Tonight’s Scripture
“Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.” — Mark 10:9
Evening Meditation
Whether you’re married or not, we all play a role in honoring marriage. By living out godly marriages, encouraging others in theirs, and supporting singles in their desire for marriage, we uplift what God has ordained as sacred.
In a world filled with cynicism about marriage, we can stand apart by choosing words and attitudes that reflect its God-given value. Ephesians 4:29 reminds us to speak words that build others up—this applies to how we speak about our own spouse, others’ marriages, and even those yet to marry.
God established marriage in Genesis 2:24 as a holy union—a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church. This covenant, not just a contract, is a sacred bond requiring intentionality and care. Ephesians 5:25 calls husbands to love sacrificially, mirroring Christ’s love. And Hebrews 13:4 emphasizes how God sanctifies and honors the marriage relationship.
Even on the hard days, we are called to speak life into our marriages and the institution of marriage as a whole. In doing so, we reflect God’s heart and contribute to a culture that honors what He has joined together.
Your Nightly Prayer
Dear Father,
We thank You for the gift of marriage—for creating, ordaining, and sanctifying it. Help those of us who are married to protect and cherish our relationships. Lead us in strengthening our own marriages and encouraging others in theirs. Fill our mouths with words that honor the sacredness of marriage, uplifting others whether they are married or hoping to be.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
