  • Naked and Exposed with Carlee Janae

“And I think that’s the whole point, it’s trial and error. I didn’t just wake up and be like oh ‘I’m here’, ‘I’ve arrived’. I still haven’t arrived. There are still struggles and challenges. It’s really just a process of taking thoughts captive, because I know the word of God and because I know the truth of God and because I’ve experienced God in ways I don’t even know how to explain. When thoughts come up that try to send me in my past. I now know I have the authority to be like ‘wait a minute that’s not God’s nature’. Why? Because God says that I’m fearfully and wonderfully made” - Carlee Janae

  • How to be a cool parent 101

This week we wanted to open the conversation up to you. I (Holly) am always getting questions revolving around parenting and how we’re raising Opal. People are often times most interested in her being vegan, but also things like traveling, work/life balance, breastfeeding, free play and others. So I wanted to take this episode to answer all the questions you have with Shane too. We very much believe in cultivating a free space for Opal to express herself creativity, emotionally, physically and mentally. We never set expectations or boundaries on her. We let her grow on her own. Just as a flower would in the wild. So enjoy this weeks episode and thank you to everyone who asked questions.

We touch on many topics this week including:

    • Ways to incorporate kids into workouts (people use kids as an excuse not to workout)

    • Are we planning on teaching Opal to juggle? (Anyone in the family a master juggler)

    • How do we keep our marriage healthy with a business and child?

    • What are Opals go to meals or snacks?

    • Does Opal take supplements?

    • Are we hard on yourselves as parents? How do we overcome that?

    • How we react to her falling and are teaching her not to be fearful

    • Being a leader and a mother what does Holly find most difficult to balance?

    • Baby talk? Why we’re not about it at all

    • Does Opal sleep through the night? What did you do?

    • Do people criticize us for raising her vegan/ how do we deal with family that thinks the baby needs animal products to be healthy?

    • What’s our parenting philosophy?

    • What’s it like traveling with Opal, tips or tricks for a mama who’s about to travel with a baby.

  • Crafting your passion into a business with Mariela De La Mora

“To teach yourself how to think is much more important than knowledge. You can have knowledge and it’s outdated tomorrow. Whereas if you teach yourself how to think it doesn’t matter how much technology changes because that’s one thing we can say for sure. Is that the world won’t be the same in a year. It changes so quickly with technology and social media where if you can teach yourself how to adapt and how to think it’ll be a much better asset.” - Mariela DeLa Mora

Today we have a special guest, Mariela DeLa Mora. I (Holly) have known Mariela for almost 5 years. Mariela was the head of marketing at Neqtr, one of the start ups I interned at while in college. Over time she became a mentor and business women I looked up to. I loved watching how her brain worked to make magic out of pennies. Over the years we’ve stayed in touch through social media and within the last year I’ve been super inspired by all of her work in self development, business growth hacking and building a genuine personal brand. She is not only a badass mama but an online coach helping entrepreneurs become the best version of themselves and showing them how to best serve their community.

We touch on many topics this week including:

    • What Mariela is up to now with helping entrepreneurs and building a team across multiple different time zones

    • Why a college internship with a start up is key to your career

    • What’ s been the biggest hurdle this past year

    • How do we know it’s time to pivot in our work space and what does that look like

    • How do we craft our passions into a business

    • Why should you be inspired to go to work

    • What makes someone a good leader

    • How do we develop self confidence

    • Why micro-influencers have more purchasing power

    • What’s the biggest lesson your toddler has taught you

    • How does motherhood and being a good leader overlap

    • How Mariela can lead you to a run a successful business

  • Quit being afraid of hard work with Kayleigh Flippen

“My biggest message is work. I just want people to quit being afraid of working hard. Some of my biggest questions are how to you own businesses or how are you successful at it. Honestly, work. Just put in the work.” - Kayleigh Flippen

This week we have one of our favorite boss babe friends on the podcast with us, Kayleigh Flippen. Her friendship shows the power of social media because we have actually never met in person. But over the past year this gal has become one of our besties. We have watched her balance multiple businesses, grow in her fitness, and step into sharing more about veganism. Of course we love seeing her fur babies too!

We dive into what it takes to run your own business. She started her first business at 17 and knew she never wanted to work for anyone else. After watching her mom become a successful entrepreneur she knew this would be her calling. With 3 businesses under her belt she has only had success. How? Every business has been carefully and thoughtfully planned out; with a 10 year plan in mind. “If you know what you wanna do, then do something about it. These people fantasize entrepreneurship, they think it’s going to be this amazing thing. You’re going to have all this free time. You’re going to be your own boss. But no, no. You have to know exactly what you want. You have to go at it with so much faith and fury and tenacity. It’s really hard work. Like you have to go after it. If you don’t know what you want to do than you’re not ready.”

We touch on many topics this week including:

    • Background and what got Kayleigh into entrepreneurship

    • First business

    • Who and what inspired her to become an entrepreneur

    • What it’s like owning and working with a spouse

    • What started her fitness journey and how it’s evolved over the years

    • How to build a true community on social media

    • Advice for people building their personal brand

    • How to deal with negative comments and trolls

    • Her biggest passion and message

    • How to prioritize life, business, working out, puppies etc.

    • Why the vegan lifestyle

  • Finding yourself while solo traveling with Ben Kravetz

"The unknown it's what life is all about. Thats where all the emotional factors of life are. Where the things you didn't expect end up turning out incredible. Where you find yourself. That's what is important in life and those are the moments you'll remember." - Ben Kravetz

This week we have an extra special guest, my brother Ben Kravetz. Ben has been solo backpacking across the Middle East and South East Asia for the past 6 months. He has recently taken a break from backpacking and is residing in Bondi Beach, Australia.

We talk about the importance of solo traveling and how it can really push you outside your comfort zone. Ben talks about how he chose to take this trip after college insted of taking the traditional route and getting a job. This was a choice he made only a year before graduation after his Buddhism professor encouraged his dream to travel.

He purged everything he could get his hands on before the trip trying to make enough money to sustain his traveling. "It really shows you how much shit you have and don't need. No one cares if you have the newest nicest pair of sneakers. You're not changing anyones life buy having those expensive sneakers."

We touch on many topics this week including:

    - Do you feel traveling right after college is equipping you better for your future?

    - Where does your passion for traveling come from?

    - What was your vision for taking this trip?

    - Why do you think it’s important we travel solo?

    - Did you have an expectation for this trip/ did that change as you treaved?
