March 17, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 195 To Rest or not to Rest That Is the QuestionJust when it looked like things were going right for the Celtics. After being dealt a serious blow in the season opener due to Gordon Haywards injury that the team continues to say will keep him out the rest of the season. After Marcus Smart punched a picture frame in the teams hotel room and cost himself 1 month of action prior to the All-Star Break it finally looked like the team was headed in the right direction coming out of the All-Star Break winners or 6 of their first 7 games with the only loss coming in Houston against the NBA league standings leader Houston Rockets. The Celtics got another visit from their old buddy aka the injury bug. On our last show we announced the injury to Jaylen Brown as Jaylen Brown lost his grip on a dunk and fell down to the floor on his neck and back in the game against the Timberwolves in Minnesota and was put into the NBA's Concussion protocol with no timetable for his return as its an NBA doctor not the Celtics doctors who will need to clear him to return. The team would return to Boston with 2 days to prepare for the Indiana Pacers knowing Jaylen Brown would not be available and the injury bug struck again but this time it took out 3 players as Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart and Daniel Theis were all injured. Since then we have now heard Daniel Theis is done for the season. There are conflicting reports on what the severity of Marcus Smarts injury is and if it is season ending. Meanwhile Kyrie Irvings issue does not appear to be serious according to the Celtics. So with the Celtics still having a chance to catch the Raptors for 1st but also banged up the team must choose resting its players and risk not only the 1st seed but the #2 seed also or fight for the seeding but not get healthy for the playoffs. We will discuss with our guest Rich Jensen @RichAJensen what should the teams gameplan be over the next 4 weeks. Also an update on the current playoff picture...more3h 56minPlay
March 10, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 194 Celtics vs Rockets in possible NBA Finals PreviewRockets vs Warriors in the Western Conference Finals is the series that will determine the NBA Champion no one in the East has a chance thats what the insiders keep saying. Well that may be how the insiders think and they may be right but the Celtics got their last chance to prove whether or not they got what it takes to put up a decent fight against one of those 2 Western Conference Powerhouses when they were in Houston to take on the Rockets. The Celtics already 1-1 vs the Warriors this season winning in Boston before losing in Golden State by only 4 points went into Houston 1-0 vs the Rockets beating the Rockets in a game in Boston which featured both teams missing key players. The Celtics would have to go into Houston still wiithout Gordon Hayward facing off with a 100% healthy Rockets squad that was on a 15 game win streak. The Celtics led for most of the game before ultimately falling apart late and losing the game by 3 points to the Rockets. The game was a big win for the Rockets however the performance from the Celtics knowing what has been said about the team as of late and how they arent elite may have proven something to all those trash talkers out there. The Celtics also after facing a weak Chicago Bulls team in full tank mode traveled to Minnesota to take on the playoff contending Timberwolves just 24 hours ago. The Celtics got the win however it came at a cost as Jaylen Brown with 1 minute left in the 3rd on a 2 hand slam lost his grip and landed awkwardly on his neck and was taken to a hospital. So the Celtics Talk Crew will discuss what did the performance of the team in those games prove in regards to where they stand compared to Toronto, Cleveland, Houston and Goldent State. Also give you the latest on Jaylen Browns injury. We will be joined by Nick Gelso @CLNS_Nick Founder of @CLNSmedia. Second guest is Bobby Krivitsky @BobbyKrivitsky sports director at NewTV. March 02, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 193 Celtics On A 4 Game Win StreakWe are getting closer and closer to the end of the NBA Regular Season. After going into the All-Star break losers of 4 of their last 5 games many NBA Insiders and Analysts decided it was time to start disrespecting the Celtics and counting them out of the race for not only the NBA Finals but the Eastern Conference Finals and just make it a 2 team race in the Eastern Conference by saying only the Cavs and the Raptors were legit. Well the Celtics for the first time in nearly a month the Celtics have finally gotten healthy and have gotten back to form. Marcus Smart returned from injury and the Celtics have now won 4 straight out of the All-Star Break knocking off the Pistons, Knicks, Grizzlies and Hornets 2 of which are teams contending for the playoffs and winning by an average of 14.5 points a game in that span. Meanwhile in that same span the Celtics have picked up 1 game in the loss column of the Raptors and now sit only 2 back of them for the top spot in the East with the Raptors still have the toughtest part of their schedule left to come and at the same time picking up 2 games on the Cavs who everyone though with the trades they made at the deadline have fixed their issues but it seems those feelings were too early. So we will recap what has transpired since the All-Star Break and what this