Burning Hearts with Rachel Herbeck

The devil often uses the tool of discouragement to get us to fall back into futile ways of living. We see today in the psalms that a tool to overcome discouragement is to worship and praise the Lord in all circumstances.

As we continue to discuss this idea of futile thinking, we see often how we are tempted to fall back into our old patterns of life. We see how sin darkens our mind and we ask for the grace to resist temptations so our minds may be enlightened by Christ.

This week we take up a section in Ephesians 4 where Paul discusses and describes the reality of the futile minds of those who don’t know Christ. We ask the Lord to deliver us from futile ways of thinking.

In contrast to hell, today we read about the glory that awaits us in Heaven. While we should desire to avoid hell, our desire should be more and more to see the face of God and this should spur us on in our spiritual journeys.

As we continue through Thessalonians 1, we read about the unquenchable fire of hell. As disciples, we need to come into knowledge of the reality that there is a hell and those who do not turn to Jesus will go there.

Along with God’s judgments come His justice. Every judgement that he makes and will make will be an act of perfect justice. As we grow in discipleship, we lobe for God’s justice to come upon the earth, and even upon ourselves.

Today through St. Paul, we discuss God’s righteous judgement that will come with the appearance of Jesus. This righteous judgement is the wisdom of God and we ask for the spiritual maturity to desire it.

This week we dive into 2 Thessalonians 1 where Paul is writing to the Thessalonians in the midst of their suffering. As we read, we are encouraged by their faith and their growth in love for each other even in their suffering.

As we wrap up this week, we are encouraged to love God without whole hearts. This leaves us united with Him, keeping our hearts undivided in affection.

Today we learn that wisdom is seeing as God sees. We ask Him for supernatural vision, to see others, our lives, and our sufferings with His supernatural vision.
