Harvey Wittenberg was a longtime fixture with the Blackhawks, serving as the Public Address voice of the team from 1961-2002. Known for his ‘monotone’ delivery, Wittenberg told you who scored the Blackhawks’ goal, who it was assisted by and at what time. He also let you know when it reached the 1-minute mark left in the period. Wittenberg still works for the Hawks as the press box announcer and contributor to the team’s website. Wittenberg has been a member of the Chicago media scene for decades.

Scott Foster only played one game for the Blackhawks, but etched his name in Blackhawks lore. An accountant by trade, and a former college goaltender, he was signed as an emergency backup for the Hawks vs. Winnipeg on March 29th, 2018.  When starter Colin Delia was injured in the third period, Foster got the call and stopped all seven shots he faced in the last 14 minutes to preserve the Blackhawks’ 6-2 win. He was named the #1 star of the game.

Today we’re profiling defenseman Johnny Oduya.  Oduya was acquired in February of 2012 in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets to help bolster the Blackhawks blue line. Oduya became a key piece for the Blackhawks over the 4 seasons he was with the team, helping them win 2 Stanley Cups in 2013 and 2015, and assisting on Dave Bolland’s Stanley Cup winning goal in 2013 to beat the Boston Bruins. Oduya was re-acquired by the Blackhawks from the Dallas Stars in 2017 playing 15 games.

A member of the Blackhawks on the ice, and as a broadcaster, Steve Konroyd appeared in 895 career games. After spending four years in Chicago, Konroyd was traded to Hartford during the 1991-92 season. He was a member of three playoff teams with the Blackhawks. After calling it a career in 1995, Konroyd made the move to broadcasting, serving as a Blackhawks studio and in-game analyst over multiple decades.

Today we’re profiling goaltender Dominik Hasek — arguably the greatest goaltender in NHL history. Drafted 199th overall by Chicago in 1983, Hasek spent just two seasons with the Blackhawks, but it marked the beginning of a legendary career for “The Dominator.” His .922 save percentage ranks first all-time among NHL goaltenders with at least 100 appearances.

Nicknamed “The Grim Reaper”, Stu Grimson wasn’t on the ice to score goals. Grimson was 6 feet 6 inches tall, weighed 240 pounds, and fighting was his specialty. He played 3 of his 14 NHL seasons with the Hawks from 1990-1993. He averaged just over 200 penalty minutes per season in Chicago. He left the Hawks after being selected by the then, Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 1993 expansion draft. He wound up playing for 8 different teams racking up over 2,000 penalty minutes during his NHL career.
