After last week's viewing of THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION, we here at the Psychotronic Film Society podcast became enamored with the badass that is Penelope Spheeris and couldn't bring ourselves to move on from her filmography, so this week, we're visiting her most famous film, the 1992 SNL spinoff WAYNE'S WORLD!
SYNOPSIS: When a sleazy TV exec offers Wayne and Garth a fat contract to tape their late-night public access show at his network, they can’t believe their good fortune. But they soon discover the road from basement to big-time is a gnarly one, fraught with danger, temptation and ragin’ party opportunities.
Does WAYNE'S WORLD deserve a spot in the Psychotronic Hall of Fame?
We’d love to hear from you! Contact us at any of the social media accounts listed below or give us a call at (864) 372-9931 and leave us a voicemail of 3 minutes or less and we’ll play it on the next show!

This week on the show, we're taking a look at our first *real* documentary (no FACES OF DEATH doesn't count) with Penelope Spheeris' look at the LA punk rock scene of the late-70s/early 80s, THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION.
Does the film have the historical value to get it into the Psychotronic Hall of Fame?

This week on the show, we're diving back into the twisted world of Paul Verhoeven and his biting social satire/giant bug sci-fi actioner STARSHIP TROOPERS!
SYNOPSIS: Set in the future, the story follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry. Rico’s military career progresses from recruit to non-commissioned officer and finally to officer against the backdrop of an interstellar war between mankind and an arachnoid species known as “the Bugs”.
Much derided upon release, over the last 20+ years, Verhoeven's film has found new life as a clever send-up of fascism, the American military complex, gender politics and more. We'll delve into all of these themes as well as provide some little-known information about the film's creation!
And of course, we also discuss whether or not it belongs in the Psychotronic Hall of Fame, a decision that we leave up to our listeners.

Last week on the show, we visited the 1958 Vincent Price classic THE FLY. This week, we're discussing it's (possibly better-known) remake, directed by David Cronenberg and starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis.
SYNOPSIS: When Seth Brundle makes a huge scientific and technological breakthrough in teleportation, he decides to test it on himself. Unbeknownst to him, a common housefly manages to get inside the device and the two become one.
You guys spoke and let us know if the 1958 version of THE FLY belonged in the Psychotronic Hall of Fame (you'll find the results in this episode), so now we're asking you the same for the 1986 remake. Is THE FLY (86) one of the greatest genre films of all time? Does it deserve to go into the annals of history?

This week on the show, we're going all the way back sixty years to an early psychotronic classic: 1958's THE FLY, starring Vincent Price!
SYNOPSIS: In Montreal, the industrial François Delambre is called late night by his sister-in-law Helene Delambre. She tells him that she has just killed her beloved husband Andre Delambre, using the press of their plant to press his head and left hand. François calls his acquaintance, Inspector Charas, and later the reluctant Helene is convinced to tell them what happened. She explains that Andre had invented a matter transportation apparatus, and while experimenting with himself, a fly entered the chamber, exchanging one hand and the head with him after the transference.
We're nominating this one for the Psychotronic Hall of Fame! Do you think it deserves to go in?

This week on the show, we're going truly weird with a film that was just released in 2017, but started filming in 2002! This week, we're taking a look at Andrew Getty's THE EVIL WITHIN!
SYNOPSIS: The sadistic tale of a lonely, mentally handicapped boy who befriends his reflection in an antique mirror. This demonic creature orders him to go on a murderous rampage to kill the people he loves most.
This movie is INSANE. But even more insane is the story behind it, so take a listen and let us know what you think!

This week on the show, we're discussing the 1980's sci-fi cult classic THE LAST STARFIGHTER, directed by The Shape himself, Nick Castle!
SYNOPSIS: Alex Rogan finds himself transported to another planet after conquering The Last Starfighter video game only to find out it was just a test. He was recruited to join the team of Starfighters to defend their world from the attack.
Will THE LAST STARFIGHTER become the next film to go into the Psychotronic Hall of Fame?
