The Bums start part one of Episode 0048 crying in their beer over the end of 2022 NFL football, but not before reviewing post season landing spots for former Chicago Bear staffers Ryan Pace, Matt Nagy and possibly a former #1 Draft pick, as well as other key moves around the NFL; talk shifts to NBA basketball and the absolute sham that is the NBA All Star game; Paddy’s Xavier Musketeers take a Top 10 team to triple OT; while Juwan Howard sits in the penalty box for the remainder of the regular season due to a dust-up at the end of the Wisconsin vs. Michigan game (Rocky’s hot take may not be so popular); NCAA’s March Madness slowly starts to take form, as conference championships start next soon; MLB baseball unlikely to start on-time, and Eric Kay’s culo is muy, muy itchio (find out why and more).

Part two starts with another world-famous (exception: Australia) beer review, thanks to Boston Dough’s creativeness procuring another creation from Tree House Brewing in his home state of MA — “Hello Cape Cod” an amazing American IPA that drinks like an ass-kicker but weighs in at 6.7% ABV; the Bums get two global topics out of the way (CDC Guidelines are changing amongst mixed emotions & Fuckface Vlad Putin invades a sovereign nation — the Bums stand with Ukraine); a local Chicago brewery, Twisted Hippo, goes down for the count at the hands of a fire — and close with a shout-out to fellow podcasters “Beerly Football”.

On the top of Episode 0047, the Bums perform a forensic analysis of Super Bowl 56 in all of its splendor; while two NFL owners find themselves in aqua caliente (which is Spanish for “hot water” and English for “rat fucked”); as talk turns to NCAA hoops, and Paddy’s beloved Xavier Musketeers experience RPI shrinkage; the 2022 Winter Olympics and figure skating get a black eye on the blades of Kamila Valieva (the sneaky Russians are at it again); and hopes of spring MLB are slimmer than air at 35,000 feet.

Turning to the bottom half, another beer review takes center stage — this time at the hands of Brooklyn, NY’s own Other Half Brewing and their ‘Short, Dark & Handsome’ peanut butter and milk chocolate stout (ABV 7.2%); Eddie and Paddy take a field trip to Chicago’s Avondale Tap, Paddy panics and gives Fedex the good ol’ deer in headlights (find out why); Eddie recounts the gender gap in gift giving; the Bums review two episodes from the popular Netflix series, Bad Sports — the Enter Sandman episode is not for the faint of heart and/or PETA members; as Episode 0047 closes with a farewell to United Kingdom’s Ye Olde Fighting Cocks public house, purported to be the oldest pub in history (circa 793 AD).

The Bums are back for Episode 0046 after Rocky’s back-to-back boondoggle (WI and MI respectively); the stage is set, the t-shirts are printed, the banners are hung, the ladies of the evening are called — it’s Super Bowl preview time; a breeze by of who Bears GM, Ryan Poles, picks for his field generals; Tom F. Brady puts his legacy out to pasture (with or without cow pies, you decide); the NFL head coaching hiring circuit is white hot (whiter than Lovie Smith’s beard); The Washington Football Team’s new moniker sucks a bag of you know whats; Rocky Wirtz is defiant in his corruption and despicable behavior, as the BlackEyeHawks remain in the penalty box; NCCA hijinks ensue; former NFL lineman Greg Robinson had better call Saul; before the bums close with a discussion around how NBA Celtic Enis Freedom Kantor gets Kaepernicked.

The back nine kicks off with another infamous beer review, with a look see into ‘Hexe Vibraniyum’ (ABV 6%) from Chicago’s own Empirical Brewing, a coffee forward brown ale with some pleasant surprises;  the bums bid WKR.I.P. to Howard Hesseman, aka as Dr. Johnny Fever from the popular 70s/80s sitcom; things get dark AF as Paddy recounts the shocking carnage in the wake of USC’s Dr. Geroge Tyndall systemic abuse; Rocky reviews Kohler, WI’s American Club and Kohler Spa (and discovers an absolute gem in Trattoria Stefano — upscale Southern Italian in nearby Sheboygan, WI) and also recounts the majesty that is the Pere Marquette river in the dead of winter, aka ‘The Shiver on the River’; before the bums close with a discussion around the responsibility of media giants.

