  • by design episode #36: rebekah lyons // you are free
On today’s episode we chat with the lovely Rebekah Lyons about her new book You Are Free…which releases TODAY! This is such a great book, friends!!! We devoured it, giving air high fives and crying tears of conviction. Yep, it’s THAT good.
We chat truth and get to hear about a few of Rebekah’s design loves. You don’t want to miss this one!

Rebekah is the author of Freefall to Fly: A Breathtaking Journey Toward a Life of Meaning and now You are Free: Be Who You Already Are. She is a mother of three, wife of one, and dog-walker of two living in Franklin, TN. An old soul with a contemporary, honest voice, Rebekah reveals her own battles to overcome anxiety, depression, and consumer impulses. Finding joy in raising a special needs child – she invites women to embrace the unique calling God has for each of us. A self-confessed mess, Rebekah wears her heart on her sleeve, a benefit to friends and readers alike.
Alongside her husband, Gabe, she serves as co-founder of Q Ideas, a nonprofit organization that helps Christian leaders winsomely engage in culture. The organization’s global livestream events feature thought leaders such as Malcolm Gladwell, Tim Keller, David Brooks, Ann Voskamp, Ravi Zacharias and more. Her favorite pastime is spent with her nose in a book and a discriminating cup of coffee in hand.

  • by design episode #35: valentine’s day & painting brick
IT’S VALENTINE’S DAY YO! On this episode we chat about the things we love to do to celebrate our loved ones. We chat marriage, movies, our favorite date ideas and of course…tacos.
We also talk about painting brick, in particular fireplaces, because YES. It sounds daunting, but it’s really not that hard to tackle. AND it can transform your space. So if you have an old fireplace that has a brick color that cramps your style, you might want to consider giving it a fresh coat of paint!

This little wire spool/table has been moved around quite a bit in this house, but at present is parked in front of the wood stove. Usually it has crayons and homework on it, but today it’s all gussied up for a photo shoot.

Now on to the before photo…like way before.

  • by design episode #33: Being in Community
Today we talk about what it means to be in community with others. We’ve touched on this subject before, but today we dig a little deeper and talk about how important this idea of community is for us to grow and mature in our faith. And it’s hard, right? To invest in relationships for the long haul and allow people to see the real you is just not that easy. But it’s SO worth it, and we don’t want any of you to miss out on it.
So if you have a minute, listen in to our discussion. We’re hoping you’ll be blessed to either love the people in your circles better or maybe to seek out some real relationships with people who love the Lord and can encourage you.

  • by design episode #32: Resource Global
On this week’s episode we hear from Mary & Sandy at Resource Global. They share the heart and vision of this unique nonprofit and how they are working to equip and charge young leaders all over the world to live more fully for the Lord. They currently have groups in Chicago and Jakarta, Indonesia and are exploring cohorts in other countries like Nairobi, Istanbul, Shanghai, and Lima. We absolutely LOVE what this organization is about and what they’re doing to “ready” people of faith in the workplace.
We also chat about the dynamic of work and faith, and share our perspectives as working moms. We discuss the struggle to find balance as we bounce between kids and our computer screens, and we might even throw in a few funny work stories involving breast pumps, mismatched shoes, and laundry mishaps … { yikes } !
If you haven’t heard our last episode with Mary & Sandy, be sure to check it out { episode #28: Rooted Chicago }. And head on over to www.resourceglobal.org to learn more about this amazing nonprofit.
    Thanks so much for listening!

    RESOURCE GLOBAL
Resource Global seeks to resource and release next generation leaders for Gospel restoration in their cities.
We seek out what God is preparing through young professionals in key cities around the world, and we appoint local teams to walk hand-in-hand with these young professionals to provide contextualized opportunities in training, networking and discipleship to pursue their work in a way that is faithful to Christ and effective for the good of their cities. We believe God is doing a new thing through believers in the workplace, and we believe that young, Christ-following professionals are playing a unique role in cultivating their cultures and economies for maximized Gospel impact.
