Winter is here, which means the end of the year is upon us, AND it means end of year review time! This is where you find out if you’ve met all your goals for the year, where managers get to pine for hours on performance evaluations, and when bean counters crunch the numbers to see what bonuses can be doled out. End-of-year reviews can sometimes be very uninformative, disappointing, or downright insulting. Today we share some of our experiences receiving and writing end-of-year reviews, plus some things you can do to alleviate the bad ones and capitalize on the good ones.

The holidays season is a time for family, quality time, and travel. It is also a time when Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) really takes hold of you. For us aviation specialists, this puts additional pressure on us because demands increase, but often personnel availability (along with resource availability) significantly decreases. What this translates to is longer turnaround/processing times between flights, less personnel to troubleshoot issues, and higher chances for mistakes. Today, we talk about some of the effects of the holiday season, the effects of SAD, and what are some things that you can do about it!

Trash talking is very common in the aviation industry. Provocation, otherwise known as “trash talk” or “shit talking”, is a form of verbal contests consisting of boastful remarks about oneself or insulting remarks about one’s opponent. When used properly, it can be a tool that promotes healthy competition between friends or rivals. Today, we explore how trash talking can be good to a point in aviation, how it's a bad thing, and how you can ensure it doesn't get out of hand.
