The NBA Playoffs are less then a month away. The Celtics are fighting for with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors to see who will finish in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics since our last show ended up going at it with the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves and Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics went 3-0 against those teams and managed to get a 1.5 game lead over the Washington Wizards for the 2nd seed in the Eastern Coneference while remaining just 2 games back of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics along with the Cavs, Wizards and Raptors are all bracing for a big week upcoming. As each of these teams due to their schedules are gonna be playing games that could drastically impact the shaping of the playoff seeding. The Celtics had to play the Nets game without their best player in Isaiah Thomas and survived 98-95 and now will have to prepare to play the 76ers without him. With Mondays game against the Wizards on fast approach and knowing the playoff picture and that a Wizards win Monday would mean both the Wizards and the Raptors will now own the tiebreaker over the Celtics we will dicuss the importance of that game. The Celtics just finished off a 5 game Western Conference road trip their last of the regular season. They made stops to face the Lakers, Suns, Clippers, Warriors and Nuggets during the trip. The Celtics entered this road trip coming off a big win over Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics would end up starting off the road trip in LA to take on the Lakers in a game that saw the Celtics make the Lakers look like a joke as the Celtics went up by over 20 points in this game and turned it into an impression of the Harlem Globetrotters as the Celtics went making alley oops and a bunch of fancy passes in route to a 115-95 win. However Al Horford would be injured in this game and would be lost for the next 2 games as the Celtics then took on the Phoenix Suns with both Horford and Avery Bradley. The Celtics were given everything they could handle and more and had a chance to win the game in the end but a mental mistake and miscommunication between the players and head coach Brad Stevens would cost them as the Celtics would lose the game on a buzzard beating 3 due to turning the ball over on an inbounds pass when they were tied and could have settled for overtime. The Celtics then returned to LA to take on Chris Paul and the Clippers. Avery Bradley would return but Al Horford would miss the game and this game was a close game until the 2nd half when Jamal Crawford finally switched his power switch from off to on and took over the game. The Celtics would head into Oracle Arena to face the reigning Western Conference Champion Golden State Warriors who were without Kevin Durant. The game seemed to take a similar storyline to last years meeting in Oracle and had the same result as the Celtics were victorious. The Celtics unfortunately would follow that win up with a stinker in Denver against the Nuggets. Its the beginning of march and we are now just 6 weeks away from the NBA Playoffs and there is still so much left to be decided in terms of the Eastern Conference Playoff Races. The Celtics opted not to make any trades before last Thursdays NBA Trade Deadline and will move on the rest of the season with the core they have had all season intact. The Celtics are in the middle of a tight race in terms of the home court advantages in the Eastern Conference as they along with the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors are all duking it out to see who will finish with home court advantage throughout the playoffs. The Celtics came out of the All-Star break just 3 games behind the Cavaliers for the best record overall in the Eastern Conference and had a chance to gain some ground as last night they took on the Cavaliers in a game that saw the Cavs have to play without Kevin Love who was lost prior to the all-star break with an injury that would require him to miss 6 weeks of action. So did the Celtics manage to take advantage and gain some ground on King James and the Cavs. What about the Raptors and the Wizards who are behind the Celtics in the 3rd and 4th seed whats the latests on them? Did the Celtics add any players to the roster via free agency as several players who were traded last Thursday were being relreased from their teams like Andrew Bogut, Jared Sullinger and Deron Williams. Earlier this afternoon the NBA Trade Deadline officially expired. So now Celtics Fan's will know what their team will be for the rest of the 2016/2017 season and in the Playoffs as the Celtics try to make it past round 1 this season. The Celtics were linked to several rumors over the last few weeks involving several big name players. From trades that would have the Celtics getting superstar players to trades that would see the Celtics get involved as a 3rd team to help a trade go through and allow them to pick up some of the pieces they needed to add. The Celtics coming into this trade deadline needed help in the rebounding department so they needed a big man and that was something the teams players and coaches admitted. Did Danny Ainge manage to get that done? Did the Celtics add a big name player to help them draw closer to the Cavaliers and Raptors in terms of star power and make themselves more of a major threat to knock off the Raptors and Cavs this season and prove they could be the team in the East to prevent a Cavaliers/Warriors NBA Finals 3 from happening. The Celtics despite having many injury problems to some of their top players during the first half of the season have been right in the thick of the things in the Eastern Conference Playoff race all season. The Celtics and their fans now at the All-Star break have a lot to prepare for as the next week comes. On top of the All-Star break events that will take place this weekend. The