Marketing is my jam. If you’ve been here a while, you know it’s one of my favorite topics. I love marketing because if you have a good marketing plan, you can do anything. Marketing is your key to success. You can be the best nail tech, photographer, make up artist or have the best products - but if nobody knows about it, how are people going to buy from you? I have years of blogs, courses, freebies, podcast episodes - so many things all about improving your marketing. But what I really want to hit on today is planning your content ahead of time. When I say planning ahead, I’m talking like weeks and months of content already planned out and scheduled. That may seem like a lot, and it kind of is a lot, but in my new Content Marketing Queen Course I teach you how to plan 16 weeks ahead on blogs, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Youtube - literally everywhere. I teach you how to come up with weeks worth of content and spread it in all the places, and do it in a way that doesn’t take up your life and free time. If you’re struggling with posting consistently, creating meaningful captions that will get engagement from followers or confused on what SEO is and how to get to the first page of google, then this course would be amazing for you! It is all in depth and hyper focused on creating strategic marketing strategies that will help turn your website and social media into booking machines. So I have that great course coming up, but right now I just want to give some tips for planning one week ahead on Instagram and why it’s going to make the difference for right now. Here's my strategy for being consistent on Instagram, because consistency will line up your marketing strategy to hit the target. So I am soooo excited about today’s episode because I believe this is just a great change of pace to what I’ve talked about before in past episodes. I really really think a lot of you are going to benefit from today’s spiel. Last week I started reading a book called the Feel Good Effect by Robin Downs. And it’s just a little baby book, something I found at one of our department stores. It was a short read but a GREAT reminder of those mindset tools I’m talking about all the time and kind of a wake up call to let go of my perfectionism/all-or-nothing thinking. All-or-nothing thinking is like believing if you can’t do something 100%, sometimes even 1000%, then you can’t do it at all and there is no in between. It's thinking in extremes, absolutes and contributes that perfectionism mindset. And I don’t feel like I’m that way in my business, I’m pretty flexible and give myself grace there, but as I really started reading about it, I realized I am “all or nothing” in how I treat myself and talk to myself. I’m sure you can think of instances when you’ve let all or nothing thinking influence you, too. So forget about that perfectionism and needing to make a night and day difference. Just tackle one thing at a time and focus on being one percent better, not 100%, or even 1000% for you overachievers. What can you do today to be a little bit better than you were yesterday? I see this a lot with spending or exercising or eating healthy. I see people expecting to quit soda cold turkey, go to the gym every day and spend like nothing for a whole month. But guys, that doesn't work! And I bet you've tried the same, so you know it doesn't work either! So today I talk about how you can rework that all-or-nothing thinking to just being one percent better. I want to leave you with one last quote by Michael A. Dunn! “Every effort we make to change, no matter how tiny it is to us, just might make the biggest difference in our lives.” Remember! We are every other week these few months of summer. Not stopping, just slowing down because hello…SUMMER! But if there is a topic you want, or an area you feel like you need more information on, please reach out to me and I’ll make sure I get it in an episode.
I hope you’re enjoying summer with your families and I hope your schedule is going and flowing, and you’re still bringing in that extra income! And just a reminder that episodes are scheduled every other week going into summer. So today I want to talk about something I cover in a lot of different ways, but it’s clearly something a lot of people are struggling with: working when you don’t have the emotional capacity. It is really really hard to market yourself, create content and strategize when you don’t have that emotional capacity. And this might seem familiar because I’ve already done episodes on working through sabotage and anxiety, pushing through hard times and how to keep working when you don’t have motivation. It might seem repetitive, but I’m going to keep talking about it because they continue to block you from success! I think it’s actually fun that this has become a whole series - pushing through physical, mental and emotional sabotage. So for today’s next installment of pushing through when you just don’t want to, I made a list of nine things you can do to help you work when you just don’t have the emotional capacity. Grief hits me hard. I’ve had a lot of it this year and it is so draining and so hard to find the willpower to get back to work. But I know my business needs to move forward, so I go back to these nine things every time. I challenge you to push through your cycles! You can still have a thriving business even when life is hard.
