On today's show, Marc makes an announcement about a book deal he just signed, Torie talks about a new feature coming up on the show "The Battle of the Books", and they talk about books that should be made into a movie. Then they welcome their author in - Kyle Swenson - and they discuss his brilliant book "Good Kids, Bad City : A Story of Race and Wrongful Conviction in America", and they close things out with some book recommendations about con jobs and heists!

On today's episode, David gives his book report on "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's nest" (and knocks it out of the park!) After that, they welcome in their guest author - Jane Leavy - and her latest book "The Big Fella : babe Ruth and the world he created". And they close things out by talking about the books on their nightstand that they haven't gotten around to reading just yet (you know you have one too!!)

On today's show, the gang gets an update from David on his progress on "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" with some special insight from Michael. Then they talk about the book they would all like to write, and after that they welcome in their author of the week - Mark Salter, the long time speech writer for John McCain who also wrote a number of books with the late Senator. They get his fascinating early life, how he got into writing / politics and his creative process.

Then they welcome in their author : Chris Wilson, who talks about his book "The Master Plan" and his incredibly inspiring story about turning his life around while serving a life sentence in prison. Then Washington Post movie critic Ann Hornaday sits in to discuss her book "Talking Pictures : How To Watch Movies", and to get her take on the Oscars, and how she approaches her reviews for films, and of course, they close out with their deserted island recommendations, but this time with a movie as well as a book!

Torie, Marc, Michael and Jeanne begin by talking about what they read for guilty pleasures, plus they have a new idea for the show that will give Marc some homework. Then they welcome in their guest authors : Eric Scmitt and Thom Shanker of the New York Times to talk about the book "Counterstrike : The Untold Story of America's Secret Campaign Against Al Quaeda". And of course - they have recommendations for books you'd need on a deserted island!

The gang is back in studio, and they kick things off by talking about "Pride and Prejudice" (it was published on January 28th, 1813), then Torie gives a pop quiz about bad book reviews, and after that, Pulitzer Prize winning writers Mary Jordan and Kevin Sullivan sit down to talk about two recent books they've worked on : "Prison Angel : Mother Antonia's Journey from Beverly Hills to a life of service in a Mexican Jail", and "Hope : A Memoir of survival in Cleveland".
