  • July 30, 2023: "Right Here and Right Now" with Anne Hansen

Preaching for the Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Anne Hansen offers a reflection on living the will of God "on earth as it is in heaven":

" I hope it is a place where gang members and socialites converse. A place where women preach and are involved in all seven sacraments, a place where the LGBTQ community is part of the fabric and a place where immigrants from everywhere feel at home. Maybe heaven is a gathering of the communion of saints around a very long table."
Anne Hansen is currently the Executive Director of Ignatians West in Los Angeles. Anne writes reflections on the Sunday readings for the Ignatians West newsletter and is working on a book with her sister, an Episcopal priest, on their shared experience with faith, ministry and family. Anne has a BA in Psychology from Immaculate Heart College, an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from California State University, Northridge and an MA in Pastoral Theology from Loyola Marymount University.

  • July 22, 2023: We Must Let Go and We Must Announce with Antoinette Gutzler, MM

Preaching for the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Antoinette Gutzler, MM offers a reflection on peering into our tombs and letting go of old ways that do not bring life:

"So we must 'let go' and we must announce. On this great Feast, we follow Mary of Magdala into the Garden as she meets Jesus and has her whole life and way of understanding life in Jesus turned around. There was a “crack” in her experience when she heard her name . . . and the light came in. We are called to find the cracks in our experience and in the realities of our world and church. We are called to make them visible so that grief and anxiety can be transformed into light and goodness – if we only listen."
Antoinette Gutzler, a Maryknoll Sister from Queens, New York, holds a doctorate in systematic theology from Fordham University. She has served in mission both in Tanzania, East Africa where she worked in religious education and young students work, and in Taiwan, where she directed a center for factory workers.

Sr Erin is a member of the Congregation of Sisters of St Joseph, living in Detroit, MI. Sr Erin currently serves as the University Minister for Service and Social Justice at the University of Detroit Mercy and she is the co-host of the new podcast, Beyond the Habit, with Sr Colleen Gibson, SSJ. • July 9, 2023: Our Divine Parent Creator with Shannon K. Evans

Preaching for the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Shannon K. Evans offers a reflection on receiving the loving kindness of God through others:

"Because if it is true of you that you are the hands and feet of God, then it is also true of those who touch and serve you. It is also true that when they hug you, when they cook for you, when they mail you a card, when they pick you up a coffee unasked – when they lean over in their Spiderman pajamas and kiss your cheek, that it is God’s tenderness doing so to you. Helping you believe all over again. Offering the rest promised to you. Reminding you that the burden is light."

Evans is the spirituality and culture editor at the National Catholic Reporter and author of the books "Feminist Prayers for My Daughter: Powerful Petitions for Every Stage of Her Life" and "Rewilding Motherhood: Your Path to an Empowered Feminine Spirituality." • June 25, 2023: The intimate, hair-counting love of God with Cameron Bellm

Preaching for the Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cameron Bellm offers a reflection on the "intimate, hair-counting love of God":

"My children are growing now, no longer newborns with golden threads of hair. They go to school each day while I wrestle with how to entrust them to a dangerous world, how to manage my own heartbreak when their little hearts are broken. I don’t have any easy answers for how to do that. But I do know that we are deeply, fiercely, tenderly loved, all of us, not just my family but the entire human family, by the God who is light and who calls us to be light ourselves—to the world, yes, but also to each other. "
Cameron Bellm is a Seattle-based writer, retreat leader, and contemplative in action. She is the author of “Prayer for a Pandemic,” which went viral in the early days of COVID-19. • June 18, 2023: "Credibility Through Compassion" with Sr. Cathy Murray, OP

Preaching for the Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, Sr. Cathy Murray, OP, reflects on exercising Christ-like authority through compassion:

"Jesus grants the apostles authority and credibility to engage in his mission - authority that does not come from domination, from command and control, but from compassion. Compassion is the power driving Jesus into action; Compassion shapes his plan. Compassion is the ability to see others in their giftedness and to share that ability to see others in their giftedness.Jesus has that incredible gift of looking at one another with hope. Seeing giftedness and seeing potential can waken spirits, can be huge news to the other – to the one seen, but also to the one seeing."
Sr. Cathy Murray, M.Div./LCSW has had two ministries throughout her religious life weaving together social action and preaching. She ministered for fifteen years in parishes in Northern California as a pastoral associate where she preached regularly and led adult education programs as well as retreats. She has also ministered as a social work supervisor for Sonoma County Adult Protective Services. Today, she serves on the leadership team for her community, the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael. Sr. Cathy has been a faithful member of a Twelve Step Program since she was a young adult.

  • June 4, 2023: Remade in God's Image with Sr. Laurie Brink, OP

Preaching on the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, Laurie Brink, O.P., offers a reflection on allowing God to remake us in God's image:

"Instead of trying to make God in our image, perhaps we could take a cue from the Trinity, and allow love, grace, and fellowship to remake us in God’s image. Let’s start by hearing voices—the voices of people in need, the hurting, the forgotten, and the quaking and crying Earth. Then at the invitation and inspiration of the Trinity, let’s join the dance!"
