“Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?” — 1 Corinthians 15:55

Death's sting is sin, and sin's strength is the law. But Christ entered death, absorbed its full force, and walked out the other side. He destroyed the one who held the power of death and freed those held in lifelong slavery. When "O death, where is your victory?" it's because Jesus already won. You can face your last breath without fear—He's already been there and swallowed it up.

For you have not yet come to the resting place and the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you. — Deuteronomy 12:9

You haven't arrived yet—and that's okay. Israel they hadn't come to their rest, a Sabbath rest still awaits God's people. This world "not your rest" because it's defiled. Christ's promise: He's preparing a place. Don't get too comfortable here; you're a pilgrim with a better home ahead.

“What do you want Me to do for you?” “Lord,” he said, “let me see again.” — Luke 18:41

"What do you want me to do for you? The blind man in knew exactly what he needed. Jesus asks the same question—not because He doesn't know, but because He wants you to name your need. What to ask for: wisdom, revelation, enlightened hearts. Every good gift comes from the Father of lights. Bring your real need to Christ; He's not put off by honest asking.

He led them on a straight path to reach a city where they could live. — Psalm 107:7

He led them forth by the right way. Not the easy way, not the short way—the right way. God is like an eagle stirring her nest, teaching her young to fly. He leads through wilderness and wasteland because He's guiding you home. He'll lead you even through the valley of shadows.

May my prayer be set before You like incense, my uplifted hands like the evening offering. — Psalm 141:2

Prayer as incense—that's the picture in. And it's beautiful. Exodus 30 shows the altar of incense in the tabernacle, a picture of Christ's continual intercession. He always lives to make intercession for us. Your prayers don't ascend on their own merit; they rise through the perfect incense of Christ's blood and priestly work. Pray boldly—your High Priest carries every request.

Sing to the LORD a new song—His praise from the ends of the earth—you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who dwell in them. — Isaiah 42:10

A new song demands a new reason to sing. We sing fresh praise because God's mercies are fresh every morning. He put a new song in our mouth—we didn't manufacture it. And anchor that joy in His presence and strength, not our circumstances. So sing loud; the Lord who saved you yesterday is still saving today.

The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” — Deuteronomy 31:8

The Lord doesn't just point the way—He goes before you. His presence is the ground of your security, not your performance. And if His presence doesn't go with us, we've got nothing. On any doubt—nothing can separate us from His love. Your whole Christian life is held together by a God who won't fail you.

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, — Philippians 3:13-14

Paul ran his whole Christian life looking forward, not back — he'd done too much he regretted and too much he could've rested on, so he kept his eyes fixed on Jesus and the prize ahead. The strength to keep going doesn't come from willpower; it comes from knowing God finishes what he starts, that Christ is interceding for you, and that he's strong enough to hold everything you've entrusted to him. Strip off whatever slows you down, fix your eyes on Jesus — he ran this race first and made it to the other side.

Now Joshua was old and well along in years, and the LORD said to him, “You are old and well along in years, but very much of the land remains to be possessed. — Joshua 13:1

Joshua was old and advanced in years when God said it: 'there remains yet very much land to be possessed.' Paul hadn't arrived either — he pressed on. There's always more of Christ to know, more holiness to pursue, more of the inheritance to take by faith. Add to your faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love — not to earn anything, for the land is already given, but to possess what's yours in Christ. The victory is won. Now take the land.

and in the wilderness, where the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way by which you traveled until you reached this place.” — Deuteronomy 1:31

Look back at where God has brought you. He carried you like a Father carries his Son, bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to himself, and when you suffered, he suffered with you. He'll carry you to the very end — even to old age he won't drop you. So give him your burdens; he already knows what you need. Raise your ebenezer and say, 'Thus far the LORD has helped us' — he's carried you this far, and he won't stop now.