The Bums are back in action for Episode 0044 —with another double beer review featuring two delicious creations from our favorite Boston-area brewers!  The first half is chock full of NFL Wildcard Weekend goings-on, as the Cincy Bengals get their first playoff victory since the H.W. Busch administration; the N.E. Pats get curb stomped by the surging Buffalo Bills; the hapless Philly Eagles are who we thought they are; the Dallas Cowboys throw up all over themselves; Big Ben Rapeless-berger hangs up his cleats amongst the media’s convenient amnesia; Kyler Murray makes NFL playoff history (not in a good way); and Bruce Arians’ quote around Tom “Never Retiring” Brady, before talk pivots to the Divisional Playoff round with picks and sticks; the Bums extensively cover the 2022 Winter Olympics (yawn, ok, not really) before talk turns very dark around the end of MLB baseball as we know it (stupid fucking bots). The bright spot comes at the hands of TreeHouse Brewing’s ‘Julius’ Hazy IPA (8.8% ABV) courtesy of Boston Dough.

The second half kicks off with a preview of Rocky’s upcoming “Shiver on the River” cold weather fishing trip on the Pere Marquette river in  Michigan; the Bums beer review bis covers Trillium Brewing’s interesting ‘Dialed-in’ courtesy of the Magnanimous McD, a double IPA brewed with Pinot Grigot grape juice (8.5% ABV); the Bums bid adieu to Chicago radio legend Les Grobstein and a tape recorder story for the ages; talk turns to the great L.A. Train Robberies (modern era version), Bitch McConnell reveals his true self, and a big settlement comes in Ann Arbor MI due to systemic corruption, as Paddy passionately reviews the NCAA’s despicable behavior (and the absence of criminal charges) as Episode 0044 ends with a charge.

The Bums are back in action after a 1-month+ reprieve from hilarity and expansive knowledge of useless information.  The front half kicks off with a smorgasbord of NFL updates, starting with the hapless Chicago Bears and running the gauntlet of Black Monday vacancies across the league; the Bums bid adieu to Bears former HC Matt “Zero Self-Awareness” Nagy, and former GM Ryan “Shitty Fucking Deal” Pace —the culling; the dismissed Head Coaching quotient and Over/Under; a walk down the NFL’s Wildcard Weekend agenda; Eddie & Rocky are reunited with a few obnoxious AF Kansas City Chief fans at one of our favorite watering holes; a debriefing from the NCAA Football National Championship game; Nick Saban may (and I repeat, may) have an actual soul; Big Jon Lester retires; before the Bums end the 1st Half with a speed round of sports celebrities “en agua caliente” (Clinton Portis, L.T.) and ring in the New Year with the first of two beer reviews — starting with a mash-up between Trillium Brewing and Dog Fish Head Brewing called Tru-Action, a Citra Mosaic IPA that measures in at 6.5% ABV (thanks McD).

The second half begins with a post-mortem salute to an impressive list of personalities who left our scorched earth (including Dan Reeves, Sam Jones, Harry Reid, Betty White, Bob Sagat, and the beloved John Madden); the Bums toast to the dearly departed with Tree House Brewing Co.’s ‘Old Hat’ American Amber Lager ( ABV 5.4%) as our medium thanks to Rocky’s favorite BIL (Boston Dough); the Bums compare notes on Holiday trips, activities (from Austin to Cancun); Paddy reviews his all-inclusive experience, and the Bum’s close as Rocky stumps on his favorite non-fiction reading material (“A People’s History of the United States” by Howard Zinn), which is compulsory reading for Americans and those seeking to understand America.

Episode 0041 marks the Bums first “special edition” recording, as the Bums welcome their first guest — Rocky’s BIL, Dough from Boston, MA; Dough kicks off the front nine with golf talk, playing to your capabilities, the short game being everything, and the importance of golf course management; before gums flap on the subject of COVID-19 related fines and suspensions for everyone EXCEPT for AA-Ron “Horse-face” Rodgers; the NCAA Football conference playoff picture starts to clear up, as Scumbag-of-the-Week honors go to former Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelley, a serial douchebag, who leaves South Bend all by himself, except for a disgusting legacy that includes having two co-ed deaths on his hands.

The Bums have an acute case of Low-E during Episode 0039 (they can’t all be gems); talk eventually turns to NFL Week 9 and the dumpster fire that was MNF (Bears vs. Stealers/refs), the silver lining of Justin Time’s progression, AARon “The Liar and Douchebag” Rodgers is flayed in the rail yard for gross negligence, while Jordan “No” Love makes his NFL debut; the Las Vegas Raiders are running out of degenerate criminals (or are they?), Odell escapes Cleveland; Cam is back in Charlotte for his swan song; Paddy heads to Ann Arbor, MI for a field trip to the Big House (travelogue); before the first half closes with a goofy-ass ESPN story about a dude who finds 164 bowling balls buried under his front porch.
