August 25, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 175 The Celtics get Kyrie Irving the Schedule is outIt had been rumored for some time throughout this summer but earlier this week it finally happened. Danny Ainge pulled the trigger and sent Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Nets 2018 1st round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Kyrie Irving. Kyrie Irving waived the trade kicker he had in his contract which would have resulted in him getting another 3 million dollars added to his salary in order to help the deal go through. Fans in Boston however are torn on the deal. Most are disappointed to see Thomas leave as Isaiah Thomas proved to be the heart and soul of this team last season that made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to Irving, Lebron and the Cavs. We will discuss our feelings and look at what this means for the Celtics in terms of the money on the books. Meanwhile the NBA has finally released the schedules for the 2017/18 season. The Boston Celtics have been chosen to open up the regular season on October 17th as part of a TNT Double Header that will see in game 1 the Celtics travel to Cleveland to take on Lebron James alongside Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and the defending Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers at 8pm Eastern Time. That game will be followed by the Warriors hosting the Rockets. The Celtics also made the Christmas Day schedule as they will faceoff with John Wall and the Washington Wizards at the TD Garden in Boston at 5:30pm ET on ABC. The Celtics Talk Crew will announce the full 82 game schedule and give their thoughts on the NBA's decision to push the season up 2 weeks in order to make the schedules for the teams more easier by going down on the number of back to backs the teams will have to deal with. July 15, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 173 Update of the Celtics roster and Las Vegas SummerCeltics GM Danny Ainge since the start of Free Agency at the beginning of the month has been a man on a mission. Now 2 weeks into the Free Agency period Danny Ainge and the Celtics and their fans have seen the team go over a major change from the team that finished with the Eastern Conference's best record last season and ended up making it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals before falling to Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics have seen Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk, Jonas Jerebko and Avery Bradley all have their names removed from the roster board but have since seen them replaced with All-Star Forward Gordon Hayward, Marcus Morris, Aron Baynes, Jayson Tatum and Ante Zizic. Ainge has been able to aquire these players while still managing to keep his top 2 trade assets in the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers 2018 1st Round Draft Picks. For some Celtics Fans the moves Ainge has made are dissapointing in particular the trade of Avery Bradley for others the understanding of Ainge moving Bradley in order to sign Hayward has helped them accept the deal and move on. Meawhile the NBA Summer League has gone on while all this has been happening and Celtics 1st round pick Jason Tatum has been making a major statement as he has been putting up some pretty impressive performances making Danny Ainge look even more smart for Ainge being willing to trade the #1 pick to go down to the #3 pick to take Tatum in order to pay him less money by him being the #3 pick rather then him being the #1 pick which only helped Ainge in getting the money needed to win the Gordon Hayward sweepstakes but also got Ainge the 2018 Lakers pick which is now the Celtics 2nd best trade asset. We will discuss all of this with out special guest Chris Langseth as well as give you the latest on the biggest move of them all the signing of Gordon Hayward...more2h 59minPlay

The Indiana Pacers decided to send Paul George out to the Western Conference making the trade for him impossible but the Celtics managed to come through on the 2nd part of the plan which was signing arguably the top name on the free agency marker Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward. Now Danny Ainge has to make atleast 1 trade before the deal for Hayward can become official so the Celtics Talk Crew will discuss the big news and what we think Ainge should do. Has he sent someone away already to make the cap space needed to get Hayward? Is there anyone else the Celtics are now linked to since they now have Isaiah Thomas, Al Horford and Gordon Hayward in what has become a weak Eastern Conference? July 01, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Special Episode 69 Let the NBA Free Agency Games BeginIts July 1st which means its time for the NBA Free Agency Games to begin. The Boston Celtics are primed for some upgrades to the roster as they have the option to sign a max free agent or split up that max contract and sign some decent players who can help the team in much needed areas. For the past few weeks the Celtics have been involved in rumors to land Utah Jazz SF Gordon Hayward in the free agency frenzy. The Celtics have also been listed as one of several teams to land Indiana Pacers SF Paul George who has been put on the trade market due to him informing the Pacers he will not return to the team after his contract expires after the 2017/18 season. The Celtics were forced into a position where in order to get both Hayward and Paul George to the team the Celtics would need to sign Gordon Hayward first then trade for Paul George meaning the Pacers would need to wait to get the Celtics to deal with them and know that there was a chance the Celtics could back out if Hayward chose to go elsewhere. The Pacers opted to send Paul George to OKC and took back a package featuring 2 players only a package that was way lower then what the Celtics reportedly offered. So since players were allowed to agree to new contracts starting 19 hours ago whats the latest. Whats being reported in regards to Gordon Hayward and the teams trying to get him. Now that Paul George is gone what should be Danny Ainges next plan seeing that the 2 names he has tried to trade for in George and Jimmy Butler have now both been sent to the Western Conference. Will Ainge leave the Celtics fans without the fireworks once again like he did last summer or will he pull through or will he say I am gonna postpone the firework show for another year. The Celtics Talk Crew will debate alongside Bobby Krivitsky...more2h 36minPlay
