Chris Pelikan and Brenden Schaeffer break down the INSANE matchup between the Cardinals and Mariners from Wednesday night. The Cardinals sent Michael McGreevy to the mound to try and avoid the sweep, and the rookie pitched well. But it was another night that saw little offensive production from St. Louis in this series. As the game moved to extras, the intensity ramped up even more.
Riley O'Brien showed some moxie in a 10th-inning high-wire act to extend the game deeper into the night.
Eventually, Thomas Saggese came through with the RBI swing to put the Cardinals ahead in the top of the 11th. But could the Redbirds couldn't hold that lead and ROB gave up the tying hit to begin the bottom of the 11th.
After another escape by ROB extended the game to the 12th, the Cardinal offense went down in order. That gave way to Ryan Fernandez, who pitched a clean 12th to carry the madness forward.
