King David was getting old. His son, whom fled and hid from him was to be put into David's life again. A lot of manipulations went on, actually quite deceitfully to trick King David. Pastor Steve Price teaches in this story of a father and a son, how this thing of reconciliation was made to happen-between a father and his son.

How many sons today want this real relationship with their fathers. God can and does heal families today.

This whole chapter is the recorded history of what sin can do when not held in check by the Holy Spirit. The damage of lives and of families when the flesh is let-to reign unbridled. In this case there is incest-rape-then murder, all under the nose of a father and also a King- David.

Compromise in not doing what needs to be done as parents to our children has its terrible consequences-as in this case history of a family. A very sad story of tragedy upon tragedy.

Prayer. It still didn't go as requested by David. Pastor Steve Price, using this bit of scripture uses the example of David in living and walking the life of faith for the believer. David totally had repented, and was pleading with God to spare his child. "Then David arose from the earth,"…closure came to David's life. By faith he accepted God's plan for his life and his son's life. Trusting God in the hard times.

This is phase 2 of David's sin. It is here that David is confronted by God, through Nathan the Prophet. Nathan states it as it is. David confesses and repents. "Blessed is the man whose sins are forgiven." David could have remained in sin by not taking responsibility for his actions. Only God can forgive sin.

This true story makes for a good (rated R) movie today. It never was censored from the Holy Scripture. It reveals the depravity of one man, David. This story shows how deadly sin is in a life and its affects on others also. This is a dark story in the life of King David of Israel, a man after God's heart. Though David did repent later, and was forgiven, the consequences continued in his life and others.
