  • 608 - Vintage amps, Wooden samplers, and Fender's bender agenda

Brian and Richard are back for Episode 608 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Vintage amps, wooden samplers, and Fender's bender agenda.

There is a lack of Blake in today's episode as he has gone trucking, and Richard has the GAS bad once again for a pointy-headed guitar. Meanwhile, Brian is dreaming of creating a Wampler Sports brand. Richard wonders if he has entered a new midlife crisis but is soon distracted by a Fender bender.

Is the concept of an auto-tuning guitar completely dead in the water? The guys try to have a sensible conversation but it goes off into the techno weeds, and Brian has big Daisy Seed news. Meanwhile, Richard is amused by some pickup finishes and Brian has some strange Bare Knuckle requests.

Brian has been pondering his next vintage amp purchase, and Richard shows him a very exclusive vintage amp he was sent pictures of - there is some drooling, although Richard still prefers a "modern" sounding amp, and the guys discuss. Meanwhile, there is an invention that may or may not be awesome, and there is some concern about the price of memory chips.

Brown Sugar, GT Pro Performer, hamburgers, worriers by nature, Tembo — it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

  • 607 - Brian invents a new form of reverb and are guitar magazines dead?

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 607 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian invents a new form of reverb and are guitar magazines dead?

Brian is in a chipper mood, whereas for Blake it's been a busy week - someone gets fired live on air, and there is a long neck involved. Meanwhile, Richard has been playing fancy guitars and has some views that he struggles to articulate. He has also fallen in love with a piece of wood, and Brian has Camperlust.

When was the last time you bought a guitar magazine? The guys discuss the state of guitar magazines, advertising, and why we should support journalists! There's also some chat about different methods to learn guitar parts, and THAT solo gets mentioned again. Richard introduces Dave the Wizard.

Can you cope with more than the main "food groups" of the electric guitar? Brian can't - he thinks everything just needs a B-Bender in it. Meanwhile, there hasn't been enough UFO talk recently, so the guys attempt to fix that...and then it goes massively off into the weeds again. Sorry, not sorry.

Seth Baccus Guitars, Potholes, Double Dragon, OFX, Tone King Royalist, UFOS... it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

  • 606 - The Art of the Stompbox, Blake has ghosts, and Brian falls down another rabbit hole

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 606 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - The Art of the Stompbox, Blake has ghosts, and Brian falls down another rabbit hole.

The guys open with cartoon-based nonsense, plenty of questions, and an update from the British King of Fuzz. Meanwhile, a book celebrating the art behind some of the world's most iconic pedals has just been released - and it features a section on Wampler, which left Richard simultaneously proud and bemused. Brian has been deep down the Mandela Effect rabbit hole.

Have you ever had a rehearsal where you thought everything went badly? Some rookie errors led to a situation and raised some new questions. Wampler released the Golden Jubilee last week and the guys discuss why it is absolutely not a Tube Screamer - despite being green. Brian also goes a bit too far with the medical stories. Again.

Rush has announced a new European tour and the guys debate it, somehow dragging Lars Ulrich into the conversation along the way. Wampler has won an award for the greatest Klon clone of 2026 and the guys are too legit to quit. Meanwhile, Brian gets very angry at Richard, who is thinking about going to see some country music.

Captain Caveman, The Matrix, Nefarian 11, Tone King, Scratch-'n'-Sniff pedals... it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

  • 605 - We are the weird ones and is this the ultimate collection of gear ever?

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 605 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - We are the weird ones and is this the ultimate collection of gear ever?

Blake tells us about his CB radio close calls and Brian ponders whether he should be training monkeys and cats. Richard has been playing with AI music generation and is both impressed and depressed at the same time. Somehow a Trans-Am and various wild predictions are involved.

Brian admits he is not the typical guitar player and we get some insight into his creation process as he has re-discovered an old favorite pedal. Meanwhile Richard and Brian discuss the all new Wampler release and there are unrepeatable stories. Blake has been playing with a classic Wampler pedal and it has made him feel warm and fuzzy but Richard ruins it all with his bad reading.

Richard has been digging through the items coming up for auction in the Jim Irsay collection and he is bowled over by the quality and Britishness of the collection. He also explains the concept of pancake day. Meanwhile Paul Reed Smith made some comments about the Telecaster and it has drawn some views and created an interesting question.

Hot Cake, Leviathan secrets, Silver Jamboree, Chris Shiflett Tele, Small Venues...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

  • 604 - Brian drops some more big hints, confuses everyone, and is a kind of chilled out entertainer

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 604 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian drops some more big hints, confuses everyone, and is a kind of chilled out entertainer

The episode opens up with complete unabashed gibberish from Brian and Blake and Richard is totally confused and somehow Adam Sandler is involved. Brian has been watching TV and it confuses everyone. Meanwhile the British king of fuzz received a package and it contained a Pedalhead which he dutifully tested with multiple pedals and tells us all about it.

After dropping the Pedalhead with its new custodian, a certain Mr. Pete Thorn, Richard got to watch him shred in the Classic Rock Show - and "that song" may or may not be involved. It also provokes some debate before Blake accuses Richard of nefarious business practices and Brian tries to bring more music to Martinsville.

Brian has been thinking about a new way to make Backing tracks - yes the automatons are involved - and it spins into an interesting debate about how music career trajectories for the masses may have changed but maybe they are equally as healthy as ever? The guys also chat about stem separation software and there is string talk!