As a mom and business owner, breaks are one of the hardest things about running a business. You want to take time to be with your kids, that’s why you started your own business so you can be with your kids and set your own schedule and not have to work that 9-5. But at the same time, you have a big business that you need to keep moving forward. It can’t just stop for breaks. I personally take off most breaks, like winter break and spring break and all the little ones in between. But I just can’t take off all four months of summer break. So planning for summer break is just like the time blocking episode from a few weeks ago, but on a bigger scale. I'll walk you through how to plan your family activities first, then your work activities and everything in between. Because you time blocked, you’re going to have the best summer!
Today I feel inspired to share about my INSANELY CRAZY week from the beginning of this month. Sabotage just hit at full force and was relentless. It just seems like hard times are never ending and life is not letting up. So I want to speak to sabotage and pushing through those hard times. So let me paint the picture for you: Earlier this month I had a packed week after coming back from vacation. It was a full schedule with 50 mothers days sessions, content day, and regular family sessions... I knew how my week was going to go, but what I did NOT KNOW was that on Monday I was going to end up with a torn ligament in my ankle - probs will need surgery from that... The next day I popped a rib out, and this was 10 hours before I was meeting 50 moms and their children for mothers day sessions... Content day was two days later, and by now you probably know about my phobia/insane fear of throw up. Well someone threw up at content day and that just sent me. But then three days later, my son got bit by a dog and that was a whole episode filled with emergency doctor appointments. There was something at least everyday that sent me into flight or fight. I had no idea what was up with the week, but it reminded me of the importance of mindset work to get through the sabotaging moments. When everything’s going wrong, it’s easy to forget the mindset stuff and go straight into survival mode. And that’s where I was during that insane week. Eventually I made the decision to get up early, do my mindset work so I didn’t have to keep living in that negative space. Don’t let life happen to you! Be proactive and put your mindset first. Today I talk about some things you need to do to get out of sabotage!
Let’s talk about Instagram Stories. As I’ve been planning for the May Marketing Challenge, I’ve realized people aren’t making the most out of Stories. I haven’t talked about it EVER which is really shocking because it’s an underutilized tool and you can even consider it as the secret weapon in your marketing strategy. Maybe you’re using Stories here and there, maybe you’re not using them all, or maybe you’re using them but not to their full potential. Guys. There is so much to gain from using Stories. So I decided I needed to have an episode about all the different ways you can use Stories. Stories are just one way to use Instagram. There’s also Reels and carousel posts and image posts and static posts. Man, putting all that out there just made me realize that there is so much going on Instagram right now! So I sympathize with you if you feel overwhelmed and not in the mood to learn another Instagram strategy. But the good news about Stories, and what I’m going to talk about today, is that you don't have to create new content just for Stories. You’re just tapping, talking, and typing. And it’s going to improve your marketing right away! I hope it gives you more excitement about using Instagram and some fresh ideas to try this week!
It is a big month over here at Kylee Ann Coaching - the first round of group marketing is going on right now, also getting ready to launch the May Marketing Challenge, doing family sessions and brand shoots back to back in the studio, and gearing up for another content day! Everything is insane over here! I usually love to have the business moving and so many things happening, but this past month it’s just contributed to a lot of anxiety. It was just been the perfect storm of things pumping panic into my life, from business things, to buying a new house, to bills and taxes, and everything else going on in the world. But even though I was in the most debilitating anxiety I’ve had in a really long time, I was able to hit my business and income goals for the month of March and I want you to know that you can too! So today I lay out some things I did to help me push through my anxiety and thrive in my business. Because you have to have to have to take care of your mental health and be doing all the mindset things as a business owner. If you don't, you either aren't moving forward in your business or aren't fully present to appreciate your business' progress!
