ringing, you no longer obey it. The phone has no power over you any more and does not move you into action. In the past you responded out of habit. Now you can form a new habit of not responding. Also notice that not responding does not consist of “doing something” or making an effort or resisting or fighting. You merely relax and ignore the stimuli. How could life be different using this method?
