_Based on the summary notes of the Pisron Daniel on Neviim Rishonim_

    ● Dovid makes a 30,000 man procession to take the Aron to Yerushalayim, puts it on a wagon to be guided by Uzah and Achyo Bnei Avinadav, and he and the nation celebrate with all kinds of instruments.

    ● The Aron becomes dislodged from the oxen so Uzah grabs the Aron to save it and Hashem strikes him dead, to Dovid’s great displeasure.

    ● Dovid ends the procession and sends the Aron to stay with Oveid Edom HaGiti for three months.

    ● When Dovid is informed about the blessing that comes upon Oveid Edom, he starts a new procession for the Aron bringing korbanos every few steps, dancing with all his strength, wearing a linen tunic, and blowing tekios of a shofar.

    ● When they get to Yerushalayim, Michal sees his dancing and finds it disgraceful.

    ● Dovid brings korbanos, blesses the nation, and gives meat and wine to everyone who showed up before sending them home.

    ● When Dovid gets home, Michal reprimands him for exposing himself and he reprimands her for reprimanding him and implies that he, unlike Shaul, doesn’t mind being humbled before Hashem.

    ● Michal has no children until the day of her death.

    ● The entire nation accepts Dovid as king and he rules for 33 years after having already ruled 7.5 years in Chevron.

    ● Dovid takes his men to Yerushalayim and a Yevusi tells him that he won’t be able to enter until he “removes the blind and the lame” and Dovid ultimately conquers Metzudas Tzion and calls it “Ir David.”

    ● Chiram Melech Tzor sends materials and workers to build a palace for Dovid and acknowledges it as being from Hashem.

    ● Dovid takes more concubines and wives and has 11 more sons with them (at least with the full wives).

    ● Upon hearing about Dovid’s malchus, the Pelishtim spread in Eimek Rephaim and Dovid, upon Hashem’s directive, strikes them down in Baal Peratzim and he and his men burn the abandoned idols of the Pelishtim. The Pelishtim spread in Eimek Rephaim again and this time, Hashem tells Dovid to sneak around and ambush them. He listens to Hashem and again strikes down the Pelishti army.

    ● Beis Dovid is getting stronger while Beis Shaul is getting weaker.

    ● Six children are born to Dovid: Amnon ben Achinoam, Kilav ben Avigail, Avshalom ben Maachah (possibly his Yefas Toar), Adoniah ben Chagis, Shfatiah ben Avital, and Yisr’am ben Eglah (possibly Michal).

    ● Avner exerts himself over Beis Shaul and Ish-boshes accuses Avner of being with Shaul’s pilegesh, Ritzpah bas Ayah.

    ● This infuriates Avner causing him to swear to cause Dovid to rule instead of Ish-boshes because of his ungratefulness leaving Ish-boshes speechless in fear.

    ● Avner offers a treaty to Dovid and Dovid accepts on condition that he bring him his wife Michal.

    ● Dovid then demands from Ish-boshes that he send him Michal.

    ● Once Avner leaves, Yoav arrives and is informed that Avner had visited.

    ● Yoav reprimands Dovid for trusting Avner and Yoav has Avner brought back to Chevron, unbeknownst to Dovid.

    ● Yoav pretends to casually speak to Avner but kills him by striking him in the fifth rib, avenging Asael.

    ● When Dovid finds out, he claims no responsibility and curses Yoav and his family terribly.

    ● Dovid mourns for Avner and tells Yoav and his men to join.

    ● Dovid laments and mourns and the nation believes in his sincerity and that he didn’t issue the command to Yoav.

    ● Dovid commands and sends blessings to the men of Yaveish Gilad for burying Shaul.

    ● Asael, brother of Yoav and Avishai, pursues Avner and Avner warns Asael twice to end his pursuit before killing him with a spear in his fifth rib. Yoav and Avishai start pursuing Avner and Avner, with his men behind him, calls for a truce and Yoav accepts, blowing the shofar calling for his men to stop.

    ● The two armies return home, Yoav’s men lacking 20 (including Asael) and Avner’s men lacking 360, and Asael is buried in Beis Lechem.

    ● When Dovid and his men return to Tziklag, they find that the Amalekim had set it on fire and kidnapped all their women and children.

    ● Dovid and his men cried until they could no longer. Dovid’s men want to stone him but he draws strength from Hashem and asks Aviasar HaKohen to bring the Eiphod through which Hashem tells him to try to overtake the Amalekim.

    ● They travel after the Amalekim and 400 of the 600 cross over Nachal HaB’sor when they come across a Mitzri who was ill and had not eaten or drunk in three days. They revive him and he turns out to be a slave of the Amalekim who had been abandoned when he had taken ill. On condition that they not kill or return him, he leads them to Amalek.

    ● When they get there, they find the Amaleki camp celebrating and they smite the whole camp except for 400 youths who get away, and they find that amazingly none of the people had been harmed and all the spoils were there.

    ● When they rejoin the 200, some “mean-spirited” people are opposed to letting the 200 have anything other than their families but Dovid says that those who watch the baggage will get half of the spoils, and that becomes the decree. Once they get back to Tziklag, Dovid sends out spoils of the war to all the different cities in Yehudah that they had visited during their flight from Shaul.

Related to the shiur, my brother R' Daniel pointed out to me that the word "בְלִיַּעַל" is actually a conjunction of the words "בְּלִי עוֹל," "without a yoke," i.e. lawless.

The Pelishtim mobilize their armies to fight against Israel and one officer asks Achish why Dovid and his men seemed to be joining.

Achish responds that Dovid is on their side but the officers say that they don’t trust Dovid and that he should be sent back.

Achish apologizes to Dovid and says that, against his will, he has to send Dovid back.

Dovid "complains" asking what he did wrong but Achish reiterates that it’s not his decision and dismisses Dovid and his men to return the next morning, and they do.

    *Bullet Point Summary*

_Based on the summary notes of the Pisron Daniel on Neviim Rishonim_

    ● The Pelishtim are going to war against Israel and Dovid is appointed as Achish’s bodyguard.

    ● Shaul is terrified of the opposing armies and seeks advice from Hashem but Hashem doesn’t answer him through any of the typical means (Urim V’Tumim, dreams, or prophets) so he seeks out Yid’oni diviners, even though he himself had banished them from the land.

    ● He disguises himself and is brought to one woman and he swears that he won’t get her in trouble.

    ● He asks that she bring up Shmuel and when she describes the old man in the cloak, she screams and realizes that her visitor is Shaul.

    ● “Shmuel” asks Shaul why he disturbed him and Shaul explains that he was distressed and Hashem would answer him.

    ● Shmuel says that Hashem turned away from him and sided with Dovid, giving him the kingship, because Shaul didn’t obey Hashem’s commands regarding Amalek.

    ● He then informs Shaul that the next day, he and his sons would die in battle.

    ● Shaul falls to the ground upon hearing this and refuses to eat until the woman and his men strongly urge him to eat.

    ● She prepares a meal for him and he and his men leave that night.
