The anger over a grand jury's decision in the Breonna Taylor case has left two Louisville police officers in the hospital. They were shot last night during protests, after two officers involved in Taylor's death were not charged. The shootings marred what had been a largely peaceful demonstration of outrage, in a city where a state of emergency was declared in advance. We asked Kenneth Walker's attorney Steven Romines about the grand jury's conclusion that the officers' actions were justified, because Walker fired the first shot. President Trump is firing up the threat of a constitutional crisis after the November election, refusing to promise that he'll leave office peacefully if he is defeated. The CDC says 90% of Americans may still be vulnerable to the coronavirus. Thousands stood in line yesterday to pay their respects to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, against a backdrop of rapid activity over Ginsburg's replacement.

Democrats are using every tool they have to slow down a Republican march to confirm President Trump's future nominee. This morning's ceremony for Justice Ginsburg began a three-day formal farewell in Washington. The House of Representatives held a moment of silence yesterday to acknowledge a painful milestone, that more than 200,000 people in the U.S. have died from coronavirus. At a campaign rally in Pittsburgh last night, President Trump defended his response to the pandemic, and mocked the precaution used by tens of millions of Americans, including his Democratic opponent. Tropical Storm Beta could slam Louisiana and Mississippi with severe floods later today, after the storm dumped 14 inches of rain in Houston. Kentucky's attorney general could announce as soon as today whether a grand jury called for criminal charges in the Breonna Taylor case. This morning, buildings in downtown Louisville are boarded up in case of protests, and the city has declared a state of emergency.

U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has been temporarily blocked by a federal judge -- from making operational changes at the post office that could delay the delivery of ballots. The U.S. governement is banning new TikTok downloads starting on Sunday, and banning another Chinese-owned app, WeChat. Airline executives are in Washington, pleading with the White House and Congress to extend coronavirus relief.
