One of the main things I do with women in 1-1 coaching is help them increase their prices. Because it's confusing and hard, but I'm learning that so many of us are not charging what we're worth! I am here to say that you’re not charging enough, not what you, your time and your services are worth. Either because we have these businesses that used to be hobbies and passions, and we haven't yet recognized that they're full-fledged businesses so we keep giving products and services away to friends and family for free. Or because we just don't like money, and as long as we're paying bills, we don't really care how much we're bringing in. We are just awkward when it comes to money but we don’t have to make it that way. Reality is, money is neutral. We are the ones who make money good or bad by how we feel about it. If you can just see money as putting value into the world, the more you’ll make and the more you’ll be able to offer. So we’re not just talking about money, but value. Today we talk about the value you're offering, and how that's empowering for you and your business, AND I lay out a basic formula to help you understand how to set your prices! I want you to let go of you're insecurities when it comes to charging people, and to know that people are still going to pay because they love you and are with you, for you. Raising your prices helps you to see that people are really there for you, and your confidence will increase because you’re able to see that.
You’re probably feeling this deep inside of you already, but I’m here to tell you that it’s time to grow your team. I just know there is someone out there who is needing to hear this, and I want you to take action on those feelings because that is inspiration and what you need to push your business to the next phase. It is time to stop running around like a headless chicken. It is time to stop feeling burned out doing all the things for everyone, and feeling resentful towards the people that aren’t helping. It is time to stop feeling like you don't have time to do all the things that don't make you fulfilled. I know I talk about outsourcing on here a lot, but I want to change the verbiage because I think outsourcing has a negative connotation with it. It’s not just giving out the crap jobs or paying people to do the things we don’t want to do. If we look at it like that, we’re missing out on a huge part of the growth and fulfillment that comes from outsourcing. Look at it as growing your team, supporting others and how they can support you. Looking at it that way is so fulfilling because you get to help them in all the different ways. And it’s not just you anymore, you have more people on your team and you’re all in this together. For me, I can enjoy my business that much more. Give a listen to today's episode for how to start growing and what you hire for!
I left you on a cliff hanger last week on how building a funnel and having an email list is one of the most important things you can do for your business! As promised, I’ve brought on an expert on all things email marketing. Kendra Swalls is a mom of two, photographer and educator to help women get out of survival mode and into success mode, very similar to me! I feel like you’re going to jive with her so well. In 2012 Kendra started her photography business, Paisley Layne Photography, and that changed everything. What started as a hobby alongside her teaching career quickly turned into a successful business, and in 2017 she left her teaching career behind to run her photography business full time. So in addition to photography, she now helps women, like you, take their business from survival mode to success-mode using the same relationship marketing strategies that have been the foundations for her business success. Email marketing gets overshadowed because it's not as shiny or flashy as social media and you can’t see how many subscribers you have on your email list like you can see followers on Instagram. But the potential to build relationships and make sales, turn emails into customers is way more powerful. That is just a fraction of the gold in this episode all about why email marketing is still relevant for your business! SHOW NOTES: 1 - a target market 2 - a problem to solve 3 - a solution 4 - an easy funnel to guide client from problems to solutions Guys, these things are so overlooked! Finding these things for your business is your goal and what you need to work on for 2022. I break it all down today and provide examples of how I've done it in my 10 years of being in business. You are focusing too much time on whose not joining you and who didn’t buy from you, and not enough time focusing on who you want buying from you. We go through phases in our business where we feel like everybody needs to hire us, but that is not our goal. Remember, remember, remember. When we are focused on our target market and what we're offering, we’re less offended when somebody goes elsewhere because we know they are not our target audience. When we focus on attracting people who fit our product and brand, we’re going to be TONS more confident in our business. If you don’t have any of these things and it seems like a lot, I promise it's simple. If you have done this, go through it again. Then stay tuned for next week where we talk about email building!
