Maggie begins this Monday by speaking to Associate Prof. Lowell Barrington from Marquette University. Friday's Oval office meeting between Trump and Zelensky has unified Europe. It's no longer about getting a seat at the table. It's about building a whole new table. Donald Trump is shifting democracy but to what end? Maggie also discusses the budget cuts. Republican lawmakers are saying one thing, but Maggie gives us with a little math lesson. Trust the numbers...
I am confused by the basic math. You say that the budget you voted for “did not include any cuts to specific programs” and that “anyone saying otherwise is a liar.” But you are the liar: you know that because the budget bill requires the House Energy & Commerce Committee to cut $880 billion, which won’t come close to the trillions needed to fund the new tax cuts for billionaires, and because the Committee only oversees $200 billion in non-Medicaid spending, this means that even if you zeroed out all other Energy & Commerce Committee spending, which is impossible, you would still need to cut $680 billion from Medicaid. Stop hiding behind semantics and legislative drafting sleight of hand.. Do your homework and stand up for working Wisconsites.
Btw, do you receive any benefits that are on the chopping block? I didn’t think so. Shame on you.

Guest: Prof. Lowell BarringtonTo begin this hour, Jill Rosenthal, the Director of Public Health Policy at the Center for American Progress, joins the Maggie Daun Show to discuss what proposed NIH cuts do to the economy and rural hospitals and clinics in Wisconsin.
Next, the Chad Holmes Show speaks with Judge Susan Crawford, a candidate for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, to learn about her judicial philosophy and discuss the aspects of the campaign trail.
Following that, Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba welcomes actor Jamie McShane, who has starred in shows including 1923 and Bosch. Jamie shares his experience on the set of the series 1923, a new series called Task, and working on Hostage with Bruce Willis.
Lastly, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Dr. Omar for tips for good health habits. They include four main things we should keep in mind 1) sleep, 2) eating, 3) how we live, and 4) our relationships. Earl and Dr. Omar also talk about keeping a good balance of the four.

On Matenaer On Air on Tuesday, Dr. Kristin Lyerly joined the show with Laurel Marcinkus, who went through a horrific experience while carrying a wanted pregnancy. This is a deeply personal discussion with Laurel and we gave it a trigger warning on our show notes, but we felt it was important to know what women are going through when access to abortion isn't available or when the hospital doesn't know when they can give it.
Then, on UpNorthNews Radio, Pat Kreitlow welcomes Joan Esposito of WCPT Radio in Chicago, along with former Chicago Tribune editor Mark Jacob and former US Attorney Jim Santelle, as they do a theater review—political theater, that is, and hand out awards for actors, supporting actors, comedies and dramas from politicians whose performances help their careers while hurting a big chunk of the country.
After that on the Todd Allbaugh Show, the newly-elected State Sen. Sarah Keyeski joins us to talk about her background in rural Wisconsin and the new Right To Repair bill that she co-authored. She believes that our farmers should be allowed to repair their own equipment. Common sense, right?
To close out the hour, the John and Gordy Show welcomes James Santelle to the program to talk about how president Trump is using and disregarding the Supreme Court’s Chevron decision to circumvent the laws of the United States.

It is a dark day in this country. It is a dark day for democracy. For 85 years, we have fought against the same things Vladimir Putin stands for. Call your Wisconsin representatives. Tell them how angry and embarrassed you are after witnessing what happened between Trump and Zelensky today in the Oval office. Here are the Washington and Wisconsin numbers for your local representatives.

Shameful. Disgusting. Abandonment of our principles. Today is a dark day. One that will be marked in the history books and talked about in classrooms. We witnessed Donald Trump and JD Vance surrender to Vladimir Putin in the White House. As Maggie points out, he is not someone we should be doing business with. Ukraine is our ally. Trump and Vance's simpering loyalty is embarrassing, but more importantly, it's dangerous.

Jeramey Jannene from Urban Milwaukee joins Maggie and Tom this hour for our new segment, "Milwaukee in a Microcosm." They begin by discussing Tearman Spencer. Read up: https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2025/02/26/former-city-attorney-pleads-not-guilty-case-bound-over-for-trial/.
It's worth your time. Turns out local politics has it's issues...and looks a lot like what's happening on the federal level. All the stuff happening in your city can impact you and your family more than what's happening in Washington D.C. Plus, the Miami of the Midwest will see fewer cruise ships in 2025. Jeramey points out that multiple cruise ship lines will be reducing their Great Lakes offerings in 2025.

Tom Palzewicz, the most reasonable guy in politics, is here once again as Maggie's co-host. Maggie and Tom begin today by talking about the measles outbreak in Texas. Maggie went to the CDC website to get official information but realized that is no longer a reliable source. This is the world we live in now...
Tom and Maggie also wonder how, in this current world, we get people to understand and really listen. Common sense seems to be something that is missing.
It's another edition of "Broad Appeal." Today, Yari Aquino from Emily's List joins Maggie to discuss the Wisconsin Supreme Court race. We're five weeks away from the spring election, and Brad Schimel has money pouring in from Elon Musk's PAC. Yari points out North Carolina as the playbook for how the GOP is going to try to benefit their agenda and potentially overturn an election. To make sure you are ready to vote on April 1, check out https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/. Maggie also tells us how to get "Over the Hump and Trump" this hour by showing a little kindness. It's the smallest, most random gestures that can really make a day so much better...and sometimes you never know who really needs it.

Guest: Yari AquinoGray Gunderson is back! Gray can be heard on WCQM in Park Falls, but on Wednesdays he joins Maggie to talk about what's going on in "Your Neck of the Woods." As we learned, in a Birkebeiner recap, the purple and gold bibs mean you're a Birkie OG. Maggie and Gray also discuss how summer activities at the beautiful Lake Superior Apostle Islands is being threatened by federal workforce cuts. How do you feel about overflowing toilets? Plus, Brian Lemek, Executive Director of Defend the Vote, joins Maggie to discuss how the SAVE Act could keep millions of people from voting because of a name change. Happen to know any married women? The requirements are so burdensome that a driver's license won't be enough. It would require a passport or a birth certificate, and 69 million women who have changed their name due to marriage don't have birth certificates to match their names. Check out more information from Defend the Vote at https://wedefendthevote.org/.
Maggie continues talking about education in Wisconsin. Our kids, as Maggie points out, deserve a system that works for them. Every child deserves every opportunity, and it shouldn't depend on which zip code they were born in to get the best out of the education system. Maggie also looks into the anti-DEI Trump policies. What are white, wealthy, cisgender males so afraid of? Affirmative action is still applicable in this country.
