Center Point Assembly

Sunday, September 15, 2024, we will continue our study of 2 Peter. The title of today’s message is "Overcoming the Doctrine of Balaam." Peter, Jude, and John all identify Balaam as a false prophet whose teachings are relevant and dangerous, especially in the end times. The main idea behind this false teaching is the belief that one can engage with the worldly system and still maintain a pleasing relationship with God. Balaam thought he could maneuver around God’s direct commands to get the financial gain he wanted without penalty. This deceitful teaching is infiltrating the church, as indicated in Revelation 2:14, where it is described as happening in the Church of Pergamum. God hates the false teachings that would destroy relationships with His children, and that is exactly what the doctrine of Balaam results in. Join us for worship and study to understand how to avoid this false teaching and learn to willingly obey God’s Word in order to live a holy life.

Sunday, September 8, 2024 – Today, we continued our study in 2 Peter 2, focusing on how "God’s Jealousy Protects Against False Teachers." Jealousy is typically seen as a negative characteristic, but when it comes to God, His jealousy is about wanting a relationship with us, which was broken by the curse of sin. The entire 2nd chapter of 2 Peter speaks about God’s judgment against false teachers and prophets who lead people away from the truth of God’s Word. God is against them, and His judgment is pure. He will destroy the false teacher. This is both an encouraging word for us and a warning. We need to be careful to guard our hearts against speaking anything intentionally false, and we can take heart in knowing that God’s jealousy for us protects us. Let's continue to worship and study together.

Sunday, September 1, 2024—We hosted the Western Michigan Adult & Teen Challenge, as we do every Labor Day. We were honored to have Pastor Del and seven men who are participating in the year-long program. Their testimonies are encouraging to hear, especially for those of us who have similar struggles or know of others who do. It's incredible to witness God's work in restoring and rebuilding broken lives. Come and join us in worship and enjoy the ministry of Western Michigan Adult & Teen Challenge.

Sunday, August 25, 2024 – We continue our study of 2 Peter, focusing today on the theme of "God’s Righteous Judgment & Mercy.” Peter is careful to reveal God’s stance on sin, particularly the sin of being a false teacher or prophet, which has far-reaching consequences. God does not show favoritism toward any wrongdoer, be they angelic or human. We will also explore Lucifer's origin as the "guardian cherub" and how pride led to his downfall and the subsequent downfall of humanity. Join us in worship and study, and be prepared to be challenged, encouraged, and blessed.
