The Celtics as the #1 seed entered the playoffs to face the 8th seeded Chicago Bulls and their stars Jimmy Butler and Dwayne Wade. Many felt the Celtics were likely to suffer an upset in this series and after losing games 1 and 2 it was looking like the people who were putting the Celtics down were right. The Celtics though would come storming back and win 4 straight 3 of which took place in Chicago to win their first playoff series under Brad Stevens and advance to the 2nd round where they will now face John Wall, Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards. The Celtics in the regular season went 2-2 vs the Wizards with both teams winning both their games at home but losing both games on the road. April 27, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 167 Where do we stand after game 5The Celtics and Bulls played game 5 last night in the TD Garden in Boston, MA in front of the Celtics faithful. The Celtics lost games 1 and 2 in this same building last week which at the time gave the Chicago Bulls a 2-0 series lead going back to Chicago for games 3 and 4. After game 2 Isaiah Thomas left the Celtics to go be with his family as they dealt with the death of Isaiah's sister. Meanwhile the Bulls lost Rajon Rondo in game 2 to a broken thumb. It was announced before game 3 that Rajon Rondo would miss the game and be out for atleast a week. Isaiah Thomas returned and helped the Celtics win game 3 in Chicago 104-87. 2 nights later the Celtics won game 4 104-95 to tie the series 2-2 coming back to Boston for game 5. Last night in game 5 the Bulls were again without Rajon Rondo and had Isaiah Canaan start in place of Rondo. Unlike games 3 and 4 where the Celtics blew it open early the Bulls managed to keep this game close as Isaiah Thomas, Al Horford and Jae Crowder would all have trouble scoring through 3 quarters and the teams were in a 2 point game going into the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter Isaiah Thomas and the other Celtics starters picked it up and the Celtics went from being down 2 to winning the game by 11 via the final score 108-97. We will be joined by the Host of the @TechLifePod podcast Rich Conte as we recap what happened in game 5 and look to Fridays game 6 in Chicago...more2h 6minPlay

April 13, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 165 The end of the 2016/17 Regular SeasonThe end of the NBA regular season is over and its time for the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics despite being the most injured team in the Eastern Conference and 2nd most injured team throughout the entire season behind only the Los Angeles Clippers are going to the playoffs as the top team in the Eastern Conference. on our last show the Celtics had fallen out of 1st place in the East after losing their final showdown with Lebron and the Cavs giving the Cavs a 1 game lead over the Celtics for 1st. Then the Celtics went on to lose the very next night to the Atlanta Hawks to make it a 1.5 game lead for the Cavs. Since that point the Celtics went on a 3-0 winning streak knocking off the Hornets, Nets and Bucks while the Cavs would lose 4 in a row after beating the Celtics. This resulted in the Celtics finished the season 53-29 while Lebron and the Cavs finished 51-31. The Celtics as the #1 seed will now play the #8 seed Chicago Bulls while the Cavs will face the #7 seeded Pacers. The Raptors finished in the #3 spot and they will play the #6 seed Milwaukee Bucks. April 07, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 164 Celtics VS Cavs Regular Season Matchup Round 4Celtics and Cavs. A possible Eastern Conference Finals matchup. Wednesday night NBA fans were given the 4th and final preview of this possible playoff matchup as the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers the top 2 teams in the Eastern Conference met at TD Garden in Boston. This game was arguably the biggest game of the season for the Celtics as they are locked in a tight battle in the standings with Lebron James and the Cavs for home court throughtout the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Celtics went into this game with the Cavs trailing the Cavs 2 games to 1 in the head to head season series meaning a Cavs win would clinch the tiebreaker for the Cavs while a Celtics win would tie the head to head tiebreaker and make it where the Conference Record would become the next tiebreaker. The Celtics though had more to play for other then the home court. The Celtics also had a chance to prove themselves as the top threat to prevent Lebron and the Cavs from getting back to the NBA Finals. Even with the Celtics possibly having a chance to have home court in the playoffs no one is giving them a shot to even put up a fight against Lebron and the Cavs. Most NBA analysts prefer to say the Wizards or the Raptors are the ones with a better chance but a Celtics win in this game would give the Celtics more wins vs the Cavs then either one of those teams has vs the Cavs this season. So did the Celtics get the job done or did Lebron and company come and do what they said which is squash the Celtics. Bobby Krivitsky Studio host/producer for @IMGAudio and Co-host of @PatriotsBeat joins us....more2h 4minPlay
March 30, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 163 Looking at the Final Stretch of the NBA SeasonWith the loss against the Bucks last night the Celtics lost 1st place in the Eastern Conference. They now sit in a tie with the Cavs for best record in the Eastern Conference but due to the Cavs having a better winning percentage via playing 2 games less then the Celtics to this point in the season the Cavs are currently the 1 seed while the Celtics are the 2 seed. The Celtics now have 7 games left in the Regular Season and still have several things that need to be figured out from will Brad Stevens have a set playoff rotation or will he continue to alternate like hes been doing the last few weeks. Meanwhile the Wizards and the Raptors who sit in the 3rd and 4th seeds respectively are also still fighting for positioning with the Celtics and Cavs. Now with the season coming to an end teams decide to tank on some games in order to force other teams to get forced into tougher matchups and tougher paths to the NBA title. So now that we are at that point the Celtics have only 7 games left 4 at home vs the Magic, Cavs, Nets and Bucks then 3 on the road against the Hawks, Hornets and Knicks. What should the Celtics look to do in the final 7 games to prepare for the playoffs. How about the bottom of the league with the Brooklyn Nets who owe the Celtics their draft pick this summer whats the latest on their position and how close are they to clinching the best odds for the #1 pick in this summers NBA Draft. We will discuss that all with guest Nick Gelso...more2h 6minPlay
March 23, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 162 The Celtics clinch a playoff spotIts official. The Celtics are going to the NBA Playoffs and its now all about which seed they will take and who they will have to faceoff with come playoff time. The Celtics are in the middle of a battle right now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors for who will finish in what spot as the top 4 seeds. As of right now the Celtics sit as the #2 seed just 1 game behind Lebron James and the defending Champion Cleveland Cavaliers for Home Court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Celtics have a 2.5 game lead on the #3 seeded Washington Wizards in a battle for home court advantage in their possible round 2 matchup in a series that home court will be major as both teams in the regular season failed to win on the other teams court. The Celtics have a 3.5 game lead over the #4 seeded Raptors. As of right now only the Cavaliers and the Celtics have punched their tickets to the Playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Odds are the Washington Wizards, Toronto Raptors, Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers will soon join them leaving only 2 spots to be determined with 4 teams in the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Miamia Heat, and Chicago Bulls all in close proximity of each other fighting for those final spots. In the Celtics last 3 games we have seen the team lose to the Philadelphia 76ers in a game that saw the team play without Isaiah Thomas but then seen the team come back the next night with Isaiah Thomas to beat the Washington Wizards at the TD Garden then the Celtics knocked off the Indiana Pacers in a possible round 1 playoff series preview. We will take a further look at where the team stands in terms of the races for home court and also look at which of the teams listed above would be best for the Celtics to face in round 1 based on their regular season records vs those teams. We will be joined by Washington Wizards fan and Faceoff with Facemire host Brenda Facemire for this show...more1h 39minPlay
