It's a big day for Jon and some of his friends at the Wall. There's just one major problem and it involves Sam. After some time pondering other possibilities for his life, Jon gets an idea in his head to fix Sam's problem. Simon and Mac step you through the chapter and share ideas and insights as they go.

Chapter Review:
Jon and some of his fellow Night's Watch recruits are graduating from training under Ser Alliser Throne. As the boys whoop it up, Sam is all but excited. He's being left in the care of Ser Alliser, without his friends to protect him. That's a recipe for disaster.
Jon, worried about Sam, take a ride down the Kingsroad with Ghost to clear his head. While out, he realizes that he could just keep going and be back in Winterfell in no time. Instead, he turns back to Castle Black to pay a visit to maester Aemon.
After cajoling his way past maester Aemon's steward, he explains to Aemon that if he doesn't intervene and have Sam pulled from training, Sam will surely be killed. The wise maester promises to take the matter under consideration.

Jon Snow - Bastard Son of Lord Ned Stark. Recruit to the Night's Watch.
Samwell Tarly - New recruit of the Night's Watch. Son of Lord Randyll Tarly.
Pyp - Recruit of the Night's Watch. Small and talented at imitations and voices.
Grenn - Recruit of the Night's Watch. Big, slow, and not very bright.
Maester Aemon - The ancient maester of the Night's Watch.
Ser Alliser Throne - Master-at-arms of the Night's Watch. Mean, bitter, and humorless.
Randyll Tarly - Sam's father. Lord of Horn Hill. Bannerman to Mace Tyrell of Highgarden.
The Citadel - The institution for learning for maesters in Westeros.
