The Senate, now controlled by Democrats, confirmed the first of President Biden's cabinet nominees last night. Avril Haines will be the new Director of National Intelligence, the first woman ever appointed to that post. Yesterday, U.S. officials reported another 4,200 coronavirus deaths. Efforts to slow the spread are starting to hit a wall, with some states running out of vaccine doses.
