Christmas is a miracle. Christmas is, "an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs." God chose to intervene in human affairs 2,000 years ago. God had promised many times that he would do just that. In fact, when the Magi came to Jerusalem they asked, "Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews?" The Magi were directed to the Scriptures. "But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel" (Micah 5:2).

The Magi were directed to words written 600 years before Jesus was born. The Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem. Through God's Word we are allowed to see behind the scenes as God "manifested his divine intervention in human affairs." Christmas is a miracle. Merry Christmas.

We have a Holy Assurance Policy that has been activated by the Holy Son of God. Jesus is our agent. He is more than our agent; he is our Savior. If we have any assurance of salvation it is because our very life rests totally in his hands of Jesus Christ. In him, we have holy assurance of our salvation.

God is calling his people to walk in holiness. This is our new calling. It can be our new calling because we have been given new life in Christ. But if we do sin our Holy Assurance Policy has a value that is beyond anything of this world. We have an advocate who will speak to God on our behalf. After 70 years of captivity a small remnant of the nation of Israel was allowed to return to the land. The task of rebuilding was impossible. The discouragement was crippling. However, God had something to say about it: Not my might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty. What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of God bless it! God Bless it!’ (Zechariah 4:6-7).

And accuse him he does because Joshua is clothed in filthy rags. However, God himself speaks for Joshua. God rebukes Satan, pulls Joshua out of the fire of judgment and puts clean clothes upon him. What a salvation! Thank God we have justice fully realized in our Savior, Jesus Christ. Human beings can now rejoice in the salvation of God that is ours in Christ.
