"Run the race to win" is one of the most used and misused quotes in all of the Bible. It's an awesome scripture, out of 1 Corinthians, where the author Paul addresses our desire to win in life and gain our most desired prizes. But these verses challenge us to think, "What race am I running? Is it the right one? What prize am I chasing in life?" 

The reality is we often chase prizes in this life we were never meant to chase. Much of this world is built on getting us to adopt its version of success. The truth is, unless you define what success is in your life then someone else will do it for you. But Paul urges us that in the end you will want to make sure you were chasing the right prizes or much of this life will be lived in vain. This Sunday we talked about the prizes that God challenges us to chase in a message titled "Running the Right Race."

A church is like an embassy. It is located in foreign land but it does not belong to that land. It belongs not to the country it is in but to the country it is from. God has an embassy in this world and he sent Jesus here to build it. It's called "the church." The church is an embassy from eternity and is meant to be a taste of heaven in a foreign land. This Sunday we talked about how to make our church our altar in a message called "Church: An Altar of Offering."

There might be nothing worse than a half-hearted person. No one wants a half-hearted spouse, friend, boss, dentist... that would be painful. No one wants a half-hearted God, but thankfully our God went all in for us! In this series we will talk about how to end casual christianity, going all in on Jesus, my church family, my corner, with some commitment and baptism Sundays to wrap it up!

The reality is we live in a rich country. Most of us aren't waiting on God for food and safety each day like much of the early church and much of the world today. It begs the question, "What do I need from God daily?" This is a crucial question to get right because if we don't believe we need him then we won't go to him. This Sunday we talked about going all in on Jesus in 2024 in a message titled, "Do I Really Need Him?"

This is the time of year where we get the chance to reflect on the past and look towards the future. We've had a lot to celebrate, but we believe we are only getting started and have learned a lot of lessons along the way. One quick look at our world would tell you that peace is hard to find. War and conflict, and dissension and turmoil are all around us, which begs the question: is peace a reality for today, and if so where is it? This week we faced these questions head-on by learning what the real peace of Jesus is and how we can access it daily in a messaged titled, “The Path Toward Peace.”

Jesus of Nazareth is a name most of us know, but few of us know why we know it. As Nathaniel put it in John 1 after he heard the Messiah was from this nowhere town he said, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Nazareth was insignificant, overlooked and undervalued. But it was there that Mary found the favor of God and Jesus himself grew in favor. Favor was found in the insignificant, overlooked and undervalued place. This week we continued with Part 2 of our Christmas series, “Unwrapping the Names of Jesus.”

We kicked off this series by talking about “Jesus, The Light of the World.” The truth is that our world is filled with darkness. Five minutes spent watching the news would reveal that. Hopelessness, loneliness and depression are at all time highs. Now more than ever, we need the message of Christmas—the light that entered the world. This week we talked about what it looks like to live with that hope, and in doing so, invite others into it.

The holidays are a wonderful time of the year full of joy and celebration. But with this season often comes much stress, busyness, and anxiety. So how do we combat those feelings and experience all that God has for us this season? One word: gratitude. This week we looked at what it means to be truly grateful in hopes of experiencing the fruit of gratitude this holiday season in a message titled, “From The Inside Out.”
