Park City was buzzing once again this year, as artists, journalists, and movie lovers once again returned to an in-person SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL. Taking a hybrid approach this year, many films were still available for streaming online. We report on the major winners, films we've seen like THEATRE CAMP, FANCY DANCE, LAST THINGS, ALL DIRT ROADS TASTE OF SALT, FAIR PLAY, and more! We also talk about the other SLAMDANCE films we've gotten around to in the last week. We promise that if you get past some weird vibes in the first section we mostly turn it around. Two years ago, the Twelve Guests of Mankmas helped us to explore every nook and cranny of David Fincher's brand new film Mank. But now, in 2022, Mank has acquired enough age as to be transformed. What will we find? Will Mank's rind have gotten funky? Will it have the good type of mold or the bad type of mold? How many guests will be on the Second Manktacular? (zero) Should Zach Galifianakis have played Mank? Does the cheese metaphor make it into the episode? Who will be the jury president for the competition of the 2023 Berlinale? All there is, is Mank. Tradition keeps us centered. We need things to return to year after year, cycle after cycle. It is our light in the darkness. But sometimes, the light in the darkness is a little too bright. In the past, when reading a book has been suggested as something the hosts of the show could do to provide fodder for an episode's destruction, there was yelling and gnashing of teeth. But now, with James Gray's Cannes premiere finally having its theatrical run and making its way to the VOD market, we are finally to break through the long resistance to the written word, and pair it some required reading.
