Kyrie Irving reportedly threatened to sit out the season and have surgery on his knee.
Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon reports that Irving needs minor surgery on his knee as a follow up to the surgery he underwent after suffering a broken knee cap in the 2015 NBA Finals. It’s not major, but the procedure would ease some of the swelling and day-to-day pain he feels.
Plus, Irving to pair with -- you guessed it -- LeBron James, as the NBA All-Star teams were picked today.
And Marcus Smart has had a difficult past few days. Smart spent Wednesday afternoon in a Los Angeles hospital getting his hand stitched up after mysteriously cutting it at the team hotel.
After losing four straight games, the Celtics got back on the winning track against the Los Angeles Clippers. Celtics defense held the Clippers in check despite the absence of Al Horford and Marcus Smart. All-Star drama appears to be at a new high between Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard. Players and refs will discuss their differences during the All-Star break and Tyronn Lue says changes are coming to Cavaliers lineup.
It was a busy night for the Boston Celtics, as just before tip-off against the Los Angeles Clippers it was reported that Marcus Smart cut his hand and couldn't play and Al Horford was being held out as a precaution after a head hit the night before. On top of that, youngsters Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum will team up All-Star Weekend as members of Team America in the Rising Stars Challenge. Finally, the Celtics did finally snap a four-game losing streak with a win over the Clippers at Staples Center.