stretch says about this team. Meanwhile we will look ahead to the big game Saturday Night again James Harden and the Rockets and what that game means for this team. February 23, 2018Celtics Talk Radio 192 Where do the Celtics stand at the All-Star BreakTomorrow night the Celtics and the rest of the NBA begin the unofficial 2nd half of the NBA season. This past weekend was the NBA All-Star Break Festivities and the Celtics top 4 players were all in L.A to participate in the All-Star events while Head Coach Brad Stevens and the rest of the team was able to focus on resting up and getting healthy and focusing on what needs to be done for the final stretch as the team only has 23 games left in the Regular Season. The Celtics prior to the All-Star break were on a 3 game losing streak having lost to the Pacers, Cavs and Clippers. They had been pushed out of 1st place in the Eastern Conference as the Toronto Raptors had now moved 3 games ahead of them in the loss column for 1st place in the Eastern Conference while the Cavs had moved to within 3 games in the loss column for 2nd in the East. The Celtics however did get through the hardest stretch of their schedule while having to do it with several players missing and now look forward to having a full roster for the 1st time in well over a month. So the Celtics Talk Radio Crew will discuss what has been said during the All-Star weekend. From the insiders who feel that Boston has now been proven to not be elite like Charles Barkley to the insiders who say they are still good but Cleveland has not threat in the Eastern Confernece period like Stephen A Smith. February 14, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 191 Celtics vs Cavs round 3 plus NBA Trade DeadlineThe NBA's All-Star break is right around the corner and its a 9 day break that several teams can really use as teams including the Celtics will head into the All-Star break battling injuries while trying to fight for playoff positioning. The Celtics and their fans coming fresh off an NBA Trade Deadline where once again Danny Ainge for the 3rd year in a row opted to do nothing and not get the team any help now heads towards the all-star break. However they had 4 games left to go from the Trade Deadline which was just 5 days ago to the All-Star Break which comes this weekend. The Celtics started off the day of the NBA Trade Deadline by signing Center Greg Monroe to a contract and the big man made his debute later that night as the Celtics were in Washington to take on the Wizards. The Celtics with a returning Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris managed to knock off the Wizards in overtime 110-104 before heading back to Boston for a game the following night against the Pacers. The game against the Pacers did not go well as the Celtics went down by as much as 26 points to a Pacers team that had a 3 day resting break before meeting the Celtics who were playing for the 2nd night in a row. The Celtics did manage to mount a comeback and even take a 2nd half lead before losing it and ultimately losing the game 97-91. 2 nights later the Celtics welcomed Lebron James and a nearly new Cleveland Cavaliers team as the Cavs at the trading deadline sent away nearly half their team to get several younger players to join the squad. The Celtics not only welcomed them but also welcomed several Celtics legends as well as former Celtics players Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and former Head Coach Doc Rivers for what was Paul Pierces jersey retirement night. The Cavs however ruined the mood in the room by blowing out the Celtics 121-99 in what was the debut for those new players. February 02, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 190 Celtics vs Warriors round 2The Celtics and the Warriors square off for the 2nd and final time in the regular season. The Warriors looking to avenge the loss the Celtics dealt them back on November 16th when the Celtics had won their 14th game in a row in the midst of that 16 game winning streak that the Celtics used to climb to the top of the NBA Standings. The Warriors players and coach of course did a lot of complaining after that game feeling the Celtics got too many foul calls and free throws compared to them while other outside the Warriors locker room felt the Warriors had no reason to complain as they blew not once but twice in the same game double digit leads before finally losing by 4 92-88 to the Celtics. So how did this game go down in Golden State. Did the Celtics manage to prove that they might have a shot to knock off the Warriors in the Finals if the 2 teams do meet there. Or did the Warriors take care of business the way everyone thought they would back in November and prove they are still ahead of the Celtics in terms of where the 2 teams sit talent wise..First guest is Kevin Dixon from N-The Zone Sports Radio, host... Our second guest for the night is Matt Rury @TeamGreen Truth, Celtics post game host at @clnsmedia, and author of the Carless Whisper podcast......more3h 50minPlay
