Today’s episode is sponsored by a response to a troll comment I got by a guy named Ron. I unfortunately get a lot of troll comments. I delete a lot of them, but this comment wasn’t that bad – I just said “Alright whatever, Jonathan.” Jonathan commented on one of my posts about my Becoming a Brand Photographer course that said “it seems like more photographers are teaching how to make money and that income is their main source of income. I’d like to see the portion that is actually made from shoots.” Fair point, I guess. Just because I teach photographers how to make money doesn’t mean that I can’t make money from photography. The truth of it is: I make more money in photography than I do in coaching. I would LOVE to have that switch and have my courses outweigh what we’re doing in photography. Not because I want to decrease my photography, but because that would be a freaking baller extra income! That would be amazing! That’s the goal because it’s residual and it’s not trading my time for money. Ron, who inspired this episode, said “It’s very foolish to have just one source of income. If they want to teach someone, and that someone freely wants to pay, then that is perfectly fine.” Ron made a good point here – having one source of income can be very foolish. If you want to only have one income source, that’s fine, but maybe by the end of this episode you might start thinking differently. It’s a great way to grow your business and your sales without having to add on a ton of extra physical work. Make sure you tune in to today’s episode to hear my suggestions on where/how to add an income source!
I’m so excited, because on today’s podcast, we have a guest – it’s been a while, and I’ve been saving one of my favorite people for this interview! Jess Brown! Jess is all-around an amazing human. She’s very positive and teaches a lot about women empowerment. She helps you feel good about yourself and in your skin. I loved chatting with Jess about how her wellness business has evolved the last several years, but what I was most excited to talk to Jess about was her COLD PLUNGING! Cold plunging is the ultimate slow-down, and the ultimate breath control – it’s the perfect exercise in giving your body something completely out of your control and then calming yourself down. It helps your nervous system learn the basic skills of regulating. Tune in to today’s episode to hear more about Jess’ cold plunge journey, the benefits she’s seen, and to feel totally inspired to help yourself be more aligned! A couple weeks ago, we talked about motivation vs. discipline – this is part 2 of that episode. Before I get into trying to find that creative inspiration again, I want to reiterate that sometimes (actually, most the time) we’re not going to feel motivated. This means we need to really work on being disciplined first – that way we can do what needs to be done instead of waiting around to feel inspired or feel creative. We must get in the habit of being disciplined. BUT, a lot of people asked the questions: “How do you get creative?” “How do you find inspiration?” “How do you get motivated and excited?” If your needs are getting taken care of, if you’re on a good schedule, and if you’re doing the things you need to be doing for your business, I think it is important to figure out how you can get that creative flow back into your life. I have some examples of what works for me, but I want you to think about the following statement: “The last time I felt motivated, I did ________.” What did you do? Where were you? Everyone has their own way of feeling creative – that’s important to note – no 2 people are going to be the same! Tune into the podcast today to hear some of the ways that I feel motivated, inspired, and creative. Then, do the things you need to do to find inspiration and motivation – no matter what those things are. It’s there, and it will come, we just aren’t always listening.
Today, we are going to talk about one of my favorite things, and the biggest tool that I use in my business: SYSTEMS. Systems are my business superpower. It’s the reason we can take on so much as a team, and it’s the reason I can do so much as an individual person. Systems are the reason I can be so productive and get so much done in a small amount of time. They’re the reason I can scale my business, have employees, contractors, and it’s the reason I’m able to let go of control. Every single thing that I do in my business has a system. That means that every single thing that I do in my business can be done by someone else. Systems are a framework for your business. However, systems aren’t just for your business. Systems are a method, a framework, or a clear way of doing something. When you have a great system in place, people are going to be so amazed by working with you before they even work with you. Often times, I’m told, “Oh my gosh you’re the best coach/photographer I’ve ever worked with!” All before I’ve even done the coaching or taken their photos. This is because of the systems I have on the front end and back end of what I do. Make sure you tune in to hear all about some systems that you can implement in both your business and home life!
It’s been a long time since we talked about balancing mom-life and business, so in today’s podcast, I want to circle back to that conversation! It’s possible for you to not feel like a crazy person all the time. I’m not going to say it’s possible for you to feel completely balanced all the time, because in reality, mom-life ebbs and flows. There are busy weeks, days, hours and then there’s slow times. It’s a constant up and down – it will never fully balance. That being said, you can find a balance and a rhythm with the craziness that doesn’t feel all-consuming all of the time. The majority of the time, it can feel like you’re living your dream life. This largely depends on how you approach it and some tools you can use. Make sure you tune in to hear what tools I use to help me balance that mama work life!
Today we’re going to talk about one of my FAVORITE topics – MARKETING! I get so many questions about marketing because it’s such a complicated thing! There are so many ways to market, so many types of marketing, so many places to market… that’s what gets a little bit tricky! Where do you start with MARKETING? TikTok, Instagram, email marketing, paid ads, Pinterest, SEO, Website, content, mailing, door to door… there’s so many ways to market your business! It can get confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming! Unfortunately, you get to a point where there’s so many things that you have to do so you freeze and don’t do anything. It can feel like you’ll never catch up or you can never market your business because you just don’t have the time and resources to be in all the places. Here is your permission to not be in all the places! You can start exactly where you’re comfortable and grow that avenue! You could stay in that one avenue and have a very successful business. You do not need to be in all the places. Tune in to today’s episode to learn what platforms I use, and how I use them! If you have questions about your marketing strategy, please reach out. A few weeks ago, I asked Instagram what you guys were working on this year. So many of you said “motivation” or “consistency”. I think this is a very, very important conversation. I know I’ve talked a bit about motivation, burnout, and things like that before, but let’s hit it again. In today’s podcast, I talk all about separating motivation and discipline: doing the things we HAVE to do vs. the things we WANT to do. Make sure you tune in!
It’s time to set a MONEY GOAL! I think money is a weird thing for people. It makes people uncomfortable – uncomfortable to share. But, money pushes you through that discomfort and through some of the things that are holding you back. This is why I like making money goals. When you set a money goal, a lot of the time it brings up emotional or other heavy things that are stopping you from experiencing success. You need to work through these things! In today’s podcast, I walk you through how to set a big money goal for 2023! I share with you all the key to accomplishing that money goal – don’t miss it!
One thing that I have realized with coaching women, is a lot of us are just going kind of blindly into our businesses and into our life, and not knowing where it’s going to lead. Eventually you get to a point where you’re going in a direction, and you don’t even know if it’s where you want to be. At that point, we need to PAUSE and see where it is that you want to go. When you PAUSE, you can start steering your business and your life into that direction. One of the easiest ways for me to do this is through a yearly Manifestation Story. Tune in to today’s podcast to learn all about Manifestation Stories and how you can manifest your dream life into reality!
