Skylar Roth is exceptional. After losing friends to mental health and after his own struggles, he decided to run across Canada to raise money for the Canadian Mental Health Association. It took him over 4 months. He ran over 7000km, raised 65 thousand dollars, slept in a Breaking Bad type RV, ran through wind, rain and up mountains and was stalked by a mountain lion. However, during his run, he did manage to meet his now girlfriend. Skylar now speaks about his experiences with mental health and his running adventures at schools and events all over Canada. Columbine High School was the location of perhaps the most infamous school shooting in American history. Over 20 years after the Columbine shootings and Amy Over is still living with it's consequences. She digs deep and invites other school shooting survivors, families, and detectives to do the same in her podcast series Confronting Columbine. When you think of an ADHD diagnosis, one tends to think of a child in primary or maybe high school. Nigel Sutton is a New Zealander ADHD coach. He was diagnosed as such in his 50's, something that is becoming more common. As it turns out, being diagnose later in life hits a bit different. Nigel talks about the grief for what may have been, the validation and living your life backwards as you place the ADHD puzzle piece into your life as you look back at past moments.

Shiva's entire family is in Iran while she is a student in Canada. Every morning she wakes up to check her phone to see if her family is still alive. The Iranian people are currently protesting the Islamic Republic, including members of Shiva's family. Over 18,000 people have so far been detained by the Islamic Republic since the start of the anti-regime protests in September, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA). Of those, 506 had been killed (including 69 children and teenagers) as of Dec. 21, 2022. With already living with challenges like depression, anxiety, home sickness, pressures from school, work and living in a foreign country, Shiva must now live with the fact her family's lives are being threatened. However, Shiva has hope the regime will fall and Iran will be free again.

The June Bug System is one of the most fascinating people I've ever talked with. They have over 30 personalities or alters, including a cat, men and women, left and right handed people, and even a non potty trained toddler. They also suffer from PNES (psychogenic non epileptic seizures) and PTSD from growing up with extreme trauma. Life gets complicated for The June Bug System, and maybe more so for their partner Cody, as they are parents of a new baby girl. Their main passion is spreading mental health awareness and ending stigmas around DID.

I met Steven in Pine Lodge, an addiction treatment centre, in 2016. I instantly liked him. In fact everyone liked him. He behaved and even looked like members of my own family. When I arrived to Pine Lodge I was riddled with anxiety but Steven's feeling of familiarity he gave me, his humour and laugh help put me at ease. Everyone wanted to sit at his table at mealtime. When he left treatment two weeks into my 28 days, I like to think I filled that vacant position he left behind! Before meeting Steven, however, his life was filled with substance abuse, violence and personal neglect that left him homeless and fighting to stay alive. Today he is an addictions counsellor, working on a masters of social work and an author. His new book Punx Not Dead is a fascinating collection of stories taken over 22 years about how Steve fell into the abyss of the streets.

Desirée grew up in theatre and dance but that all changed after a fatal car crash that left her body mangled and her brain injured.
