Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by a true Six String Legend for Episode 588 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - It's a Trapp! We talk tone, tunes, and teaching with Nashville legend Guthrie Trapp
Despite some tech issues (we are looking at you Jeff Bezos) the guys are joined by a total Nashville legend and all-round nice guy, Guthrie Trapp, and Brian contemplates whether he needs his Johnson rod adjusted. Guthrie has more stories than Brian has goats and you are going to love this episode as we start off with an honest appraisal of what it takes to really make money out of music.
Guthrie has a unique way of looking a the guitar and briefly tells us about it before giving us some unique insight into his guitar clinics and Richard's interest is piqued. This then turns into a conversation about food and then about roots and folk music. And Wales.
This is a very special episode and we are very grateful to Guthrie for his time. We should mention that there are a few casual swears in this weeks episode so we have marked it Explicit but it is mild and infrequent.
Billy Gibbons, John Fogerty, Loch Lomand, Battered Mars Bars, Mark Knopfler...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

Brian and Richard are back for Episode 587 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Indiana Tones and the Pedalboard of Doom, and Brian has amp advice
Blake has left for a short vacation so Brian and Richard bring the rumpus and it is largely unhinged and tiny rabbits are involved. Wampler are releasing a thing this week and there may or may not be some hints in this episode. Brian has been playing a new pedal-board amp, Richard is keen to look at the box, and Brian is keen to overshare.
Richard has had the perfect Smoke on the Water moment and is excited to tell Brian about it. Meanwhile Brian is nostalgic for skinning audio players and the guys discuss why Led Zeppelin are more popular than Deep Purple with a huge smattering of unsubstantiated claims. Meanwhile, Richard is GASsing for a new guitar...Again.
JHS dropped some exciting new colorways for their recent Notaklon pedal and the guys discuss the nostalgia effect on graphic design. Richard has been watching shows about Nashville and he tells Brian about it and his secret desire to experience line dancing.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 586 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - New Guitar Day, Reverse Headstocks, and the End of Creativity?
Brian accuses Richard of many things but one that cannot be denied is his hypnotic power to make other people buy a guitar. Including you. Yes, you know you want to - treat yourself. Blake has an all new shred machine and he shows it off much to the enjoyment of Brian and Richard.
Do you ever play a guitar with a reverse headstock? The guys question the benefits and Richard gets very confused. Meanwhile Brian has been digging into the new Synyster Gates amplifier and keys us in with the details. There was a nice completion of a My Chemical Romance related circle when we took a look at their latest rig rundown.
There was some sad news this week as we learned of the passing of Ken Parker, one of the most innovative guitar builders of all time, so the guys talk about the Parker Fly design briefly. Meanwhile there have been some new Ai developments which the guys are almost duty-bound to discuss.
Gibson x Charvel, Whitfill guitars, Brown Lobster, Puccini, Brad Paisley's new favorite guitarist...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 585 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian modifies a new pedal live on air and shares his Metaverse based exit strategy
Brian has been checking out a new guitar and bumps into some Internet forum gossip and it sets forth a chain of events, or not as the case may be, so the guys discuss the unsubstantiated rumor. Have you ever been to a music related "experience" in a virtual world? The developers of Fortnite have collaborated with a big name act and the guys explore the idea behind it.
The CEO of Spotify changed role this week and the guys wonder if it is because of their controversial AI music strategy of recent times. Richard makes stupid statements and thinks about the implications of pay-as-you-play instruments which leads back to a certain pedal.
Synergy have announced a new JCM module developed in collaboration with Marshall and the guys take a brief but longing look at it. BOSS also released a new pitch shifting pedal and it has caught the guys attention and there is a new 250 pre-amp pedal from DOD which Brian feels compelled to modify...
Richard's NFTs, Omikron and the giant Fly, Goat update, Flugelhorn, Catalinbread ...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 584 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian is not a fan of Spotify's Ai suggestions and partially destroys a vehicle
Brian has been re-enacting one of his favorite movies by destroying his trailer at an outdoor gig and tells us the hilarious tale which contains many, many woes! He concludes that he may not be a camping person and Blake offers some sagely advice. Meanwhile Richard's family continue to inhabit the late 1800's.
Blake has been hanging with Coheed and Cambria and he is stoked about his experience despite Richard trying to drag him to the gutter. He has ended up with GAS and tells us all about it and also tells us of a kitchen based disaster from his past.