January 27, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 189 The Celtics battle the Lakers and Clippers in LAThe Celtics since our last show played 5 games. They started off by taking on Anthony Davis and the Pelicans in Boston at the TD Garden a game in which they lost 116-113 in Overtime. They then took on the Philadelphia 76ers at home in a game that saw the Celtics play without Kyrie Irving and the Celtics lost to them 89-80 making it 2 losses at home in a row. 3 nights later the Celtics played the final game of their home stand as they took on the Orlando Magic. Kyrie Irving scored 40 points but the Celtics would lose again 103-95 making it 3 losses in a row as the Celtics would then head out on the road to the West Coast for a 4 game Western Conference road trip. They started off the road trip with a matchup against their Arch Rivals the LA Lakers befor taking on the LA Clippers in a back to back format. The Lakers were not expected to be a playoff contender let alone a challenge for the Celtics many thought that matchup would be the easiest game of the road trip yet the Celtics would lose their 4th in a row as they lost 108-107 in a game that saw the Lakers outscore the Celtics by 13 via the free throw line via a 36 to 10 free throw attempt advantage. The Celtics did have a chance to win it at the buzzard but Smart misses a 3 at the buzzard to lose the game via 1 point. That had many wondering if the Celtics had finally been exposed the Celtics however would get back on track the next night as they took on the Clippers. The Celtics would be forced to play without Al Horford and Marcus Smart as Horford was hit in the head night before and Smart suffered an injured hand over night. So whats the latest on the standings in the NBA when it comes to where the Celtics stack up in the league. What about the Cavs and their recent struggles is there any news regarding their issues. We will be joined by Warren Shaw (on twitter @ShawSportsNBA) of the NBA baseline podcast and Chris Lagseth @Hans02421 , our friend and Cs fan....more3h 39minPlay
January 13, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 188 Celtics vs 76ers in London the game of 2 halvesThe Celtics just finished a stretch of 3 games in 8 days as they and the 76ers played for the 3rd time of the season this time in London. The Celtics went into that game 2-0 against the 76ers this season with both wins being with a double digit win and looking to gain a full game over either the Raptors or the Cavaliers who had to face each other that same night. The 76ers started the game using the hot shooting of J.J. Redick to open up a 22 point lead over the Celtics in the first half. The 76ers still lead by 9 at halftime and pushed the lead back to double digits early in the 3rd only for the real Celtics to show up and ultimately take the lead and push their own lead all the way to 19 before ultimately winning for the 3rd time in 3 tries against the 76ers by double digits. The Celtics after beating the 76ers on top of beating the Timberwolves and the Nets in a back to back set just 5 days earlier now sit with a 7 game winning streak which includes wins over 3 current playoff teams in the Rockets, Cavs and Timberwolves. Meanwhile the Celtics now sit only 1 loss behind the Golden State Warriors for the best record in the NBA at the halfway mark. So we talked with Celtics fan Chris Langseth as we discuss what happened over the last week with the 3 wins for the Celtics. As well as the incident that occured in that Celtics/76ers game that saw Celtics big man Marcus Morris and 76ers rookie Ben Simmons get into it. Also what about the Raptors and Cavs who prevailed in this matchup that could be a preview of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and did the Cavs defense get fixed or are their issues that have caused them to get blown out in 3 of their first 4 games of the month continuing...more3h 37minPlay
January 05, 2018Celtics Talk Radio Episode 187 Celtics vs the Cavs round 2We have now officially reached the midway mark of the NBA Regular Season. The Celtics played their 41st game of the season when they took on Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2nd time this season. The last time these 2 teams met it was all the way back on Opening Night where Gordon Hayward suffered that gruesome injury just minutes into the 1st quarter and everyone immediately wrote the Celtics off as being a threat to prevent the Cavs from getting back to the NBA Finals some felt the Celtics wouldn't even make it back to the Eastern Conference Finals due to that injury. Since our last show which took place the day after the Celtics loss to the Washington Wizards back on Christmas Day. The Celtics have played 4 games. The next night after our last show the Celtics began a back to back set which saw them first travel to Charlotte to take on the Hornets. The Celtics won that game 102-91 and would then have to travel back to Boston where a rested Houston Rockets team would be waiting for them. The Celtics trailed in that game by as much as 26 points before ultimately coming back to win 99-98. After taking care of business on New Years Eve against the Brooklyn Nets to stretch their win streak to 3 the Celtics would have 2 days off before their showdown with Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics had every player available for this game other then Gordon Hayward which was not the case in the season opener when they had no Marcus Morris on top of losing Gordon Hayward six minutes in. The Celtics would blow out the Cavs 102-88. So what is being said now as the official midway point of the season. Are all the doubters who said the Celtics couldn't hang with the Cavs cause they got Lebron James starting to change their tune and admit the Celtics can give them a run come playoff time. Or are the people downplaying the Celtics win like they have done when they also beat the Rockets and the Warriors...more3h 41minPlay
