The African National Congress in Limpopo says the comments of former presidents, Thabo Mbeki, Jacob Zuma and Kgalema Motlanthe on the challenges faced by the ANC under the leadership of president Ramaphosa are unfortunate. The party was reacting to reports in the media that the former leaders have criticized the ANC and pointed out its current challenges. Nghamula Chauke spoke to ANC Limpopo Secretary Reuben Madadzhe.

The Commission for Gender Equality has raised concerns about DNA tests done on alleged perpetrators who have been positively identified but return negative. The commission says it has observed this trend mostly in Gauteng. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke on Capricorn Talk, Baloyi said this was one of the issues discussed at the Presidential Gender Based Violence summit which was held in Gauteng.

The leadership of the Congress of the People is at loggerheads with each other, the factions are led by the President of the party Mosioua Lekota while the other is led by the Deputy President of the party Willie Madisha. At some point COPE used to have 30 seats in the national assembly but now it is left with only 2 MPs. Nghamula Chauke spoke to the two groups, and this is what was said.

Residents under the Ba-Phalabora municipality are facing serious water woes and this has prompted the Democratic Alliance to intervene and write a letter to the municipal Manager Dr Lucas Pilusa to explain these constant water cuts. The DA’s councilor under the municipality Sybrandt de Beer says the party has previously requested the Mopani District Municipality as the water authority to urgently communicate reasons for these developments and has also requested the Ba-Phalaborwa Mayor to inform the public on the status of this water restriction issue, as well as when normal supply will resume. Dr Pilusa has confirmed that they are experiencing water cut challenges however he blames Lepelle Nothern Water for what he calls failure to communicate with stakeholders involved. South Africa needs to move from debating about its position on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and start developing policies to prepare for an economic fallout because of the conflict. This is according to Director at RiskRecon Dr Kingsley Makhubela, who spoke to Nghamula Chauke following an expert discussion this week, on the potential risks the country may face as a ripple effect of the Russia-Ukraine conflict as well as South Africa’s unpreparedness for the new order that might emerge because of the conflict.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has released a detailed report on the July riots and this after he appointed an expert panel to investigate the events that led to the looting that took place across the country last year in July. Nghamula Chauke spoke to Criminologist Professor Kholofelo Mabena-Rakubu to reflect on this report.

Columnist Enock Shishenge is calling on parents, black ones to embrace and preserve African languages especially when it comes to educational matters. Shishenge says he finds it awkward to hear parents demanding that their children be taught in English as opposed to vernacular.

The MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Dr Namane Dickson Masemola says his department is pleased with the progress made by contractors who are busy with the rural access road project that will link several district municipalities in Limpopo. Masemola was speaking to Nghamula Chauke reflecting on President Ramaphosa’s visit in the province as he came to inspect this project which is called the S’hamba Sonke programme. Masemola says this project has brought about huge economic activities in Limpopo.

The Limpopo 2021 matric class pass rate has raised questions about the state of the province's education and what needs to be done to improve. The province obtained a 66.7% pass rate which is a decline from 68.2% in 2020. Nghamula Chauke held a debate on the state of education and what can be done about it in the aftermath of the results. He spoke to SADTU's Mulalo Nevari, PEU's Klass Mohlatlole and educational expert and former curriculum advisor Dr Joe Tshifularo.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG)says it is important for parents and guardians to support and listen to young people who are waiting for their matric results. SADAG says as we get closer to the release of matric result by the department of basic education, communities should support matriculants as this time may be very stressful.