Richard gives us vague clues about a product release this week which coincides with the opening of this year's Guitar Summit in Germany and has a new musical guilty pleasure. Meanwhile Brian is concerned about the rapture. if you are reading this, his concerns were not borne out. He has also been disgusted by Ai.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 583 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - This one goes to eleven...and what do guitarists really want?
We start off with the only new story in town - Blake has managed to contribute to the new Spinal Tap movie and the guys naturally have to go into great detail about this monumental event. Richard immediately tries to derail the conversation and is put back in his box by the powers that be and there is more McFly based teasing.
Do you remember the Line 6 Variax guitar? Richard laments the idea that promised so much but failed to deliver and wonders if it will be revisited with modern technology. Brian consumes some dubious substances and Richard asks stupid questions and tells us about his new toy.
Brian has been cursing a famous friend's name as he has been trying to nail some new songs for one of his many bands. Meanwhile Bruce Dickinson sung something unusual and Richard and Blake discuss it before some terrible dad jokes are made.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 582 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian is learning to play the guitar again, Blake has a new guitar, and we are all hypocrites
Brian has been stimulating some conversation on the Internet following his recent interview about digital products which got picked up and spun by a few magazine sources. The guys break down the question that caused all the kerfuffle including "that" American Vox and chat about the role of technology in the music world.
Richard is confused by the kids and coins the term Whymenials whilst discussing digital vegans and Brian makes some fierce accusations including one that involves a mullet. Blake makes various camera based confessions and there are some worrying developments before Brian talks about his heavy gig schedule.
Blake has a new guitar, well kinda, and he tells us all about it during a nostalgic section that involves zero Englishpersons...until the scoundrel returns. There is some 90's country talk and the guys try to educate themselves on Roman numerals and fail. There is also some discussion of the Badinkadinks.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 581 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian's video with Rick Beato, Exploding tubes, and the BOSS PX-1
Richard is feverish with excitement about the new Rick Beato interview with David Gilmour whereas Brian and Blake are almost completely nonplussed. This somehow becomes a discussion about pork chops before the guys look at some controversial comments from another ex-member of Pink Floyd.
Boss have released a new pedal, the PX-1, which is a 'plugin loader' pedal and the guys look into it and have some interesting views about why the Internet shouldn't be as mad as they are. Brian thinks it looks a bit like a LEGO pedal - but that may not be such a bad thing. Do you still use a Wah pedal? Brian sets forth the motion that nobody does any more.
Brian also managed to nearly set fire to his barn when one of his amps went supernova and he tell us all about it. Richard has a new pedal day with a vintage classic and the guys nerd out about op-amps. Finally Blake is allowed to talk about his new amp day and there is much rejoicing.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 580 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - The greatest guitar gear deal ever and is Brian working with the military?
Blake is cursing at his air conditioning and Richard is wearing heavy metal t-shirts while Brian is in an indeterminate state of undress. Yes, it is business as normal here at Chasing Tone. Brian has an idea for an amp and the fellers may just be on to something.
Richard takes us through the un-boxing of his new drum Kit having completely forgotten he talked about elements of this last week because he is both old and an idiot but he has had an epiphany. What is the perfect ratio of amplifiers to guitars? Richard finds himself unusually short.
Someone made a mistake and accidentally discounted a suite of plugins and the guys discuss consumer expectations and trying to get one over on the man. Somehow this involves some British folklore from the 1990s and the guys invent a dangerous new sport.
Water cooled amplifiers, Hoover free flights, Quiche, Bad career advice, Vegetable wars, Eddie Vedder Tele, Subwoofer flatulence...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 579 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian's number one guitar buying tip and California dreaming with Tracii Guns and Norman's Rare Guitars
Richard has been living in the 1980s and has a rant. Meanwhile there was some very tragic news in the world of metal so the guys discuss it despite Internet woes. Closer to home in the pedal industry, Josh Scott from JHS had a nasty accident on his cycle so the guys do their best to send healing powers across the airwaves.
Blake spent a couple of days on the west coast and hung with almost everybody who is anybody! He tells us about his time with the legendary Norm of Norman's Rare Guitars and somehow it involves the Goo Goo Dolls. Brian shares his one tip for picking a great guitar and Blake talks about his time with friend of the show, Mr. Tracii Guns.
Brian has convinced Richard to buy new gear and there is a modicum of excitement before Bri takes it all straight to the gutter. Blake realizes that he too is becoming old and the guys compare aging woes.