June 22, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Special Episode 68 The 2017 NBA DraftThe night of the NBA Draft is here. The Boston Celtics were supposed to go into tonights event with the top pick overall in their back pocket. Danny Ainge and company however opted to trade the #1 pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the 3rd overall pick and a future 1st round pick. The trade was finalized this past Monday and since then its been all about what Danny Ainge has planned next. There has been rumors of trades linking the Celtics giving up the #3 pick to get Jimmy Butler or Kristaps Porzingis. The Celtics finished this past season as 1 of the final 4 teams in the league as they lost to Lebron and company in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics now have the option to either bring in some superstars via free agency and trades to try and knock Lebron and the Cavs off the top of the Eastern Conference Mountain or look towards the future with this #3 pick and play the waiting game and wait for the Lebron and the Cavs to slow down to finally then take advantage and look to be the team that takes over at that time but who knows how many years that means the Celtics fans will need to wait. The NBA is also just over a week away from Free Agency beginning and the Celtics are gonna be major players as they will have the chance to sign a max free agent. May 27, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 171 Celtics vs Cavs Conference Finals Series RecapThe Boston Celtics season came to an end this past Thursday night. In game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals the Celtics lost to Lebron James and defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers which sets up the Golden State Warriors vs the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals for the 3rd straight year. The Celtics were in a position that no one thought they would be the final 4 teams of the NBA. The Celtics went into the series with home court advantage meaning games 1,2,5,7 would be in Boston while games 3,4,6 would be in Cleveland. The Celtics lost Isaiah Thomas their best player and leader scorer in game 2 of the series and would go to Cleveland down 0-2 in the series which had everyone saying it would be a sweep. The rest of the Celtics team however shocked the NBA world by pulling off a major upset in game 3 to avoid that 4 game sweep by winning game 3 on the buzzard beating 3 by Avery Bradley. The Celtics however did not get much credit from the national media due to the fact that Lebron James had one of his worst playoffs games ever in that game so the media once again made it more about the Cavs and Lebron then the Celtics. The Celtics would then go on to lose game 4 as they were forced to play without Amir Johnson who sufferend an injury in game 3. Then game 5 back in Boston the Celtics would have to play for their lives without Isaiah Thomas and with a less then 100% Amir Johnson and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics would proceed to get beat on their home turf for the 3rd time resulting in their eliminationg meaning the Celtics failed to win a single game against Lebron in the postseason against Lebron and company. Now we will recap did the Celtics seem like they were lightyears behind Lebron and company?. Did the Celtics by being one of the final 4 teams and managing to win one game against Lebron do enough to say next year they can be expected to be a top team in the East. We will discuss as Chris Langseth will join us for the 2nd to last show of the season...more2h 15minPlay
May 20, 2017Celtics Talk Radio Episode 170 Celtics Cavs Eastern Conference Finals GM 2 RecapThe Celtics and Cavs have played games 1 and 2 of their best 4 out of 7 Eastern Conference Finals playoff series. The Cavs have dominated the Celtics in those 2 games and now lead the Eastern Conference Finals 2 games to 0. Both games saw the Cavs literally go up by over 30 points and end the game pretty much before the 4th quarter even arrived. Pretty much both games were a beatdown dealt by the Cavs. The Celtics fans now wait for what may be the most likely result which is for games 3 and 4 just to end and the series to end in a series sweep for Lebron and the Cavs. The Celtics on top of being at a major disadvantage in the series talent wise have also been at the disadvantage with the officiating as well. This led to frustrations for the Celtics taking place in game 2 where Isaiah Thomas and Brad Stevens were both T'd up for complaining about the fouls situation as Thomas was not getting any calls in his favor and it ultimately led to him suffering an injury in the 2nd quarter of game 2 and he was not able to return for the remainder of the game. Now the series shifts to Cleveland for games 3 and 4. We will be joined by Bobby Krivitsky of the PatriotsBeat as we discuss what happened and how should Celtics Fans feel. Many feel that the Celtics accomplishment of winning 2 rounds should be thrown out due to the way things have gone vs the Cavs. Others feel since no one was gonna beat the Cavs come playoff time the fact the Celtics were the final team standing in front of them in round 3 when many felt the Celtics wouldnt even be able to get past round 1 makes it a successful season. So who does Bobby side with in that debate...more2h 14minPlay