The Tube Butler, Meatloaf, Slippery Nipples, Snack Daddy, Baby Blue Marshalls...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

  • 603 - A royal declaration, a new guitar is needed, and Brian is a workaholic

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 603 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - A royal declaration, a new guitar is needed, and Brian is a workaholic

It's apparently been an uneventful week as we open up and Richard makes an important royal announcement which makes him incredibly happy. Meanwhile Brian shakes his fist at the clouds. There is also an urgent need to buy a new guitar and Blake's friends have car / tree interface issues while Brian turns to Workaholicism.

Brian was contacted by a listener who actually wanted us to veer off topic more and talk about UFOs and Aliens and somehow the Bank of England is involved. There is some current affairs talk that  relates to strings and Brian likes a thick bottom and considers dressing like Justin Bieber.

Richard has got his hands on a Pedalhead and he is very excited but he only has it for a small amount of time and he is already impressed. He also has had a chance to spend some time with his new Blackstar ID:X Floor 3 and gives us some feedback before destroying his internet connection.

J-ROD arrives, UAPs, Spinal Tap, Tape Spaghetti, Basingstoke...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

  • 602 - More Pedalhead talk, NAMM is snow joke, and you cannot resist the power of the Dork Side!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 602 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - More Pedalhead talk, NAMM is snow joke, and you cannot resist the power of the Dork Side!

The guys have returned from NAMM with some smooth talk for your listening delight and Richard asks the difficult questions early on. Brian and Blake got to hug it out at NAMM while our British friend cried into his tweed pillowcase. Meanwhile the North American weather caused some sticky moments for the Stringjoy crew and Blake tells all.

Brian got to talk about the upcoming Pedalhead Machine Learning Poweramp and he shared the stage with the legendary Dave Friedman. Somehow rockets are involved. Brian clues us in with some more details about what makes this product really special. Casio have come out with a new product and the guys love it.

Richard has bought a modeling unit much to the disgust of Brian and Blake. It was inexpensive but he digs it, and does a terrible job describing why, before the guys have a quick admiring look at the Polyend Endless AI pedal. There is a new invention involving Brian and a vending machine.

Carl is a hero, Farmer Bri, Intimate speakers, Digital Brian, Stevie Wonder, The wrong tacos, Brian O'brian McBrian Brianston...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

  • 601 - Brian reveals the all new Wampler Pedalhead power amp and another pedal is leaked!

Brian and Richard are back for Episode 601 of the Chasing Tone Podcast -  Brian reveals the all new Wampler Pedalhead power amp and another pedal is leaked!

It's a Pre-NAMM podcast and Brian and Richard drop firefighting duties to bring some really exciting news to you while Blake flies off to Anaheim. Meanwhile Brian details his revolutionary new product which gets a big reveal at the show this year and the levels of excitement are palpable as it does something really neat that we don't think has been done before...

Brian is effervescent with enthusiasm because he is one of the few people to have played this product and suddenly turns into a computer geek which makes Richard nostalgic for old 3Dfx graphics cards...Meanwhile Brian taps into his inner 1920's gangster and then tells us about ANOTHER pedal release. There was a slight leak also.

PRS have announced a new collaboration with Ed Sheeran and it invites a debate about PRS stock pickups.  Richard has a bizarre theory about playing versus listening and he and Brian dive into it a little before mocking drum kits. Synergy have released a new combo amp and Richard has fallen in love with various custom shop options.

Mechanized Yogurt Funnels, Richard's control rope, We love Danish Pete, The Egosystem, Anthony Cleetus returns...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

  • 600 - The legend of goat mountain, Brian wants a new Les Paul, and behold - the Human Riff!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 600 of the Chasing Tone Podcast -  The legend of goat mountain, Brian wants a new Les Paul, and behold - the Human Riff!

We join the guys in a bizarre stand off as they convene for the annual "No Richards" party at NAMM and there is a mysterious portent. Meanwhile the guys come up with a new idea for a business and it is swiftly erased from memory. Blake has a special British guest on Tape Spaghetti this week and spills all.

Brian has GAS for a Les Paul and the guys discuss it before looking at an all new ES 355 from Gibson that has quite the price tag and we learn that Brian has a lot on his mind. Richard found some new David Gilmour footage and it simultaneously ignites a new debate and nearly bores Brian to sleep.

There is some Grand Theft Auto action as Blake makes a terrible admission about his gaming history. Meanwhile Richard is editing a book about a famous Californian band and it has awoken a deeper understanding - but not of how to pronounce names. He and Brian also drop some teases about what they are showing at NAMM.

  • 599 - Blake's cougar encounter and the ultimate tune-able tube screamers

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 599 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Blake's cougar encounter and the ultimate tune-able tube screamers

It's a new year and Bri goes straight to the resolutions and nonsense, predictably, ensues before he makes a massive revelation and interrogates Richard's brain. Meanwhile he has been dreaming of adding a bender to his Les Paul and the guys were impressed by Brian's impersonation of Keith Richards.

Richard get's all nostalgic for MTV but thanks to a website he was introduced to (https://wantmymtv.vercel.app/) he is able to sate his whimsical leanings. This leads the guys into a trip down memory lane as they discuss their favorite periods of the legendary music station that is no more. Richard is also disappointed with a new Bowie documentary but managed to catch GAS from it nevertheless.

Blake has a "vintage" looper pedal and the guys talk about it at length. Brian comes up with an insane ground-breaking pedal design and the guys discuss it via the medium of Jell-o. Meanwhile the guys have been listening to some new music and tell all.

Flat earth theory, The Buggles, The Great Cornholio, Streindberger, Phil Lynott, Nick Cave...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!
