Cannes I Kick It

Its a plus sized episode this week and we are talking Cannes so far!  How are people reacting to the films? Do we regret our predictions? Which of us is which in the French Dispatch red carpet meme? All this and more all before we are joined by returning guest and Drift King Emma Stefansky for a discussion on the only movie that played at Cannes that we can actually see right now, F9!

We've got a week to cool our heels before reacting to full Cannes madness so we have decided to invite the foremost Steven Soderbergh expert, Greta Taylor (@elsoderbergho) to talk about a pair of new releases. Zola (directed by Janicza Bravo) and No Sudden Move (directed by Steven Soderbergh). We talk about Zola being an excellent work of adaptation, the most recent period of Soderbegh's facinating career and Succession cast members finding their sweet spot in film.

European Fest Favorite Christian Petzold’s new movie UNDINE is released today in US, so we got one of the biggest Petzold fans around, Jesse’s Best Friend Daniel Foster, to talk the new release as well as his two previous features PHOENIX and TRANSIT. We get into his controlled, clockwork style of filmmaking, the power of his endings, and the future career potential of Big Gunther.