As an Enneagram 1, I am a BIG fan of spring cleaning. A lot of people think of spring cleaning for junk drawers and closets. But we’re going to dive into all the areas of your life. I want you to do nothing with your business this week, yes NOTHING! Because this week you need to focus on organizing all the areas in your life so you feel renewed to tackle your big business ideas next week. You guys KNOW how passionate I am about journaling. I have shared my journaling methods here on the podcast, on my blog, in my coaching programs, in my energy sessions, etc. But we needed ONE episode dedicated to releasing heavy energy with the black journal. If you’re going through a hard time, feeling anxious or needing a reminder, you can easily listen to this quick episode to remember. What is a Black Journal? It is a journal dedicated to the negativity that surrounds us. A safe place you go to when you’re frustrated, angry, scared, anxious, annoyed, bitter, resentful or just plain bugged. It's a journal used each day to brain dump ALL the frustrations or worries in your life. Maybe even some days it's every hour. The process is broken into two parts. Part 1: Vent. The black journal is a safe space to vent without repercussions or judgement. Part 2: Release. After your vent session, you release. You Scribble. You Rip. You shred. You burn. Get rid of ALL of it with the intention of releasing it from your mind also! How to Black Journal 1. Get a notebook or paper and pen 2. Find a quiet spot 3. Set a timer for 15 minutes and brain dump 4. Release in whatever feels right for you -- rip, scribble, shred, burn — the pages with the intention that when you get rid of all that baggage it releases from your mind and body as well 5. Feel lighter + live your life in peace Ideas - Write out all the worries about future - Letter to someone you want to chew out - Bullet point everything bugging you Most Importantly… Don’t forget to let go. Once you are done black journaling, you should feel better. You should feel a release. You shouldn’t have to keep talking about it, thinking about it or worrying about it. Black journal all the negative away to clear room for more light.
3 Ways to Prep Your Business for the New Year 1. Create Opportunities to Stay Motivated The New Year is a great time to start up the routine again. A new beginning. A new chance to make new habits. I am naturally a highly motivated person — a do-er and a mover. And super productive. When I am working on a new project, I go go go until its done. But I am finding the day to day stuff to be harder to stay on top of if I’m not ahead. Motivation is no longer natural, and easy to find. Because motivation doesn’t happen naturally, I focus on two things. - Create a dream routine that I can still do even when things are hard - Work ahead What is my dream routine include? The most important thing to ask yourself is what do you want your life to look like? And what types of things can you do every day to help your life look that way? Part 2: Work ahead. When you work ahead, life can happen and your business can stay on track. Working ahead gives you that space to be unmotivated and thrive. You can feel, have the days you lay in bed, get your sick kids from school without stressing, randomly take a Tuesday off, plan a last minute vacation, breathe. 2. Income Planning The next way you can prepare for the new year is with income planning. It seems simple but MOST women I work with do not have goals of what they want to make or even an idea of what they NEED to make to have their dream life. When I start working with women, they have big goals to make six figures or retire their husbands, but when we crunch the numbers, they are a LOT closer to what they WANT TO / NEED TO make to have their dream life than they think. 3. Streamline your Marketing Plan There are a million ways to market your business. You don’t have to do them all. BUT it’s important to have a strategy. Where are you marketing and why? Things to look at: Are you using… - Sales Funnel - Reels - Ads - Email List - Blog/SEO [Shelby moving to Cali - what we did/our plan] - Social Media Strategy Updated Website What can you outsource?
The morning we were set to get on a plane to spend Thanksgiving in Washington with my family, my little boy Ro came down with breathing problems again leading us to cancel our trip. I was devastated! This would be the second year in a row I had to cancel my Washington Thanksgiving trip and I couldn't believe my little boy was in the hospital again. (If you've been following me on Instagram, you know that little Ro has had us in the ER so much this fall). But I knew I had to make a mindset shift and get out of my pitty-party mood. I just feel like so many of my friends, not just me, have been going through really really HARD things lately! So much is going on in our lives and sometimes it doesn't seem like it will ever let up. So. We can only change how we react to these hard things, right? We can't change our circumstances. I've been trying to remember to look for the miracles in my hard situations. When Ro was in the hospital, I tried to think what good came out of the situation. How can you find the miracles in your situation? Give this short episode a listen and let me know in the comments below!
