Parenting does not begin with skills and abilities. It's neither simply about managing a household and keeping things afloat. Ultimately, Christian parents are called to "make disciples."

"Successful parenting is not about achieving goals (that you have no power to produce) but about being a usable and faithful tool in the hands of the One who alone is able to produce good things in your children." - Paul Tripp

To be able to produce good things in children, we need to understand God loves our children more than we parents do. By God's design, God prunes us so we bear more fruit. However, to bear spiritual fruit, abiding in Christ is how we do so because He is the true vine and apart from Him, we can do nothing.

The message of Epiphany is that Jesus for you. If you haven't put your faith in Him before, this is the word for you.

For those that are in Christ, this is a reminder that we should go into all the world and make disciples. The glad tidings of great joy that the angels declared was truly for all people.

Through the message today, we want to look at these 3 things:

1. Who needs God's love?

2. What kind of love do we need?

3. What does God's love look like? What kind of love did God give us?

What brings you joy?

God's promises and Word never fade because those promises are God himself. The Word and the Promise is Jesus Christ.

Prophet Isaiah says God's greatest gift is Himself. He comes finally and ultimately to gather us to Himself. To carry us up in His arms and hold us in His bosom.

什麼帶給你喜樂？

神的應許和話語永不改變，因為祂自己本身就是這些應許。耶穌基督就是這個道和應許。

先知以賽亞說神自己就是祂要給人最大的禮物。祂來的終極目標為的就是要把我們聚集起來，用祂的臂膀圍繞我們，將我們抱在祂的懷中。

Where is your peace from these days? The Creator enters His creation in order to save all of creation.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

你的平安從哪裡來？造物主進入祂的創造中為要拯救萬物。

Biblical hope is rooted in a person, not based on circumstances. It's God's faithfulness in the past that brings hope. Christians need to look back on what God has done in order to look forward in the future.

Isaiah 9:2-6

The people who walk in darknesswill see a great light.For those who live in a land of deep darkness,a light will shine. You will enlarge the nation of Israel,and its people will rejoice.They will rejoice before youas people rejoice at the harvestand like warriors dividing the plunder. For you will break the yoke of their slaveryand lift the heavy burden from their shoulders.You will break the oppressor’s rod,just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian. The boots of the warriorand the uniforms bloodstained by warwill all be burned.They will be fuel for the fire. For a child is born to us,a son is given to us.The government will rest on his shoulders.And he will be called:Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

聖經的盼望根基始於一個人，而不是環境。能夠為人帶來盼望是因著神過去的信實。基督徒要展望未來前，必須要回顧神過去的成就。

以賽亞書 9:2-6

行在黑暗中的人民，看見了大光；住在死蔭之地的人，有光照耀他們。你使這國之民增多，又加添他們的歡樂；他們在你面前歡樂，好像收割時的歡樂一樣；又像人在均分戰利品時的快樂一般。因為他們所負的軛和肩頭上的杖，以及欺壓他們的人的棍，你都折斷了，像在米甸的日子一樣。因為戰士在戰爭喧嚷中所穿的靴，和輥在血中的袍，都必燒毀，成了燒火的燃料。因為有一個嬰孩為我們而生，有一個兒子賜給我們；政權必擔在他的肩頭上；他的名必稱為“奇妙的策士、全能的　神、永恆的父、和平的君”。

Instinctively, we all are waiting and looking for a good eternal king. What Micah is reminding us is to make sure that we are looking in the unlikeliest of places - A King and Savior "born in a manger" who will stand before God, for His people, as an eternal king.

我們心中都在默默等待並尋找一位良善又永恆的君王。彌迦的預言告訴我們在一個最出乎意料的地方－有位永恆的君王和救主「出生在馬槽」，並要在神面前為祂的百姓站立。

Application 應用

If this is our future destiny as the people of God, let this vision from Micah 4 shape our lives now in this coming week.