Celtics and their fans also have the NBA Trade Deadline just a few days away. The Celtics have been mixed in a ton of trade rumors for several big name players over the last few weeks from Carmelo Anthony to Jimmy Butler to Nikola Vucevic. Its usually at the All-Star break that things heat up as the NBA GM's all come to the same location for the All-Star break events and take the chance to speak with each other and see if any moves can be made. The Celtics since our last show have started to test their abilities against more of the Western Conference's playoff caliber teams. The Celtics welcomed the Lakers and the Clippers both to Boston before packing their bags for a 9 day 4 game Western Conference road trip which would see them faceoff with the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trailblazers, Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz. This episode takes place with the 1st of that 4 game road trip having been completed. So how have the Celtics done thus far vs their Western Conference opponents. Did they manage to take down the LA Lakers, LA Clippers and Sacramento Kings to keep their winnning streak alive or did they have their streak snapped. We are now at the end of January. The month of February is coming in and it is a big month with the NBA All-Star break and the NBA Trade Deadline both taking place. The Celtics and their players could be involved in both of those events as the Celtics have been involved in trade rumors for weeks and we have discussed several of those here on the air and on the Celtics Talk Radio video channel. Meanwhile Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley and Al Horford have been getting support for them to make the Eastern Conference All-Star team. Since Daniel and Igors live video chat which took place on 1/25 and can be seen the Celtics Talk Radio youtube channel. The Celtics have played 3 more games going 3-0 as they defeated the Orlando Magic via a blowout 128-98 on 1/27. The next night they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in overtime 112-108 both those wins coming without Avery Bradley and Al Horford. Then 2 nights later the Celtics got Al Horford back as the Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons 113-109. The Celtics have now won 4 in a row as we go into this show and sit at the top of the mountain in the Atlantic Division 1.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Toronto Raptors for the division crown. The Celtics also have gained ground on Lebron James and comapny or the best record in the Eastern Conference as they now sit just 2.5 games back of them. So on todays show with our guest Brenda Facemire from Faceoff with Facemire we will discuss the current status of the Eastern Conference as well as the rosters for the NBA All-Star game and the latest trade rumors

Many feel the All-Star break is the official halfway point of the NBA Season others feel its when you have played half of the 82 game schedule that you are at the halfway point. Well if you are someone who feels that the halfway point of the NBA season is when your team has played half of its game then the Boston Celtics are now more then halfway done with the 2016/2017 Regular Season. Having now played 42 out of their 82 games and right in the thick of things in the Eastern Conference playoff race and more importantly for home court advantage in atleast 1 playoff matchup. Since our last show the Celtics played 3 games playing first in Atlanta against the Hawks in a game which they won 103-101. Then 3 nights later the Celtics were back in Boston in a game that saw the return of Avery Bradley who had missed the Celtics previous 4 games. The Celtics with Avery Bradley back on the court took on and defeated the Charlotte Hornets 108-98. 48 hours later however the Celtics would lose to Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks in a game that saw them have to play without Avery Bradley for the 5th time in 6 games. The Celtics lost 117-106 in a game that also saw Al Horford have a terrible night shooting wise and the Knicks snapped the Celtics home winning streak. So since the last show the Celtics went 2-1 and now sit at 26-16 on the season after 42 games. The Celtics are 4 wins better this season then what they were at this exact same point last season and thats with all the injuries they have had to endure. The Celtics sit in the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference just a few games behind the Raptors for the 2nd seed. So whats the outlook for the team and what changes do we feel need to be made with the Trade Deadline just about a month away. Its officially 2017. Since our last show which took place on New Years day the Celtics played 5 games 4 of which took place on the TD Garden floor as the Celtics hosted the Jazz, 76ers, Pelicans and Wizards. The only road game the Celtics had since our last show was against the Atlantic division leading Toronto Raptors. Daniel and Igor on the last show mentioned the youtube video chats they have started doing after some of the big games and they did one after the Pelicans game to discuss the Jazz, 76ers and Pelicans games so that on tonights show more emphasis can be put on the Raptors and Wizards games knowing that games vs the Raptors are huge this season. But overall in the last 5 games the Celtics went 4-1 winning all 4 games on the TD Garden floor but losing the game in Toronto to the Raptors in a game that saw the Celtics have to play without Avery Bradley. The Celtics in that game had a chance to move into a tie for the lead in the Atlantic Division and 2nd overall in the Eastern Conference but blew a 2nd half double digit lead. They then came back the next night having to play without 5 players which included Avery Bradley and Amir Johnson to take on the Washington Wizards and thanks to a big 4th quarter by Isaiah Thomas the Celtics knocked off the Wizards 117-108 to move to 24-15 on the season.
